McLean has nothing to gain looking west
2005
McLean County's ties to Daviess County are traditional, geographical and currently practical. Historically, McLean County began as a part of Daviess County. Geographically, most of the county is closer to Daviess than it is to [Henderson]. More residents of McLean are employed in Daviess County than they are in Henderson. Many McLean County residents attend church in Daviess. The largest religious group in McLean County is joined with Daviess in the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association. Does anyone seriously believe that any county except Henderson will really gain by this venture? The 4-Star Industrial Park, a partnership among these four counties, is located in Henderson County and is farther from most of McLean County residents than are the industrial parks in Daviess. The Henderson industrial park has taken nine years to attract its first and only resident. I suspect the number of McLean County residents who work at that facility is negligible. Similarly, since the industrial park is located in Henderson, other businesses will, of course, go to Henderson County with McLean merely helping foot Henderson's economic development bill.
