Competitive Inteligence 2.0: Organization, Innovation and Territory
The recent \"concept of 2.0\", a consequence of \"Web 2.0\", discusses the emergence of a new style, emancipated from the Web, which finds applications in all areas of social activity: management, innovation, education , organization, territory, etc. This book considers the implications of the changing paradigm for competitive, economic and territorial intelligence applied to innovation, value creation and enhancement of territories. Competitive intelligence is therefore in the \"2.0\" and its values: perpetual beta, user-generated content, social relations, etc., horizontality, a renewed legitimacy. This book, collecting contributions from international experts, testifies to the heterogeneity and richness of possible approaches. It provides a totally new way of evaluating the impact of 2.0 with concrete examples, while analyzing the theoretical models allowing the reader to develop in other contexts the described cases of success.
How to use Big Data technologies to optimize operations in Upstream Petroleum Industry
“Big Data is the oil of the new economy” is the most famous citation during the three last years. It has even been adopted by the World Economic Forum in 2011. In fact, Big Data is like crude! It’s valuable, but if unrefined it cannot be used. It must be broken down, analyzed for it to have value. But what about Big Data generated by the Petroleum Industry and particularly its upstream segment? Upstream is no stranger to Big Data. Understanding and leveraging data in the upstream segment enables firms to remain competitive throughout planning, exploration, delineation, and field development.Oil Gas Companies conduct advanced geophysics modeling and simulation to support operations where 2D, 3D 4D Seismic generate significant data during exploration phases. They closely monitor the performance of their operational assets. To do this, they use tens of thousands of data-collecting sensors in subsurface wells and surface facilities to provide continuous and real-time monitoring of assets and environmental conditions. Unfortunately, this information comes in various and increasingly complex forms, making it a challenge to collect, interpret, and leverage the disparate data. As an example, Chevron’s internal IT traffic alone exceeds 1.5 terabytes a day.Big Data technologies integrate common and disparate data sets to deliver the right information at the appropriate time to the correct decision-maker. These capabilities help firms act on large volumes of data, transforming decision-making from reactive to proactive and optimizing all phases of exploration, development and production. Furthermore, Big Data offers multiple opportunities to ensure safer, more responsible operations. Another invaluable effect of that would be shared learning. The aim of this paper is to explain how to use Big Data technologies to optimize operations. How can Big Data help experts to decision-making leading the desired outcomes? Keywords:Big Data; Analytics; Upstream Petroleum Industry;  Knowledge Management; KM; Business Intelligence; BI; Innovation; Decision-making under Uncertainty
Implementation of a distance learning program focused on continuing medical education with the support of patent-based data mining
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present the use of a free code computational tool, Patent2net, in the search of patents for the implementation of distance learning aimed at Continuing Medical Education. Design/methodology/approach This technical report is based on the extraction, organization and availability, in the format of graphs and dynamic tables, and also based on information in other patents on the subject, made available in the Espacenet database. Findings As a result, it was possible to identify a Chinese patent, free for reproduction in Brazil, which describes an e-learning system that simulates 3D scenarios for training nursing teams. Research limitations/implications The paper has used one unique patent database, but containing more than 100m documents. Practical implications The selected patent can contribute to the improvement of care and behavioral techniques of the health professionals. Social implications The training of health professionals can improve the public and supplementary health systems. Originality/value This is the first paper in that de technometric analisys of patents was used to solve a problem regarding the training of health professionals.

Patent technometry by mind maps: a study on the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment
Objective: To demonstrate the possibility of relating bibliographical review and patent technometry in a study on the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).Method:Technometryin patents using a mind map generated from the classification of 466 patent registers. The prospecting of patents was carried out through the software Patent2Net accessing the database of the European Patent Office (EPO).Originality/Relevance:Research in patent databases as a source of information has been growing substantially with advances in information technology, but the identification of relevant records in a given context from the large volume of data available is still a challenge. In this work, we have analysed a method that has not yet been published, which deals with patent technometry with the use of mind maps. Results:The patent records found were related to the main problems mentioned in the literature on WEEE recycling, involving the following aspects: a) separation of high-value components from other elements. b) reduction of the environmental impact of battery recycling; c) transformation of solid waste into material useful or harmless to the environment; d) separation of metals from plastic waste; e) solutions for the adequate collection of residues from the domestic environment; and e) techniques to reduce the health impact of recycling professionals.Theoretical/methodological contributions:Presentation of the method of patent analysisby mind maps as a complementary resource to bibliographic research in studies aimed at technological innovation.

Ciência Aberta Na França: ponto da situação, legislação, iniciativas, ferramentas e medidas
Issues related to open access to scientific publications and the reuse of research data concern research actors, academic communities and society as a whole. Many countries have mobilised themselves around these issues in order to establish policies in favour of the opening up of science. France is both a promoter and coordinator of open science at national and European level. This country has also expressed its commitment at the international level by joining world-class initiatives and coalitions. Faced with the power of certain private players in the publishing market, France insists on its current position: the aim is not to destroy them but rather not to be totally dependent on them. This communication proposes to take France as an example to complement and reinforce the commitment of certain countries to the Open Science movement.
