Load Balancing Selection Method and Simulation in Network Communication Based on AHP-DS Heterogeneous Network Selection Algorithm

This article proposes an Analytic Hierarchy Process Dempster-Shafer (AHP-DS) and similarity-based network selection algorithm for the scenario of dynamic changes in user requirements and network environment; combines machine learning with network selection and proposes a decision tree-based network selection algorithm; combines multiattribute decision-making and genetic algorithm to propose a weighted Gray Relation Analysis (GRA) and genetic algorithm-based network access decision algorithm. Firstly, the training data is obtained from the collaborative algorithm, and it is used as the training set, and the network attributes are used as the attribute set, and the continuous attributes are discretized by dichotomization, and the attribute that can make the greatest information gain is selected as the division feature, and a decision tree with strong generalization ability is finally obtained, which is used as the decision basis for network access selection. The simulation results show that the algorithm proposed in this thesis can effectively improve user service quality under three services, and the algorithm is simple and effective with low complexity. It first uses AHP-DS hierarchical analysis to establish a recursive hierarchy for the network selection problem and obtains the subjective weights of network attributes through the judgment matrix. Then, it uses a genetic algorithm to adjust the subjective weight, defines the fitness function in the genetic algorithm-based on gray correlation analysis, adjusts the weights of the selection operator, crossover operator, and variation operator in the genetic algorithm, and gets the network with the largest fitness as the target network, which can effectively improve the user service quality.

Generalized partially functional linear model

In this paper, a generalized partially functional linear regression model is proposed and the asymptotic property of the proposed estimated coefficients in the model is established. Extensive simulation experiment results are consistent with the theoretical result. Finally, two application examples of the model are given. One is sleep quality study where we studied the effects of heart rate, percentage of sleep time on total sleep in bed, wake after sleep onset and number of wakening during the night on sleep quality in 22 healthy people. The other one is mortality rate where we studied the effects of air quality index, temperature, relative humidity, GDP per capita and the number of beds per thousand people on the mortality rate across 80 major cities in China.

Enhancing Endangered Feline Conservation in Asia via a Pose-Guided Deep Learning Framework for Individual Identification

The re-identification of endangered felines is critical for species conservation and biodiversity assessment. This paper proposes the Pose-Guided Network with the Adaptive L2 Regularization (PGNet-AL2) framework to overcome key challenges in wild feline re-identification, such as extensive pose variations, small sample sizes, and inconsistent image quality. This framework employs a dual-branch architecture for multi-level feature extraction and incorporates an adaptive L2 regularization mechanism to optimize parameter learning, effectively mitigating overfitting in small-sample scenarios. Applying the proposed method to the Amur Tiger Re-identification in the Wild (ATRW) dataset, we achieve a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 91.3% in single-camera settings, outperforming the baseline PPbM-b (Pose Part-based Model) by 18.5 percentage points. To further evaluate its generalization, we apply it to a more challenging task, snow leopard re-identification, using a dataset of 388 infrared videos obtained from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). Despite the poor quality of infrared videos, our method achieves a mAP of 94.5%. The consistent high performance on both the ATRW and snow leopard datasets collectively demonstrates the method’s strong generalization capability and practical utility.

RAMP1 as a novel prognostic biomarker in pan-cancer and osteosarcoma

Receptor activity modifying protein 1 (RAMP1) facilitates the localization of the calcitonin-like receptor (CLR) to the plasma membrane, but its role in osteosarcoma (OS) remains unclear. We evaluated the RAMP1 expression and prognostic value across different cancers, studying tumor immune infiltration. The prognostic value was analyzed using the GSE39058 and TARGET datasets. Differential gene expression was evaluated. a protein-protein interaction network was constructed, and gene set enrichment analysis was performed. The function of RAMP1 in the tumor microenvironment was analyzed, and its expression in OS cell lines was validated using quantitative real-time PCR. High RAMP1 expression correlated with poor prognosis relative to low RAMP1 expression ( p < 0.05). Low RAMP1 expression correlated with an abundance of CD4+ memory-activated T cells. whereas a high expression level correlated with a high proportion of gamma-delta T cells (γδ T cells). Differentially expressed genes from TARGET was enriched in olfactory transduction pathways (normalized enrichment scores [NES] = 1.6998, p < 0.0001). RAMP1 expression negatively correlated with CD44 expression but positively correlated with TNFSF9 expression. The RAMP1 gene is substantially expressed in OS cells compared to the normal osteoblast cell line hFOB1.19. Thus, RAMP1 may be a prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target in OS.

CD47 is an immunoglobulin that is overexpressed on the surface of many types of cancer cells. CD47 forms a signaling complex with signal-regulatory protein α (SIRPα), enabling the escape of these cancer cells from macrophage-mediated phagocytosis. In recent years, CD47 has been shown to be highly expressed by various types of solid tumors and to be associated with poor patient prognosis in various types of cancer. A growing number of studies have since demonstrated that inhibiting the CD47-SIRPα signaling pathway promotes the adaptive immune response and enhances the phagocytosis of tumor cells by macrophages. Improved understanding in this field of research could lead to the development of novel and effective anti-tumor treatments that act through the inhibition of CD47 signaling in cancer cells. In this review, we describe the structure and function of CD47, provide an overview of studies that have aimed to inhibit CD47-dependent avoidance of macrophage-mediated phagocytosis by tumor cells, and assess the potential and challenges for targeting the CD47-SIRPα signaling pathway in anti-cancer therapy.

Study on distribution of sidewall earth pressure on open caissons considering soil arching effect

Based on the soil arching effect theory, the magnitude and distribution of sidewall earth pressure on open caissons when the embedded depth is large was analyzed by using theory of non-limit state earth pressure theory and horizontal differential element method. The theoretical formula was deduced. The theoretical calculation results are compared with the field test results and centrifugal model test results respectively. The results show that when the embedded depth of the open caisson is large, the distribution of earth pressure on the side wall of the open caisson first increases with the increase of embedded depth, reaches a peak value, and then sharply decreases. The peak point is located at 2/3 ~ 4/5 of the embedded depth. In engineering practice, when the embedded depth of the open caisson is 40 m, the relative error between the field test value and the theoretical calculation value is − 55.8% ~ 1.2%, with an average error of 13.8%. When the equivalent embedded depth of the open caisson in the centrifugal model test is 36 m, the relative error between the centrifugal model test value and the theoretical calculation value is − 20.1% ~ 68.0%, with an average error of 10.6%, The results are consistent well. The results of this article provides reference for the design and construction of open caisson.

Intraparotid lymph node metastasis affects distant metastasis in parotid adenoid cystic carcinoma

To evaluate the relationship between factors of metastatic intraparotid lymph node (IPLN) and distant metastasis in parotid adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC). Patients with surgically treated parotid ACC were retrospectively enrolled, and primary outcome variable was distant metastasis free survival (DMFS). The effect of factors of metastatic IPLN on DMFS was evaluated using Cox model. In total, 232 patients were included. Extranodal extension of IPLN and cervical lymph nodes did not impact the DMFS, and the 7th but not 8th AJCC N stage was associated with DMFS. Groups of 0 and 1 metastatic IPLN had comparable DMFS, but presence of 2+ positive IPLN was related to increased worse DMFS (p = 0.034, HR 2.09). A new N stage (0 vs 1–2 vs 3+) based on total positive lymph node number exhibited better C-index than traditional N stage. IPLN metastasis increased the risk of distant metastasis, and the impact was mainly determined by the number of metastatic IPLN. Our proposed N stage provided better DMFS prediction than the 8th AJCC N classification.

Bioaccessibility of Cd and its Correlation with Divalent Mineral Nutrients in Locally Grown Rice from Two Provinces in China

Rice and rice products are the main sources of Cd contamination in humans. The total and bioaccessible concentrations of Cd and three divalent nutrients, Mn, Cu, and Zn, in locally grown rice grains from Hunan and Guangdong Provinces in China were investigated. An in vitro physiologically based extraction test method was introduced to evaluate the bioaccessibility of the target metals in the rice grains. The mean concentrations of Cd in the rice grains were 0.245 mg/kg and 0.235 mg/kg from Hunan and Guangdong Provinces, respectively. Large variations were observed in the Cd concentrations, indicating a heterogeneous distribution of Cd contamination throughout the study areas. The bioaccessibility of Cd, Mn, and Zn in the gastrointestinal fractions was significantly lower than that in the gastric fractions. In contrast, the bioaccessibility of Cu at the intestinal phase was detected in the rice grains from both provinces. The correlation analysis showed significant relationships between total Cd concentrations and bioaccessible Cd fractions, indicating that higher total Cd in rice grains always resulted in higher bioaccessible Cd. Consistent correlations in the rice grains were observed between Zn and Mn. However, a lack of correlation was found between Cd and Zn in the current study. Risk assessment according to bioaccessible Cd would significantly reduce the exposure risk to Cd from rice consumption.

A novel index evaluating left atrioventricular coupling function in chronic kidney disease with diabetes patients

The left atrioventricular coupling index (LACI) evaluates the coupling function between the left atrial (LA) and left ventricular (LV) chambers. However, little is known about LACI in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. This study aimed to assess the impact of concurrent CKD and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on left atrioventricular coupling function compared to CKD patients without T2DM. A retrospective analysis included 173 CKD 4–5 stage patients who underwent echocardiographic examinations. The study comprised 75 CKD patients with T2DM (CKD + DM) and 98 CKD patients without T2DM (CKD-DM). During the follow-up, major adverse cardiac events (MACE) were tracked until June 30, 2024, or death, with a median duration of 21 (18, 27) months, 20.8% of patients experienced MACE, and 10.4% passed away. This study employed speckle tracking echocardiography to evaluate LA and LV strain, alongside the LACI, analyzing its role in predicting MACE. CKD + DM patients showed a notable rise in LACI compared to CKD-DM patients, hinting at a link between diabetes and impaired left atrioventricular coupling in CKD. Patients with lower LACI had superior clinical outcomes during follow-up (
P
< 0.001). Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses underscored LACI as an independent predictor for heightened MACE risk in CKD 4–5 stage patients. This study highlights a potential association between diabetes and impaired left atrioventricular coupling function in CKD 4-5 stage patients, with LACI independently linked to an increased risk of MACE.

First-Principles Study of AlCrFeMoTi High-Entropy Alloys

The AlCrFeMoTi high-entropy alloy exhibits promising application potential as a corrosion-resistant structural material in advanced nuclear energy systems, particularly in lead–bismuth fast reactors. In this present study, first-principles calculation based on the density functional theory was employed to investigate the phase and electronic structure of AlCrFeMoTi HEA. The Gibbs free energy calculation results and XRD experimental results both indicate that the BCC phase is more stable for AlCrFeMoTi HEA. The atom distribution model was constructed according to the site preference of atoms occupying sublattices. The results indicate that alloying atoms have an obvious site preference. For example, Fe, Mo, and Cr atoms always prefer the 1a sublattice, while Al and Ti atoms tend to favor the 1b sublattice. And the atom site preference is temperature-sensitive. At 973 K, the site occupancy configuration is (Al5Cr16Fe26Mo17Ti0)1a(Al21Cr9Fe0Mo9Ti25)1b. Based on the steady-state phase structure, the band structure, density of states, and charge density were calculated. The electronic structure results show that metal bonds are formed between alloying elements in AlCrFeMoTi HEA, exhibiting strong metallic properties.
