Practical application of drum-buffer-rope to synchronize a two-stage supply chain
2002
A description of the synchronization of the final two stages of an international supply chain for an electronics instrumentation manufacturer is presented. The supply chain was redesigned from a traditional manufacturing operation to a synchronized supply chain to reduce a supplier response time of 3 to 5 weeks to a consistent 10 days across all products. The implementation of the drum-buffer-rope theory of constraints methodology is covered in detail and two new global performance measures are introduced: equivalent throughput and total system inventory. The synchronized supply chain that resulted achieved excellent delivery performance with a medium investment in capacity, inventory, and information management.

The Chance of a Miracle at Montfaucon
2014
Military historians have blamed the American Expeditionary Forces’ 79th Division for the failure to capture the critical butte of Montfaucon on the first day of the Meuse‐Argonne offensive. A close examination of the orders, recollections of participants, and a neglected file in the U.S. National Archives, however, reveal that a portion of the blame more properly rests with General Robert L. Bullard, commander of III Corps. Although Bullard understood the orders of the First Army for his 4th Division to envelop Montfaucon from the east and north, he directed the division to forgo the turning maneuver and to advance as quickly as possible to the front. Bullard's disobedience precluded the possibility of breaching the Kriemhilde Stellung and putting an early end to the war.

Firmly I Believe and Truly: The Spiritual Tradition of Catholic England, An Anthology of Writings from 1483 to 1999
2015
The editors state clearly that they had three objectives in developing this work: first, to provide access to Catholics and non-Catholics with many important but neglected works that contributed the English Catholic tradition; secondly, to provide new readers with a solid introduction to the foremost contributors to English spirituality, and, finally, to provide a much needed and useful modern enchiridion (a manual, handbook, or ready reference) to the English spiritual tradition.
