Parallel population and parallel human : a cyber-physical social approach
\"This book is a result of an ambitious research agenda I made for myself almost 30 years ago after reading Karl Popper's The Open Society and its Enemies. To me, the open society should have no enemies, we must find a way to build the bridge between Popper's utopian social engineering and piecemeal social engineering, perhaps through the Cyber-enabled Social Movement Organizations and Operations (CeSMO), and that would be my research for the rest of my professional career. I had promised myself to write a book entitled The Open Society and its Friends, and even created a new name for my ambition, Bemonad, for Becoming and Being Gottfried Leibniz's Monad, which was redefined as the atom of intelligence for Popper's Artificial World in the sense of ancient Greek philosopher Democritus' atom for matters in the Physical World. Of course, I realized very soon that it is simply a dream and a mission impossible. However, this had dramatically changed my career path from intelligent control for robotic systems to a mixture of science, technology, engineering, and social studies for complex intelligent systems, or an interdisciplinary approach by today's term, starting from my technical report at NASA/UA Space Engineering Research Center (SERC) on Shadow Systems in 1994 and ending up with the creation of the Program for Advanced Research in Complex Systems (PARCS) at the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona in 1999.\"-- Provided by publisher.
Coupled spatial periodic waves and solitons in the photovoltaic photorefractive crystals
The evolution of spatial solitons in the photovoltaic photorefractive crystal can be governed by the specific coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations. Under the photovoltaic field with the external bias field, the coupled cn–sn-type periodic wave solution and the corresponding photorefractive bright–dark soliton pair were constructed to describe the evolution of beam. The influence of the external bias field on solitonic dynamics is analyzed. In the photovoltaic crystal, coupled sn–cn-type, sn–dn-type periodic wave solutions, solution constructed by products of elliptic functions and the corresponding dark–bright soliton pair and coupled double-peaked soliton solutions are found to describe the evolution of a spatial-phase-modulated photovoltaic soliton and a non-phase-modulated beam.
Switching, explosion, and chaos of multi-wavelength soliton states in ultrafast fiber lasers
Because of the complexity and difficulty of realizing a multi-wavelength soliton state, reports on its internal dynamic characteristics are scarce. In this study, the switching and periodic soliton explosion processes of the multi-wavelength soliton state in a negative dispersion passively mode-locked fiber laser are realized. The generation of the multi-wavelength soliton state undergoes the process of noise, oscillation, and stable mode-locking, and the splitting and annihilation of solitons with different group velocities directly impact the generation and disappearance of three wavelengths. Positive and negative dispersion lead to different group velocities of solitons. The presence and displacement of solitons with different group velocities cause soliton collisions, which lead to soliton explosions. A soliton experiences relative phase oscillation, chaos, and oscillation, as well as convergence and separation before and after an explosion. With an increase in parameters related to pump power, single-soliton oscillation, multi-wavelength solitons, and chaos are found in experiments and simulations, proving the relevance and reliability between simulation and experimental results. This work promotes the dynamical study of multi-soliton collisions in nonlinear science and the development of chaos theory in multi-comb lasers.
مبادئ الحكم في الصين القديمة
يتناول كتاب (مبادئ الحكم في الصين القديمة) والذي قامه بتأليفه (وي تشينغ) في حوالي (211) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (تاريخ الصين قديم) مستعرضا المحتويات التالية : قبل أكثر من ألف وربعمائة عام، أصدر الإمبراطور تاي تسونغ إمبراطور أسرة تانغ الملكية (618-907) مرسوما بأن يجمع أربعة من أشهر علماء الصين وسياسييها وأمهرهم وقتها المعارف التاريخية حول مبادئ الحكم الإمبراطوري من الكتب الكلاسيكية القديمة الستة، والمجموعات التاريخية الأربع، والمئات من مؤلفات المدارس الفكرية الصينية، وأن يرتبوها ويستخرجوا منها الدروس الاكثر اهمية حول تهذيب النفس وإصلاحها، وإدارة العائلة، والحكم الجيد للبلاد، وسبل جلب السلام للعالم. وكانت النتيجة مجموعة عنوانها \"تشيونشو تشيياو\" التي أقتبست بعناية من أربعة عشر ألف كتاب، وتسع وثمانين ألف مخطوطة من الكتابات القديمة، بإجمالي خمسمائة ألف فقرة مكتوبة، تغطي خمسة وشتين صنفا من الكتب. وقد ساعد هذا الكتاب الإمبراطور تاي سونغ والكثير من الأباطرة من بعده في أمور الحكم، ويعود الفضل في تحقيق الرخاء والسلام في المراحل اللاحقة بالصين القديمة بنسبة كبيرة إلى هذا الكتاب.
Epigallocatechin Gallate Attenuates Gentamicin-Induced Nephrotoxicity by Suppressing Apoptosis and Ferroptosis
Gentamicin (GEN) is a kind of aminoglycoside antibiotic with the adverse effect of nephrotoxicity. Currently, no effective measures against the nephrotoxicity have been approved. In the present study, epigallocatechin gallate (EG), a useful ingredient in green tea, was used to attenuate its nephrotoxicity. EG was shown to largely attenuate the renal damage and the increase of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the decrease of glutathione (GSH) in GEN-injected rats. In NRK-52E cells, GEN increased the cellular ROS in the early treatment phase and ROS remained continuously high from 1.5 H to 24 H. Moreover, EG alleviated the increase of ROS and MDA and the decrease of GSH caused by GEN. Furthermore, EG activated the protein levels of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). After the treatment of GEN, the protein level of cleaved-caspase-3, the flow cytometry analysis and the JC-1 staining, the protein levels of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and SLC7A11, were greatly changed, indicating the occurrence of both apoptosis and ferroptosis, whereas EG can reduce these changes. However, when Nrf2 was knocked down by siRNA, the above protective effects of EG were weakened. In summary, EG attenuated GEN-induced nephrotoxicity by suppressing apoptosis and ferroptosis.
Data-driven femtosecond optical soliton excitations and parameters discovery of the high-order NLSE using the PINN
We use the physics-informed neural network to solve a variety of femtosecond optical soliton solutions of the high-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation, including one-soliton solution, two-soliton solution, rogue wave solution, W-soliton solution and M-soliton solution. The prediction error for one-soliton, W-soliton and M-soliton is smaller. As the prediction distance increases, the prediction error will gradually increase. The unknown physical parameters of the high-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation are studied by using rogue wave solutions as data sets. The neural network is optimized from three aspects including the number of layers of the neural network, the number of neurons, and the sampling points. Compared with previous research, our error is greatly reduced. This is not a replacement for the traditional numerical method, but hopefully to open up new ideas.
New positivity bounds from full crossing symmetry
A bstract Positivity bounds are powerful tools to constrain effective field theories. Utilizing the partial wave expansion in the dispersion relation and the full crossing symmetry of the scattering amplitude, we derive several sets of generically nonlinear positivity bounds for a generic scalar effective field theory: we refer to these as the P Q , D su , D stu and D ¯ stu bounds. While the PQ bounds and D su bounds only make use of the s ↔ u dispersion relation, the D stu and D ¯ stu bounds are obtained by further imposing the s ↔ t crossing symmetry. In contradistinction to the linear positivity for scalars, these inequalities can be applied to put upper and lower bounds on Wilson coefficients, and are much more constraining as shown in the lowest orders. In particular we are able to exclude theories with soft amplitude behaviour such as weakly broken Galileon theories from admitting a standard UV completion. We also apply these bounds to chiral perturbation theory and we find these bounds are stronger than the previous bounds in constraining its Wilson coefficients.
Managements of scalar and vector rogue waves in a partially nonlocal nonlinear medium with linear and harmonic potentials
We consider a ( 2 + 1 )-dimensional nonautonomous-coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which includes the partially nonlocal nonlinearity under linear and harmonic potentials. Via a projecting expression between nonautonomous and autonomous equations, and utilizing the bilinear method and Darboux transformation method, we find diversified exact solutions. These solutions contain the nonlocal rogue wave and Akhmediev or Ma breather solutions, and the combined solution which describes a rogue wave superposed on an Akhmediev or Ma breather. By adjusting values of diffraction, width and phase chirp parameters of wave, the maximum value of the accumulated time can be modulated. When we compare the maximum value of the accumulated time with that of the excitation position parameters, we study the management of scalar and vector rogue waves, such as the excitations of full shape, early shape and climax shape for rogue waves.
