Reducing workplace accidents in a cement company by assessment of physical and mental workload: A case study
2025
As one of the leading cement companies in Indonesia, PT Semen Padang is known for its extensive distribution network. As the largest cement factory, the employees at this company engage in work that requires a high level of physical and mental effort. Although the tasks performed by the employees may be similar, the experience of psychological workload can vary greatly among them. The TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and AFR (Alternative Fuel and Raw Material) departments in the company have several routine activities carried out daily. The numerous job demands that require physical exertion within limited time constraints can lead to a high workload level for employees in TPM and AFR. This workload is not limited to physical aspects but also includes psychological impacts that can disrupt employees’s concentration and performance. In this study, questionnaires were given to 7 employees from TPM and 7 employees from AFR. Based on the research conducted on physical workload using the CVL method, AFR employees experienced more physical workload compared to TPM employees. In terms of mental workload, using the NASA-TLX method, both TPM and AFR employees had 2 employees each with very high mental workload.

A case study on risk analysis of machine breakdown using the FMEA method
2025
This study addresses the frequent disruptions in PT X, the first cement factory in Indonesia, which affect its productivity and quality. The main problem involves the frequent stoppages of key machinery such as raw mills, kilns, cement mills, and especially coal mills, which are crucial for combustion processes. In 2021, the 6K1 coal mill experienced 384 hours and 38 minutes of downtime, with the Rotary 6K1A03 component being the most problematic, causing 205 out of 359 total disruptions. The Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method was employed to analyze these disturbances. The analysis revealed a critical Risk Priority Number (RPN) value of 5.148, with eight factors exceeding this threshold, including the high current in Rotary 6K1A03, with RPN values of 90, 35, 25, 24, 9, 8, and 6. These critical factors are prioritized for intervention. Consequently, it is imperative to implement management and risk mitigation strategies to address these issues and enhance the operational efficiency of the factory.

Identifying resource-based determinants of technology business incubator performance in Indonesia
2025
Type of the article: Research Article This study investigates the determinants of technology business incubator (TBI) performance in Indonesia using the Resource-Based View (RBV) framework. Startups play a vital role in fostering innovation, yet their sustainability is often challenged by weak managerial capacity, limited access to finance, and fragile networks. Business incubators are designed to mitigate these barriers by providing infrastructure, mentoring, and strategic connections, but their performance varies widely. This research aims to identify which internal and external resources most strongly influence incubator outcomes in the Indonesian context. A quantitative design was employed, with data collected from 100 incubators across government, university, and private institutions. Structured questionnaires were administered to incubator leaders and managers, and responses were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The constructs examined included infrastructure, networking, incubator capabilities, and linkages with universities, with measurement validity and reliability confirmed through composite reliability, average variance extracted (AVE), and discriminant validity tests. The findings show that networking (β = 0.417, p = 0.001) and infrastructure (β = 0.342, p = 0.012) have significant positive effects on incubator performance. In contrast, incubator capabilities (β = 0.162, p = 0.119) and linkages with universities (β = 0.087, p = 0.263) were statistically insignificant, indicating these resources may not directly enhance performance in the current Indonesian setting. The study contributes theoretically by reaffirming RBV as a robust framework for explaining incubator success in emerging economies. Practically, it highlights the priority of investing in strong networks and quality infrastructure to strengthen incubators and accelerate the growth of Indonesia’s startup ecosystem.

Risk analysis of production process for food SMEs using FMEA method: a case study
2021
The increasing development of the industry makes every industry have to compete with other competitors to gain an edge. The advantages of competition are influenced by several factors, one of which is good human resource management. Where if a company has good human resources, it will increase profits indirectly and can increase productivity. This research discusses case studies about the potential dangers of IKM Heppy Bakery’s potential dangers that can harm workers in bread production. The method used is Failure Mode And Effect Analysis (FMEA). Later, the data will be filled and given a rating distinguished into three parts: severity, occurrence, and detection. The data were obtained through questionnaires given to 3 workers at IKM Heppy Bakery and filled in rating values based on the provisions that have been given to the questionnaire. This Value helps determine the Risk Priority Number (RPN) obtained from multiplication between severity, occurrence, and detection. After processing the RPN multiplication data, the highest RPN value was obtained by 193 with the danger factor of the operator overheating and dehydrating due to high temperatures. Furthermore, the calculation of critical Value was obtained by 109. Based on the critical Value obtained seven hazard factors above the critical value, these seven hazard factors need to be improved so that workers do not avoid accidents when conducting the production process.

Increased energy consumption can lead to depletion of fossil energy reserves that can pose a threat to energy supply in Indonesia. One way to increase the intensity of energy savings is to make changes in consumer behavior. The development of gender roles, abilities, and attention led most researchers to argue that women are more consistent in attention to environmental change than men. Women are more concerned with environmental quality and participate in environmental activities. Thus, this research tries to determine the influence of psychological factors on the behavior of household electrical energy consumption in term of gender differences. This study used questionnaires distributed using Google Docs to household electrical respondents several in Indonesia. Referring to ABC (Antecedents-Behaviour-Consequences) model of consumer behavior, the total of 808, questionnaires from 526 male respondents and 282 female respondents were successfully collected. The data were processed by the Partial Least Square Equation Modeling Model (SEM-PLS) using Smart-PLS software. The study concluded that,if given the consequences, women have higher influence to the behavior of electrical energy consumption than men. Overall psychological factors have a positive and significant influence on the behavior of electric energy consumption in Indonesia.
