Open-Ocean Shallow-Water Dynamics via a (2+1)-Dimensional Generalized Variable-Coefficient Hirota-Satsuma-Ito System: Oceanic Auto-Bäcklund Transformation and Oceanic Solitons
2025
Recently, during the investigations on planetary oceans, Hirota-Satsuma-Ito-type models have been developed. In this paper, for a (2+1)-dimensional generalized variable-coefficient Hirota-Satsuma-Ito system describing the fluid dynamics of shallow-water waves in an open ocean, non-characteristic movable singular manifold and symbolic computation enable an oceanic auto-Bäcklund transformation with three sets of the oceanic solitonic solutions. The results rely on the oceanic variable coefficients in that system. Future oceanic observations might detect some nonlinear features predicted in this paper, and relevant oceanographic insights might be expected.

Zhu Guangqian and Benedetto Croce on aesthetic thought : with a translation of the Wenyi xinlixue (The psychology of art and literature)
\"In Zhu Guangqian and Benedetto Croce on Aesthetic Thought, Mario Sabattini analyses Croce's influence on the aesthetic thought of Zhu Guangqian. Zhu Guangqian is one of the most representative figures of contemporary Chinese aesthetics. Since the '30s, he had an active role in China both on the literary and philosophical scenes, and, through his writings, he exerted an important influence in the moulding of numerous generations of intellectuals. Some of his works have been widely read, and they still provoke considerable interest in China, on the mainland as well as in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The volume also presents a revised translation of Zhu Guangqian's Wenyi xinlixue (Psychology of Art and Literature)\"-- Provided by publisher.

Resonant interactions between ultra‐low‐frequency (ULF) waves and particles are critical for energy transfer in the Earth's magnetosphere, and have been extensively investigated in the inner magnetosphere. However, resonant processes between ULF waves and electrons in the dayside outer magnetosphere remain largely unexplored. Using MMS data, we investigate their bounce resonance in the dayside outer magnetosphere. Quasi‐periodic oscillations of electron fluxes below 1 keV and ULF waves with periods comparable to the electron bounce periods are observed simultaneously. Test‐particle simulations demonstrate that off‐equatorial magnetic field minima can increase the number of resonant pitch angles for electrons at a given energy. Overlap of stripes corresponding to different resonant energies gives rise to observed 360°^{\\circ}$phase shifts. Furthermore, off‐equatorial minima and temporal evolution of ULF waves broaden the conventional bounce resonance condition ω=Nωb$\\omega =N{\\omega }_{b}$ , which links the harmonic type of ULF waves to the parity of N$N$ .

Particle‐Trapping Injection Flux Tubes in Saturn's Magnetosphere and High‐Band Electron Cyclotron Harmonic Waves Therein
2025
Injection flux tubes, characterized by localized equatorial magnetic field enhancements and concomitant hot plasma populations, contribute to Saturn's magnetospheric convection cycle by transporting magnetic flux radially inward. The sharp magnetic gradients at the flux‐tube edges have been demonstrated to enable the trapping of equatorially mirroring particles, leading to their energy‐dispersionless signatures in spacecraft observations. Here, we present a statistical distinction between flux tubes with and without particle‐trapping features in the electron cyclotron harmonic (ECH) wave properties. The particle‐trapping flux tubes carry stronger ECH waves in the high‐harmonic bands, whereas the other category is usually accompanied only by fundamental‐mode waves. This distinction is largely attributed to the higher content of energetic electrons within the particle‐trapping flux tubes. These results improve our understanding of the association between injection flux tubes and the high‐band ECH waves therein, suggesting a unique role of particle‐trapping flux tubes in Saturnian magnetospheric dynamics. Plain Language Summary In Saturn's magnetosphere, the plasma convection involves the inward motion of localized injection flux tubes characterized by enhanced magnetic field strength and energetic particle fluxes. The flux enhancements of particles at different energies are usually asynchronous because of their energy‐dependent drift speeds around Saturn. In certain events, however, this picture could be modified by sharp magnetic gradients at flux‐tube edges, which lead to the trapping of near‐equatorial particles manifested by their simultaneous flux enhancements over a wide energy range. Here, we analyze the Cassini observations of injection flux tubes, categorize them into those with and without particle‐trapping features, and examine their associated electrostatic wave properties. The particle‐trapping flux tubes are statistically associated with waves at discrete frequencies between harmonics of the electron gyrofrequency, known as electron cyclotron harmonic waves. These emissions occur in both the fundamental‐mode and high‐harmonic bands. In contrast, non‐trapping flux tubes are predominantly accompanied by fundamental‐mode waves only. The different wave properties are attributed to the higher content of energetic electrons in particle‐trapping flux tubes. These findings highlight the role of injection flux tubes in Saturn's magnetospheric dynamics. Key Points Particle‐trapping flux tubes with energy‐dispersionless features of equatorially mirroring particles carry intense electron cyclotron harmonic (ECH) waves in high bands Particle‐trapping flux tubes correspond to stronger magnetic field enhancements and higher content of energetic electrons than other events Parametric analysis demonstrates the important role of energetic electrons above 1 keV in the excitation of ECH waves in high harmonic bands

In an Ocean or a River: Bilinear Auto-Bäcklund Transformations and Similarity Reductions on an Extended Time-Dependent (3+1)-Dimensional Shallow Water Wave Equation
2025
With respect to oceanic fluid dynamics, certain models have appeared, e.g., an extended time-dependent (3+1)-dimensional shallow water wave equation in an ocean or a river, which we investigate in this paper. Using symbolic computation, we find out, on one hand, a set of bilinear auto-Bäcklund transformations, which could connect certain solutions of that equation with other solutions of that equation itself, and on the other hand, a set of similarity reductions, which could go from that equation to a known ordinary differential equation. The results in this paper depend on all the oceanic variable coefficients in that equation.

DHHC9-mediated GLUT1 S-palmitoylation promotes glioblastoma glycolysis and tumorigenesis
2021
Glucose transporter GLUT1 is a transmembrane protein responsible for the uptake of glucose into the cells of many tissues through facilitative diffusion. Plasma membrane (PM) localization is essential for glucose uptake by GLUT1. However, the mechanism underlying GLUT1 PM localization remains enigmatic. We find that GLUT1 is palmitoylated at Cys207, and S-palmitoylation is required for maintaining GLUT1 PM localization. Furthermore, we identify DHHC9 as the palmitoyl transferase responsible for this critical posttranslational modification. Knockout of DHHC9 or mutation of GLUT1 Cys207 to serine abrogates palmitoylation and PM distribution of GLUT1, and impairs glycolysis, cell proliferation, and glioblastoma (GBM) tumorigenesis. In addition, DHHC9 expression positively correlates with GLUT1 PM localization in GBM specimens and indicates a poor prognosis in GBM patients. These findings underscore that DHHC9-mediated GLUT1 S-palmitoylation is critical for glucose supply during GBM tumorigenesis.
The glucose transporter GLUT1 is upregulated in multiple cancers and may contribute to tumour progression, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Here, the authors show that DHHC9-mediated GLUT1 palmitoylation at Cys207 is crucial for plasma membrane localisation of GLUT1 and for tumourigenesis in glioblastoma cells.
