Associated Risk Factors of STIs and Multiple Sexual Relationships among Youths in Malawi
Having unprotected sex with multiple sexual partners (MSP) is the greatest risk factor for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among youths. Young people with MSPs are less likely to use a condom and the greater the risk for STIs. This study examines the associated risk factors of STIs and multiple sexual partnerships among youths aged 15-24 years.
The Malawi Demographic Health Survey 2010 data was used. Out of a sample of 2,987 males and 9,559 females aged 15-24 years, 2,026 males and 6,470 females were considered in the study. Chi square test and logistic regression techniques were performed. Analysis was performed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.
The results indicate that 1,399 (69.0%) males and 2,290 (35.4%) females reported multiple sexual partnerships (MSP). Within the rural area, females (n = 1779) were more likely to report MSP than males (n = 1082) and within the urban areas, a higher proportion of females (n = 511) still reported MSP, with males (n = 316). About 78% rural females aged 20-24 years, and about 79% rural males aged 15-19 years reported MSP. The likelihood of MSP was higher among females in the poorest households (OR = 1.31), being married (OR = 5.71) and Catholic males (OR = 1.63), who were married (OR = 1.59). Catholic males (OR = 1.82) in the rural areas, who were married (OR = 1.80) and rural females in the northern region (OR = 1.26) were more likely to have MSP. The odds ratios were higher among urban females in the poorest (OR = 3.45) households who were married (OR = 4.22).
Having more than one sexual partner increases the risk of STIs and sexuality education programs should be introduced that emphasize the danger that surrounds MSP.

The Impact of Different Touchpoints on Brand Consideration

Marketers face the challenge of resource allocation across a range of touchpoints. Hence understanding their relative impact is important, but previous research tends to examine brand advertising, retailer touchpoints, word-of-mouth, and traditional earned touchpoints separately. This article presents an approach to understanding the relative impact of multiple touchpoints. It exemplifies this approach with six touchpoint types: brand advertising, retailer advertising, in-store communications, word-of-mouth, peer observation (seeing other customers), and traditional earned media such as editorial. Using the real-time experience tracking (RET) method by which respondents report on touchpoints by contemporaneous text message, the impact of touchpoints on change in brand consideration is studied in four consumer categories: electrical goods, technology products, mobile handsets, and soft drinks. Both touchpoint frequency and touchpoint positivity, the valence of the customer's affective response to the touchpoint, are modeled. While relative touchpoint effects vary somewhat by category, a pooled model suggests the positivity of in-store communication is in general more influential than that of other touchpoints including brand advertising. An almost entirely neglected touchpoint, peer observation, is consistently significant. Overall, findings evidence the relative impact of retailers, social effects and third party endorsement in addition to brand advertising. Touchpoint positivity adds explanatory power to the prediction of change in consideration as compared with touchpoint frequency alone. This suggests the importance of methods that track touchpoint perceptual response as well as frequency, to complement current analytic approaches such as media mix modeling based on media spend or exposure alone.

Structure of Gcn1 bound to stalled and colliding 80S ribosomes
The Gcn pathway is conserved in all eukaryotes, including mammals such as humans, where it is a crucial part of the integrated stress response (ISR). Gcn1 serves as an essential effector protein for the kinase Gcn2, which in turn is activated by stalled ribosomes, leading to phosphorylation of eIF2 and a subsequent global repression of translation. The fine-tuning of this adaptive response is performed by the Rbg2/Gir2 complex, a negative regulator of Gcn2. Despite the wealth of available biochemical data, information on structures of Gcn proteins on the ribosome has remained elusive. Here we present a cryo-electron microscopy structure of the yeast Gcn1 protein in complex with stalled and colliding 80S ribosomes. Gcn1 interacts with both 80S ribosomes within the disome, such that the Gcn1 HEAT repeats span from the P-stalk region on the colliding ribosome to the P-stalk and the A-site region of the lead ribosome. The lead ribosome is stalled in a nonrotated state with peptidyl-tRNA in the A-site, uncharged tRNA in the P-site, eIF5A in the E-site, and Rbg2/Gir2 in the A-site factor binding region. By contrast, the colliding ribosome adopts a rotated state with peptidyl-tRNA in a hybrid A/P-site, uncharged-tRNA in the P/E-site, and Mbf1 bound adjacent to the mRNA entry channel on the 40S subunit. Collectively, our findings reveal the interaction mode of the Gcn2-activating protein Gcn1 with colliding ribosomes and provide insight into the regulation of Gcn2 activation. The binding of Gcn1 to a disome has important implications not only for the Gcn2-activated ISR, but also for the general ribosome-associated quality control pathways.
