The Wagnerian Mythos: National Origin and Musical Culture
In the mid-nineteenth century Richard Wagner participated in a project of German identity building through his operas based on Germanic sagas. Even in his less-mythic dramas, such as Tannhäuser, Wagner brings together disparate mythologies, histories, and/or legends to celebrate a narrative of shared “Germanness”. In these works, Wagner works to establish the continuum which Benedict Anderson identifies as crucial to formations of national consciousness. His use of the medieval German literary canon as well as various Norse sagas as source materials establishes the German “antiquity”, and his narratives provide his opinion on—and thus assume the existence of—the present and potential future for Germans. I argue that through this lens it is possible to track a consistent image of “Germanness” in several of Wagner’s most important works.Exclusion also played a major role for Wagner, however, as his operas frequently warn against the dangers of “foreign influence.” As evident in his polemic writings, Wagner sought to create a definition of “Germanness” which excluded various groups, primarily German Jews. This exclusion also served to solidify Wagner’s self-styled place at the top of the German musical canon. This study seeks to identify Wagner’s nationalistic project in several of his earlier works as well as his chef-d’oeuvre Ring des Nibelungen and trace how he and the Wagnerians sought to maintain his vision of “Germanness” into the 20th century.

A Toolbox for Supporting Integrated Education
This article offers an approach to providing integrated education for students with disabilities by effectively involving major stakeholders (building-level administrators, general education staff, special education staff, and students). A matrix displays categories of support (beliefs/values, content, methods, and adult-adult interactions) for each of these stakeholder groups. (DB)
Backplanes: Living in the Real World
It has been shown that dielectric constant (Dk) and dielectric loss tangent (Df) vary with frequency (Ref. 2). This, however, only scratches the surface of the real problem. Temperature also has a major impact on the Dk and Df of any given material. This phenomenon is well documented. Briefly, temperature increases both the Dk and Df of most laminate materials because of the increased activation of ionic species in the resin matrix (Ref. 3).
Va Integrated Post-Combat Care
Since 2001 over two million U.S. military personnel have been deployed to the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these individuals, over one million have separated from the military and are eligible for health care and other services through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) system of care. Approximately 50 percent of these eligible Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn (OEF/OIF/OND/) combat Veterans have used VA services since 2001 based on Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) data. (NB: A Veteran is defined as a person who served in active military service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. A Service Member is defined as a member of the active duty military service or a member of the National Guard or Reserve Forces. A member of the National Guard and Reserve Forces could also be a Veteran.)
