Computational trust models and machine learning
\"This book provides an introduction to computational trust models from a machine learning perspective. After reviewing traditional computational trust models, it discusses a new trend of applying formerly unused machine learning methodologies, such as supervised learning. The application of various learning algorithms, such as linear regression, matrix decomposition, and decision trees, illustrates how to translate the trust modeling problem into a (supervised) learning problem. The book also shows how novel machine learning techniques can improve the accuracy of trust assessment compared to traditional approaches\"-- Provided by publisher.
How does economic policy uncertainty affect green innovation?
2023
This research examines the impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on green innovation by using the panel fixed effects model from 2000 to 2017 for the samples of 31 provinces in China. The general conclusion is that there exists a positive link from EPU to green innovation, and that the impact of EPU varies significantly among different provinces that have diverse levels of marketization and trade openness. Specifically, provinces with higher marketization and degrees of trade openness have witnessed stronger positive effects from EPU on green innovation, whereas the correlation is rather weak in regions with low levels of those two factors. Our findings serve as a research reference for how governments may boost green innovation in the face of increasing EPU.

IGF2BP2 regulates DANCR by serving as an N6-methyladenosine reader
2020
The major function of Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2 (IGF2BP2) is to regulate cell metabolism. However, emerging evidence indicates that IGF2BP2 plays a role in cancer, but the underlying mechanism is largely unknown. Here we showed that upregulation of IGF2BP2 is associated with poor outcomes of pancreatic cancer patients and suppression of IGF2BP2 inhibits cell proliferation. We further showed that IGF2BP2 regulates lncRNA DANCR. Ectopic expression IGF2BP2 enhances, whereas knockdown (KD) or knockout (KO) of IGF2BP2 suppresses DANCR expression. Moreover, in vivo RNA precipitation and reciprocal RNA immunoprecipitation revealed that IGF2BP2 interacts with DANCR. DANCR promotes cell proliferation and stemness-like properties. Experiments with xenograft models revealed that while ectopic expression of DANCR promotes, DANCR KO suppresses tumor growth. Mechanistically, DANCR is modified at N6-methyladenosine (m6A) and mutagenesis assay identified that adenosine at 664 of DANCR is critical to the interaction between IGF2BP2 and DANCR where IGF2BP2 serves a reader for m6A modified DANCR and stabilizes DANCR RNA. Together, these results suggest that DANCR is a novel target for IGF2BP2 through m6A modification, and IGF2BP2 and DANCR work together to promote cancer stemness-like properties and pancreatic cancer pathogenesis.

Intestinal mucosal microbiota mediate amino acid metabolism involved in the gastrointestinal adaptability to cold and humid environmental stress in mice
2024
Growing evidence has demonstrated that cold and humid environmental stress triggers gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. In this study, we explored the effects of intestinal microbiota homeostasis on the intestinal mucus barrier and GI disorders by cold and humid environmental stress. Moreover, the inner link between the intestinal mucosal microbiota and metabolites in mice with cold and humid environmental stress was interpreted by integrative analysis of PacBio HiFi sequencing microbial genomics and targeted metabolomics. In the current study, we found (1) after the cold and wet cold and humid environmental stress intervened in the intestinal microbiota disorder and homeostasis mice respectively, the bacterial culturing and fluorescein diacetate (FDA) microbial activity detection of intestinal microbiota including feces, intestinal contents, and intestinal mucosa suggested that the cold and humid environmental stress decreased the colony of culturable bacteria and microbial activity, in which intestinal microbiota disorder aggravated the injury of the intestinal mucus barrier and the GI symptoms related to cold and humid environmental stress; (2) the serum amino acid transferases such as glutamate pyruvic transa (GPT), and glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) in cold and humid environmental stressed mice increased significantly, indicating that the intestinal microbiota adapted to cold and humid environmental stress by regulating the host's amino acid metabolism; (3) the integrative analysis of multi-omics illustrated a prediction model based on the microbiota
Lactobacillus reuteri
abundance and host amino acid level that can predict intestinal mucoprotein Muc2 with an adjusted R2 of 75.0%. In conclusion, the cold and humid environmental stress regulates the neurotransmitter amino acids metabolic function both in intestinal mucosal microbiota and host serum by adjusting the composition of the dominant bacterial population
Lactobacillus reuteri
, which contributes to the intestinal mucus barrier injury and GI disorders caused by cold and humid environmental stress.

Improved Bidirectional RRT Algorithm for Robot Path Planning
2023
In order to address the shortcomings of the traditional bidirectional RRT* algorithm, such as its high degree of randomness, low search efficiency, and the many inflection points in the planned path, we institute improvements in the following directions. Firstly, to address the problem of the high degree of randomness in the process of random tree expansion, the expansion direction of the random tree growing at the starting point is constrained by the improved artificial potential field method; thus, the random tree grows towards the target point. Secondly, the random tree sampling point grown at the target point is biased to the random number sampling point grown at the starting point. Finally, the path planned by the improved bidirectional RRT* algorithm is optimized by extracting key points. Simulation experiments show that compared with the traditional A*, the traditional RRT, and the traditional bidirectional RRT*, the improved bidirectional RRT* algorithm has a shorter path length, higher path-planning efficiency, and fewer inflection points. The optimized path is segmented using the dynamic window method according to the key points. The path planned by the fusion algorithm in a complex environment is smoother and allows for excellent avoidance of temporary obstacles.

Effect of serum lactate dehydrogenase-to-albumin ratio (LAR) on the short-term outcomes and long-term prognosis of colorectal cancer after radical surgery
2023
Background
Whether serum lactate dehydrogenase-to-albumin ratio (LAR) influenced the outcomes of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients after radical surgery remained unclear. Therefore, this study sought to examine how LAR influences the short-term and long-term outcomes of CRC patients who have undergone radical surgery.
Methods
This study retrospectively included CRC patients who underwent radical resection between January 2011 and January 2020. We compared short-term outcomes, as well as overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS), among various groups. Both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were utilized to pinpoint independent risk factors associated with overall complications and major complications. Moreover, Cox regression analysis were conducted for OS and DFS. Odds ratio (OR) and Hazard ratio (HR) were adjusted.
Results
This study encompassed a cohort of 3868 patients. 3440 patients were in the low LAR group and 428 patients constituted the high LAR group. In the high LAR group, patients experienced significantly longer operative times (p < 0.01), larger intraoperative blood loss (p < 0.01), and extended postoperative hospital stays (p < 0.01). Additionally, the incidence of both overall complications (p < 0.01) and major complications (p < 0.01) was higher in the high LAR group compared to the low LAR group. Furthermore, LAR was emerged as an independent prognostic factor for overall complications [OR/95% CI: (1.555/1.237 to 1.954), p < 0.01] and major complications [OR/95% CI: (2.178/1.279 to 3.707), p < 0.01]. As for long-term survival, the high LAR group had worse OS in stage II (p < 0.01) and stage III (p < 0.01). In both stage II (p < 0.01) and stage III (p < 0.01), the high LAR group exhibited poorer DFS. Additionally, according to Cox regression analysis, LAR was identified as an independent predictor for both OS [HR/95% CI: (1.930/1.554 to 2.398), p < 0.01] and DFS [HR/95% CI: (1.750/1.427 to 2.146), p < 0.01].
Conclusion
LAR emerged as an independent predictor not only for overall complications and major complications but also for both OS and DFS, highlighting its significance and deserving the attention of surgeons.

Flow perturbation to accelerate Boltzmann sampling
2025
Flow-based generative models have been employed for Boltzmann sampling tasks, but their application to high-dimensional systems is hindered by the significant computational cost of obtaining the Jacobian of the flow. We introduce a flow perturbation method that bypasses this bottleneck by injecting stochastic perturbations into the flow, delivering orders-of-magnitude speed-ups. Unlike the Hutchinson estimator, our approach is inherently unbiased in Boltzmann sampling. Notably, this method significantly accelerates Boltzmann sampling of a Chignolin mutant with all atomic Cartesian coordinates explicitly represented, while delivering more accurate results than the Hutchinson estimator.
Flow-based generative models enable Boltzmann sampling but are computationally limited in high-dimensional systems due to costly Jacobian evaluations. The authors introduce a stochastic flow perturbation method that achieves unbiased and significantly faster Boltzmann sampling, outperforming the Hutchinson estimator in both accuracy and efficiency.

Role of Netrin-1 Signaling in Nerve Regeneration
2017
Netrin-1 was the first axon guidance molecule to be discovered in vertebrates and has a strong chemotropic function for axonal guidance, cell migration, morphogenesis and angiogenesis. It is a secreted axon guidance cue that can trigger attraction by binding to its canonical receptors Deleted in Colorectal Cancer (DCC) and Neogenin or repulsion through binding the DCC/Uncoordinated (Unc5) A–D receptor complex. The crystal structures of Netrin-1/receptor complexes have recently been revealed. These studies have provided a structure based explanation of Netrin-1 bi-functionality. Netrin-1 and its receptor are continuously expressed in the adult nervous system and are differentially regulated after nerve injury. In the adult spinal cord and optic nerve, Netrin-1 has been considered as an inhibitor that contributes to axon regeneration failure after injury. In the peripheral nervous system, Netrin-1 receptors are expressed in Schwann cells, the cell bodies of sensory neurons and the axons of both motor and sensory neurons. Netrin-1 is expressed in Schwann cells and its expression is up-regulated after peripheral nerve transection injury. Recent studies indicated that Netrin-1 plays a positive role in promoting peripheral nerve regeneration, Schwann cell proliferation and migration. Targeting of the Netrin-1 signaling pathway could develop novel therapeutic strategies to promote peripheral nerve regeneration and functional recovery.

A study of the binary marginal effect of technical barriers to trade on the export of shellfish and aquatic products in China
2025
This study aims to examine the impact of technical barriers to trade (TBT) on China’s shellfish exports, focusing on both the intensive margin (trade volume) and the extensive margin (trade type). The research includes shellfish and aquatic products such as scallops, mussels, clams, oysters, and abalone, using HS-6 codes from 2003 to 2020. Panel data is employed for analysis. The findings reveal that TBT notifications positively influence the extensive margin by increasing export types but have a less significant effect on the intensive margin. Economic scale, variable trade cost, and productivity level affect both margins. To mitigate the effects of TBT, China should diversify its shellfish exports. Additionally, reducing trade costs can further enhance China’s shellfish export competitiveness.

Exosomes from patients with major depression cause depressive-like behaviors in mice with involvement of miR-139-5p-regulated neurogenesis
2020
Exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) have been suggested to participate in the pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric diseases, but their role in major depressive disorder (MDD) is unknown. We performed a genome-wide miRNA expression profiling of blood-derived exosomes from MDD patients and control subjects and revealed the top differentially expressed exosomal miRNA, i.e. hsa-miR-139-5p (upregulation), had good performance to differentiate between MDD patients and controls. Tail vein injection of blood exosomes isolated from MDD patients into normal mice caused their depressive-like behaviors as determined by the forced swimming, tail suspension, and novelty suppressed feeding tests, and injection of blood exosomes isolated from healthy volunteers into unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-treated mice alleviated their depressive-like behaviors. CUMS mice also showed significantly increased blood and brain levels of exosomal miR-139-5p. Furthermore, the depressive-like behaviors in CUMS-treated mice were rescued by intranasal injection of miR-139-5p antagomir, suggesting that increased exosomal miR-139-5p levels may mediate stress-induced depression-like behavior in mice. Both exosome treatment and miR-139-5p antagomir treatment increased hippocampal neurogenesis in the CUMS-treated mice, and treatment of exosome from MDD patients decreased hippocampal neurogenesis in the normal mice. The role of miR-139-5p in neurogenesis was validated by in vitro experiments, demonstrating that miR-139-5p is a negative regulator for neural stem cell proliferation and neuronal differentiation. Our findings together suggest that exosomes from patients with major depression caused depressive-like behaviors in mice with involvement of miR-139-5p-regulated neurogenesis. Therefore, exosomal miRNAs are promising targets for the diagnosis and treatment of MDD.
