RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN EXCESS INSURANCE, SURPLUS LINES INSURANCE, AND REINSURANCE LAW
17 In JPMorgan Chase & Co. v. Indian Harbor Insurance Co ., a New York trial court applying Illinois law and addressing multiple pending motions reached a similar conclusion as the Fifth Circuit in Citigroup . 18 Contending that its excess insurers wrongfully failed to indemnify it, JPMorgan sought reimbursement from the insurers for payments that it made to defend and settle certain underlying professional services claims. 19 JPMorgan had settled its coverage claims against lower-layer excess carriers without allocating the amounts to specific policies.\\n 167 Based on the testimony from these representatives, the arbitrators determined that there was no industry custom to aggregate asbestos non-product claims for purposes of the retention, and therefore that further discovery on the issue was unnecessary. 168 In denying the motion to vacate, the district court held that the arbitration panel's limitation on discovery was within their procedural discretion and was not misconduct. 169 Similarly, the court held that the panel's limitations on testimony from OneBeacon's fact and expert witnesses did not amount to misconduct because the panel heard testimony from both sides over the course of a three-day hearing, and the panel limited OneBeacon's witnesses \"to present the evidence they were competent to present.\"

17 The role and experiences of learning disabilities nurses in paediatric hospital setting
BackgroundOver the past ten years, significant concerns have been publicised in relation to the care and treatment of people with learning disabilities when accessing acute hospitals, with recommendations for all Trusts to have a lead for LD and access to suitably trained staff. An analysis of NHS workforce data by the RCN (2019), identified that within England, since 2009, the NHS has lost 2039 LD nurses. The number of Registered Learning Disability Nurses (RNLDs) employed by GOSH has rapidly increased, with thirteen currently embedded across the Trust. Further understanding of the role and experiences of RNLDs working in a specialist children’s hospital is needed to aid recruitment and retention.AimThe aim of this poster is to outline the role of the RNLD within a specialist children’s hospital and share their experiences, achievements and barriers faced within their roles.MethodsIn-depth interviews were conducted with five RNLD nurses , as well as a staff survey, and discussion with RNLDs within the trust. Results and DiscussionThe research revealed that RNLDs bring specialist skills to the role, including supporting anxious parents, facilitating hospital admissions, and advocating for children and young people with LDs. However, there is also common pattern regarding their lack of paediatric clinical skills or experience when commencing the role and a feeling that their specialist skills in LD are being under-utilised in their clinical area. This sometimes led to feelings of doubt as to whether the hospital setting was an appropriate workplace for them.We have established several processes for improving the recruitment and retention of RNLD within the Trust and improving greater understanding of their role. Including mentorship programme on commencement of employment, strengthening the LD link roles on ward areas, hosting student placements for both RNLDs and children’s nurses, and profiling the RNLDs in trust.

Protocol for research examination of individual suicides occurring in chronic pain: A qualitative approach to psychological autopsy methodology
In the United States, taper and discontinuation of opioids prescribed for long-term pain have emerged as statistical correlates of suicidal events. Suicide is a complex and multidetermined event reflecting a combination of risks occurring over time in a particular narrative context. Prevention of suicides should be informed by a detailed understanding of life events, pain-related and other risk factors contributing to these tragedies. To date, there have been no efforts to qualitatively profile these suicides through interview of bereaved survivors or review of medical records. This method is usually termed \"psychological autopsy.\". This paper summarizes the protocol for the Clinical Context of Suicide Following Opioid Transitions (CSI:OPIOIDs) study. The study seeks to qualitatively characterize patient and clinical context factors associated with suicide among persons who died by suicide in the context of opioid stoppage or reduction, and to compare findings between Veteran and non-Veteran decedents. In the United States, there is no master list for suicide deaths linked to an antemortem health care event. For this reason, recruitment requires public advertising followed by screening of bereaved individuals who wish to participate. Data collection and interpretation are guided by the Social-Ecological Model for suicide. The study involves a collaboration of persons with lived experience and disciplinary experts in suicide, primary care, pain, health services, and medical anthropology. This study aims to deliver the first in-depth analysis of suicide events occurring in persons with chronic pain who died by suicide in the context of a prescription opioid reduction or stoppage. The results should provide insights that can guide alterations to care by health systems and by individual practitioners.

Ensuring best practice in genomics education and evaluation: reporting item standards for education and its evaluation in genomics (RISE2 Genomics)
Widespread, quality genomics education for health professionals is required to create a competent genomic workforce. A lack of standards for reporting genomics education and evaluation limits the evidence base for replication and comparison. We therefore undertook a consensus process to develop a recommended minimum set of information to support consistent reporting of design, development, delivery, and evaluation of genomics education interventions. Draft standards were derived from literature (25 items from 21 publications). Thirty-six international experts were purposively recruited for three rounds of a modified Delphi process to reach consensus on relevance, clarity, comprehensiveness, utility, and design. The final standards include 18 items relating to development and delivery of genomics education interventions, 12 relating to evaluation, and 1 on stakeholder engagement. These Reporting Item Standards for Education and its Evaluation in Genomics (RISE2 Genomics) are intended to be widely applicable across settings and health professions. Their use by those involved in reporting genomics education interventions and evaluation, as well as adoption by journals and policy makers as the expected standard, will support greater transparency, consistency, and comprehensiveness of reporting. Consequently, the genomics education evidence base will be more robust, enabling high-quality education and evaluation across diverse settings.
