Distributed Optimal and Self-Tuning Filters Based on Compressed Data for Networked Stochastic Uncertain Systems with Deception Attacks

In this study, distributed security estimation problems for networked stochastic uncertain systems subject to stochastic deception attacks are investigated. In sensor networks, the measurement data of sensor nodes may be attacked maliciously in the process of data exchange between sensors. When the attack rates and noise variances for the stochastic deception attack signals are known, many measurement data received from neighbour nodes are compressed by a weighted measurement fusion algorithm based on the least-squares method at each sensor node. A distributed optimal filter in the linear minimum variance criterion is presented based on compressed measurement data. It has the same estimation accuracy as and lower computational cost than that based on uncompressed measurement data. When the attack rates and noise variances of the stochastic deception attack signals are unknown, a correlation function method is employed to identify them. Then, a distributed self-tuning filter is obtained by substituting the identified results into the distributed optimal filtering algorithm. The convergence of the presented algorithms is analyzed. A simulation example verifies the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

DeepGFT: identifying spatial domains in spatial transcriptomics of complex and 3D tissue using deep learning and graph Fourier transform

The rapid advancements in spatially resolved transcriptomics (SRT) enable the characterization of gene expressions while preserving spatial information. However, high dropout rates and noise hinder accurate spatial domain identification for understanding tissue architecture. We present DeepGFT, a method that simultaneously models spot-wise and gene-wise relationships by integrating deep learning with graph Fourier transform for spatial domain identification. Benchmarking results demonstrate the superiority of DeepGFT over existing methods. DeepGFT detects tumor substructures with immune-related differences in human breast cancer, identifies the complex germinal centers accurately in human lymph node, and accurately reveals the developmental changes in 3D Drosophila data.

Self-Tuning Distributed Fusion Filter for Multi-Sensor Networked Systems with Unknown Packet Receiving Rates, Noise Variances, and Model Parameters

In this study, we researched the problem of self-tuning (ST) distributed fusion state estimation for multi-sensor networked stochastic linear discrete-time systems with unknown packet receiving rates, noise variances (NVs), and model parameters (MPs). Packet dropouts may occur when sensor data are sent to a local processor. A Bernoulli distributed stochastic variable is adopted to depict phenomena of packet dropouts. By model transformation, the identification problem of packet receiving rates is transformed into that of unknown MPs for a new augmented system. The recursive extended least squares (RELS) algorithm is used to simultaneously identify packet receiving rates and MPs in the original system. Then, a correlation function method is used to identify unknown NVs. Further, a ST distributed fusion state filter is achieved by applying identified packet receiving rates, NVs, and MPs to the corresponding optimal estimation algorithms. It is strictly proven that ST algorithms converge to optimal algorithms under the condition that the identifiers for parameters are consistent. Two examples verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

Distributed Fusion Estimation for Multisensor Multirate Systems with Stochastic Observation Multiplicative Noises

This paper studies the fusion estimation problem of a class of multisensor multirate systems with observation multiplicative noises. The dynamic system is sampled uniformly. Sampling period of each sensor is uniform and the integer multiple of the state update period. Moreover, different sensors have the different sampling rates and observations of sensors are subject to the stochastic uncertainties of multiplicative noises. At first, local filters at the observation sampling points are obtained based on the observations of each sensor. Further, local estimators at the state update points are obtained by predictions of local filters at the observation sampling points. They have the reduced computational cost and a good real-time property. Then, the cross-covariance matrices between any two local estimators are derived at the state update points. At last, using the matrix weighted optimal fusion estimation algorithm in the linear minimum variance sense, the distributed optimal fusion estimator is obtained based on the local estimators and the cross-covariance matrices. An example shows the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

State Estimation for a Class of Non-Uniform Sampling Systems with Missing Measurements

This paper is concerned with the state estimation problem for a class of non-uniform sampling systems with missing measurements where the state is updated uniformly and the measurements are sampled randomly. A new state model is developed to depict the dynamics at the measurement sampling points within a state update period. A non-augmented state estimator dependent on the missing rate is presented by applying an innovation analysis approach. It can provide the state estimates at the state update points and at the measurement sampling points within a state update period. Compared with the augmented method, the proposed algorithm can reduce the computational burden with the increase of the number of measurement samples within a state update period. It can deal with the optimal estimation problem for single and multi-sensor systems in a unified way. To improve the reliability, a distributed suboptimal fusion estimator at the state update points is also given for multi-sensor systems by using the covariance intersection fusion algorithm. The simulation research verifies the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

A Projection Strategy for Improving the Preconditioner in the LOBPCG

The computational methods for solving the generalized eigenvalue problems of real symmetric matrices are crucial in fields such as structural dynamics analysis. As the scale of the problems to be solved increases, higher efficiency in solving eigenvalue problems is demanded. The LOBPCG (locally optimal block preconditioned conjugate gradient) method is a promising iterative algorithm suitable for solving large-scale eigenvalue problems, capable of quickly solving multiple extreme eigenpairs. In the LOBPCG, the preconditioner can be executed by calling the truncated PCG to approximately solve the ‘inner’ linear system. However, the convergence rate of the LOBPCG is highly sensitive to the quality of its preconditioner. Only when paired with an appropriate preconditioner, the LOBPCG is notably efficient in minimizing the iterations needed for convergence. This paper proposed a projection strategy which can enhance the quality of the preconditioner, thus improving the overall efficiency and stability of the LOBPCG. The projection strategy first utilizes intermediate vectors from the PCG iterations to construct search subspaces and constraint subspaces for oblique projection, and then executes the oblique projection in truncated PCG when solving inner linear system. This oblique projection technique can find a more accurate approximate solution which minimizes the 2-norm residuals in the search subspace without significantly increasing computational cost, thereby improving the quality of the preconditioner, thus accelerating convergence of the LOBPCG.Numerical experiments show that the projection strategy can improve the LOBPCG algorithm significantly in terms of efficiency and stability.

Resonance Detection Method and Realization of Bearing Fault Signal Based on Kalman Filter and Spectrum Analysis

The rolling bearing is an important part of mechanical equipment, and its performance significantly affects the quality and life of the mechanical equipment. This article uses the integrated fiber Bragg grating resonant structure sensor excited by periodic micro-shocks caused by micro faults to realize the extraction of information relating to potential faults. Because the fault signal is weak and can easily be interfered with by ambient noise, in order to extract the effective signal, this article determines the autoregressive model of bearing vibration by the final prediction error criterion and the recursive least squares estimation algorithm. The augmented state space model is established based on the autoregressive model. A Kalman filter is used to reduce the noise interference, and then the reduction noisy signal is analyzed by power spectrum and improved autocorrelation envelope spectrum to realize the detection of bearing faults. Through data analysis and method comparison, the proposed improved autocorrelation envelope spectrum analysis can directly extract the bearing fault frequency, which is superior to other methods such as cepstral analysis.

Advances in Multi-Sensor Information Fusion: Theory and Applications 2017

The information fusion technique can integrate a large amount of data and knowledge representing the same real-world object and obtain a consistent, accurate, and useful representation of that object. The data may be independent or redundant, and can be obtained by different sensors at the same time or at different times. A suitable combination of investigative methods can substantially increase the profit of information in comparison with that from a single sensor. Multi-sensor information fusion has been a key issue in sensor research since the 1970s, and it has been applied in many fields. For example, manufacturing and process control industries can generate a lot of data, which have real, actionable business value. The fusion of these data can greatly improve productivity through digitization. The goal of this special issue is to report innovative ideas and solutions for multi-sensor information fusion in the emerging applications era, focusing on development, adoption, and applications.

Investigation into the Hot-Forming Limit for 22MnB5 Hot-Forming Steel under a Stamping Process

Hot-forming technology for 22MnB5 hot-forming steel (22MnB5 HF steel) plates has been widely used in the automobile manufacturing industry in recent years. Physical simulation and numerical modeling were carried out in order to determine the forming limit of a 22MnB5 steel plate for the stamping process. The deformation experiments were performed in a temperature range of 600~900 °C and a strain rate range of 0.1~10 s−1. In the uniaxial tensile tests, it was found that at the forming temperature of 600 °C, the condition of dynamic recrystallization was not fully reached, and thus the corresponding tensile strength was much larger than that at other deformation temperatures. In the numerical simulation of bulging experiments, it was found that 22MnB5 steel had good formability when the initial deformation temperature was high and the forming speed was low by using the instability criterion, combining the maximum punch force and strain path transition. The forming limit diagram of 22MnB5 steel at a temperature of 700 °C and tool speed of 25 mm/s was obtained by means of simulation and a hot stamping experiment. The establishment of the forming limit of the 22MnB5 steel plate can provide theoretical and technical guidance for the hot-forming process.

Simultaneous Smoothing and Untangling of 2D Meshes Based on Explicit Element Geometric Transformation and Element Stitching

Mesh quality can affect both the accuracy and efficiency of numerical solutions. This paper first proposes a geometry-based smoothing and untangling method for 2D meshes based on explicit element geometric transformation and element stitching. A new explicit element geometric transformation (EEGT) operation for polygonal elements is firstly presented. The transformation, if applied iteratively to an arbitrary polygon (even inverted), will improve its regularity and quality. Then a well-designed element stitching scheme is introduced, which is achieved by carefully choosing appropriate element weights to average the temporary nodes obtained by the above individual element transformation. Based on the explicit element geometric transformation and element stitching, a new mesh smoothing and untangling approach for 2D meshes is proposed. The proper choice of averaging weights for element stitching ensures that the elements can be transitioned smoothly and uniformly throughout the calculation domain. Numerical results show that the proposed method is able to produce high-quality meshes with no inverted elements for highly tangled meshes. Besides, the inherent regularity and fine-grained parallelism make it suitable for implementation on Graphic Processor Unit (GPU).
