The free and objective consideration of public affairs: A Bulgarian view of Glasnost, 1868
1993
Pteko R. Slaveikov, one of the foremost writers and public figures of the Bulgarian Vuzrazhdane, or national renaissance, made the \"Makedoniya\" the most important and influential newspaper of the period. An article printed in an 1868 issue--possibly written by Slaveikov--calling for more publicity or openness in the Bulgarian government is discussed. Slaveikov conceived glasnost and yavnost as means to stimulate national feeling and pride.
