كتاب يشرح علم النفس الاجتماعي، اهتماماته ومناهجه الرئيسية والتنشئة الاجتماعية والدلالة الاجتماعية للاتجاهات ويشرح أيضا سلوك الفرد في المواقف الاجتماعية. بعد فترة من الانقطاع عادت مشكلات علم النفس الاجتماعي تجتذب مرة أخرى انتباه العلماء قاطبة. وثمة أسباب عديدة حفزت على اعتمال هذا الاهتمام المتجدد، فعلم النفس الاجتماعي وعلم التاريخ علمان مترابطان. والعلاقة السببية بين الكائن الاجتماعي وبين الوعي هي جذع المادية التاريخية. والقول إن الكائن الاجتماعي يقرر الوعي هو مبدأ أساسي يفتح آفاقا لا حد لها من العلم والتطور الاجتماعي، هذا ما يعمد الكتاب إلى تفسيره بسعة إدراك، من الوجهتين : الفلسفية والتاريخية الملموسة.
