The US authorities launched their criminal inquiry and filed charges after they were contacted by an unidentified whistleblower who had conducted his own investigations into Mr Sarao's trading for years. The individual, who wishes his name and nationality to remain secret, could receive a multi-million-dollar \"bounty\" if Mr Sarao is convicted At a preliminary extradition hearing at Westminster magistrates' court in London yesterday, Mr Sarao was granted bail conditional on provision of a security of Pounds 5million and being fitted with an electronic tag. Because of the complex conditions attached to his bail, he is not expected to be freed from custody until the end of the week.
