Scientific creativity: a literature review
Much research has been done on creativity and the results can be easily found in journals, however, research on scientific creativity as a domain-specific creativity is still relatively rare. Therefore, it is necessary to study the literature to reveal the scope of research on the topic of scientific creativity. To achieve this aim, a literature review was carried out with the procedure adopted from the PRISMA statement. A total of 49 articles obtained from the IJSE, DOAJ, ERIC, IOP Science, ScienceDirect, and Springer Link websites, in the 2001-2019 period, were analyzed. The results showed that the three journals that published the most scientific creativity articles were JEP, IJSE, and CRJ. And, the three countries with the most contributing authors were Turkey, Indonesia, and Taiwan. Except for one critical review article, the research types of all articles analyzed were an empirical study, which consisted of at least five sub-topics of scientific creativity.
Fungi in Selo hiking trail of mount Merbabu national park Central Java
Mount Merbabu National Park has the potential for abundant biodiversity in natural forest vegetation, including flora and fauna. The purpose of this study was to explore and identify fungi in Mount Merbabu National Park on Selo Climbing Lane, Boyolali, Central Java. The research was conducted in January until April 2020 on Selo Climbing Lane, Boyolali. This research was exploratory by using Cruise Methods , which explored the hiking trail at 1800-2571 meters altitude. Sampling was carried out every time the fungi were identified, and it was done when the same fungi were found. Identification was made by recording morphological characteristics, habitus, and the substrate through qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the 52 identified species of fungi belonged to the 26 families of fungi. The most common fungi are the Polyporaceae family, which consists of 5 species, namely: Trametes versicolor, Trametes polyzona, Polyporus sp, Polyporus versicolor dan Ganoderma applanatum.
Students' behaviour towards etno-STEM: instruments for students of etno-STEM based science education
The learning process that is synergistic with the development of the current era is very necessary. Local wisdom that is aligned with technology is a challenge. Therefore, this study aims at developing a tool which is functioned to measure students' readiness towards developing instruments related to etno-STEM based Science Education courses. The selected items were given to the expert team for validation. The initial trial of the initial instrument was done using the main component analysis and Cronbach alpha coefficient. The results of a strong coefficient on each instrument can be used as a reference for implementing etno-STEM based Science Education. The wisdom of the Indonesian people towards the wealth of natural resources and their use is influenced by the lifestyle of the Indonesian people who still tend to be weary. Human resources that are aware of local wisdom and technology and its impact on the environment are needed. Students are as agents of change; developing or not a culture of maintaining etno-STEM based technology friendly local wisdom.
Analysis of students' scientific creativity and science process skills at UIN Walisongo Semarang
Many studies show a low scientific creativity of students. One of the causes is the teacher's inability to ask questions that encourage students to think scientifically creative so that it causes low science process skills. The study aims to analyze the scientific creativity and science process skills of students of UIN Walisongo Semarang. This is a qualitative research use descriptive method. The research subjects were determined by purposive sampling. Data collection method uses respondents' answers to the Scientific Creativity test and deep interviews. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman models. The result showed that the scientific creativity of students had not a well-developed. While the science process skills of respondents have well developed.
Spesies richness of Orchidaceae in Selo Resort Mount Merbabu National Park Central Java
Mount Merbabu National Park with an area management system into 5 resort areas, namely Selo, Wonolelo, Pakis, Kopeng, Ampel and diversity in these places is highly and still sustainable. One of the plants that has a high diversity of species is the orchid (Orchidaceae). Orchids are a family of plants that have a fairly high variation and are very interesting. It is estimated that in the world there are about 20,000 species. This study aims to determine the species richness of orchids in mount Merbabu National Park resort Selo. This study uses the cruising method by making observations along the path with a radius of 10 m to the right and 10 m to the left. then recorded any orchid species found. The research found 7 species of orchids in mount Merbabu National Park resort Selo : Habenaria multipartita, Oberonia similis, Liparis pallida, Malaxis kobi, Coelegyne sp, Bulbophyllum flavescens, and Cheirostylis sp.
The development of andro-webcomic media based on problem-based learning to improve analytical thinking ability and scientific attitude
The research aimed to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of Andro-Webcomic media based on problem-based learning as a learning media to improve students’ analytical thinking ability and scientific attitudes. The development design used was Research and Development (R&D) and used the ADDIE model, limited to the ADD (Analysis, Design, Development) stage. At the product development stage, small-scale trials are carried out, which this phrase was limited to 9 students of class XI MIPA at one of the high schools in Jepara. The instruments used were validation sheets, test sheets, observation sheets for students’ scientific attitudes, student and teacher questionnaire responses. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the validity of the Andro-Webcomic media is 95.58%; (2) effective in improving analytical thinking of 88.89% with an n-gain score of 67% and a scientific attitude of 87.19%; (3) practicality based on student responses of 98.39% and teacher responses of 97.36%; (4) media component that supports improving competencies is on the webcomic and investigation menu. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Andro-Webcomic media is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ analytical thinking ability and scientific attitudes.
Development of biology teaching management textbooks based on competency and conservation to maximize Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (PCK) the prospective teachers
The objectives of this research are: (1) to examine the feasibility of competences and conservation-based textbook of Biology teaching management, (2) to test the effectiveness of the developed textbooks in the small and large-scale test. This study is an Educational Research and Development (R & D) following the stages of potential and problems analysis, data collection, product design, product validation, trial usage, product revision, and mass production. The results of the feasibility assessment of the product by the expert, the textbook have content the very feasible criteria (77,88), and media experts gave very feasible criteria (83,35). In the small-scale test, the students responded that the book had met the criteria of excellent legibility, on 14 indicators of product legibility with an average legibility value of 90,07. The textbook legibility is excellent since the sentence is understandable and communicative, has illustration adequacy, easy to use, relevant to the competences achievement, as well as there is the integration of conservation character values and TPACK description. The large-scale test showed that the application of the developed textbook was effective in maximizing the ability of prospective teachers' PCK. It is found that competences and conservation-based Biology Teaching Management textbook are very feasible and powerful to maximize the PCK of prospective biology teachers.
Establishment of conservation character and metacognition capability's students through plant anatomy lesson with JAS (neighborhood exploration) approach
This study aims to test the effectiveness of JAS (Neighborhood Exploration) approach to shaping the character of conservation and metacognition ability in the students so that it can realize UNNES vision as a conservation university. Metacognition ability is very important because it determines the success of learning. Conservation characters include eight (8) values that are, inspiration, humanist, care, innovative, creative, sportive, honest and fair. The formation of conservation character in the students, besides done through the subject of Conservation Education, can also be implemented through the course of Plant Anatomy. This research is quantitative descriptive. The study was conducted in the even semester of 2017-2018. The population is even semester student of Biology Education program. Determination of sample taken by cluster random sampling obtained a sample of student semester four (4). The lessons were held for 4 meetings. At the end of each course, the students are asked to fill out a questionnaire about their attitude, and metacognition ability, to know the progress. Data were analysed descriptively. The results showed that of the three meetings, students' metacognitive abilities increased. Developed attitudes are religious, honest, responsible, care, innovative and sportive. Conclusion, lecture Plant Anatomy with JAS approach effective to form conservation character and developability of student metacognition.
Exploring school culture experienced by science teacher in promoting scientific literacy in Central Java
This studyaimed todescribe school cultures experienced by science teachers from three districts in Central Java, such as Kudus, Magelang and Brebes, from which some junior high schools are being promoted to be school models of scientific literacy, to explore symbolic nature of science teaching quality, and to identify possible barriers for its promotion. School culture was defined as science teacher's perceptions of shared beliefs, values, and moral of the extend to which teachers experienced three constructs like professional collaborations, collegial communications, and self-determinations during their service to schools. Self-assessment with 17 items, from the 2015-2016 Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement Inc., was used with some modifications. 50 science teachers from these Districts completed the questionnaire.Observation was implemented to describe physical school environments. Open interviews were conducted to school principals, science teachers and students. Data analysis was focussed on the extend to which school culture components were strong, weak, and the meaning of symbolic nature. Findings showed(i) science teachers experienced good collegial relationships and self-determinations, but weak professional collaborations,(ii) science teaching quality was not contextual and lack of connectedness to socio-scientific issues and students' creative portfolios, and (iii) school was lack of shared vision and mission that could be the most barrier for school improvement.
Meta-analysis of learning design on sciences to develop a teacher's professionalism training model
This research explored a meta-analysis ofthe teaching design on sciences teachers' lesson plans to develop the training model in achieving 21st-century learning competence and the implementation of the scientifically literate school model. This is a qualitative research with descriptively qualitative analysis. The sample was the members of sciences teacher's organizations in Brebes Central Java Indonesia. Data was collected by documentation, observation, interviews, and questionnaires scale understanding. Analysis of the lesson plans focused on the correctness of development concept and integration of Strengthening Character Education; School Literacy Movement; Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Creativity; and Higher Order Thinking Skill. The sciences teachers had a good understanding of the components of the lesson plan, but needed further training. The integration of the character education by the teacher was not explicitly written into their lesson plan. The teachers' skill to integrate the components was still needed improvements. It is found that training and mentoring of lesson plan development to improve the skills of science teachers in achieving 21st-century learning competencies are still urgent to be done. The training and mentoring model proposed here is Peretipe model, to help teachers skillfully design good lesson plans based on Technological Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge.
