Surface-Alloyed Nanoporous Zinc as Reversible and Stable Anodes for High-Performance Aqueous Zinc-Ion Battery
2022
HighlightsZnxCuy alloy shell was in-situ formed on self-supported three-dimensional nanoporous Zn anode by anionic surfactant-assisted surface alloying of Zn and Cu.The self-supported nanoporous ZnxCuy/Zn anodes exhibit high-rate capability, outstanding reversibility and stability during Zn stripping/plating because of zincophilic ZnxCuy to guide uniform Zn deposition and facilitate Zn stripping.Aqueous Zn-ion batteries assembled with nanoporous ZnxCuy/Zn anode and KzMnO2 cathode achieve specific energy of as high as ~430 Wh kg‒1 and retain ~86% after long-term cycles for >700 h.Metallic zinc (Zn) is one of the most attractive multivalent-metal anode materials in post-lithium batteries because of its high abundance, low cost and high theoretical capacity. However, it usually suffers from large voltage polarization, low Coulombic efficiency and high propensity for dendritic failure during Zn stripping/plating, hindering the practical application in aqueous rechargeable zinc-metal batteries (AR-ZMBs). Here we demonstrate that anionic surfactant-assisted in situ surface alloying of Cu and Zn remarkably improves Zn reversibility of 3D nanoporous Zn electrodes for potential use as high-performance AR-ZMB anode materials. As a result of the zincophilic ZnxCuy alloy shell guiding uniform Zn deposition with a zero nucleation overpotential and facilitating Zn stripping via the ZnxCuy/Zn galvanic couples, the self-supported nanoporous ZnxCuy/Zn electrodes exhibit superior dendrite-free Zn stripping/plating behaviors in ambient aqueous electrolyte, with ultralow polarizations under current densities up to 50 mA cm‒2, exceptional stability for 1900 h and high Zn utilization. This enables AR-ZMB full cells constructed with nanoporous ZnxCuy/Zn anode and KzMnO2 cathode to achieve specific energy of as high as ~ 430 Wh kg‒1 with ~ 99.8% Coulombic efficiency, and retain ~ 86% after long-term cycles for > 700 h.

Explaining basketball game performance with SHAP: insights from Chinese Basketball Association
2025
This study explores the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) influencing the game outcomes of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Utilizing data from 4100 games across 10 CBA seasons (2013–2023), this study constructs CBA game outcome prediction models using seven machine learning algorithms, including XGBoost, LightGBM, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Support Vector Machines, Logistic Regression, and K-Nearest Neighbors. The SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) method is applied to explain the optimal prediction model and analyze the KPIs. The findings are as follows: (1) XGBoost demonstrates excellent performance in predicting CBA game outcomes. (2) eFG%, 3P%, 2P%, ORB%, DRB, and TOV% are key indicators influencing CBA game outcomes. (3) There is a tendency for offensive play over defensive strategies in CBA playoffs. This combined methodology of machine learning and SHAP analysis not only exhibits superior performance but also strong explainability. It effectively reflects the relationship between game outcomes and performance data, providing a scientific basis for enhancing professional basketball performance.

Structure Stability and Mechanical Property of Y2O3 Thin Films Deposited by Reactive Magnetron Sputtering
2017
Y2O3 has a great application potential at reaction barrier coating of high-temperature composites due to its high thermodynamic stability and high melting point, and the phase structure stability at high temperature and structure dependent mechanical property are key parameters for this application. Y2O3 thin films were deposited on silicon (100) wafers by DC magnetron sputtering with various oxygen partial pressure and substrate bias, and then vacuum annealing at 1000°C was performed to investigate the phase structure stability. The microstructure, stress and hardness of as-deposited and annealed Y2O3 thin films were explored by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope, and nanoindenter. The result showed that as-60 bias voltage was applied to substrate, cubic-c phase formed regardless of variation of oxygen partial pressure, and the cubic-c phase remains stability and crystallinity became better after annealing at 1000 °C.In addition, the hardness and modulus also just had minor changes as a function of oxygen partial pressure. As oxygen partial pressure was kept at 0.043 Pa, phase transition from cubic-c to monoclinic-b phase took place with increasing substrate bias, accompanying by the increment of hardness and modulus, and 1000 °Chigh-temperature annealing resulted in that as-deposited monoclinic-b phase transforms to cubic-c phase.

Metabolic Engineering of Escherichia coli for Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) Production under Microaerobic Condition
2015
The alcohol dehydrogenase promoter P adhE and mixed acid fermentation pathway deficient mutants of Escherichia coli were employed to produce poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (P3HB) under microaerobic condition. The E. coli mutant with ackA-pta, poxB, ldhA, and adhE deletions accumulated 0.67 g/L P3HB, up to 78.84% of cell dry weight in tube cultivation. The deletion of pyruvate formate-lyase gene pflB drastically decreased P3HB production and P3HB content to 0.09 g/L and 24.44%, respectively. Overexpressing pflB via the plasmid in its knocked out mutant restored cell growth and P3HB accumulation, indicating the importance of the pyruvate formate-lyase in microaerobic carbon metabolism. The engineered E. coli BWapld (pWYC09) produced 5.00 g/L P3HB from 16.50 g/L glucose in 24 h batch fermentation, and P3HB production yield from glucose was 0.30 g/g, which reached up to 63% of maximal theoretical yield.

Tungsten carbide thin films were deposited on silicon (100) substrates by DC reactive magnetron sputtering using CH4 as a carbon source. The microstructure, compressive stress, hardness and tribological behaviors showed great dependences on the rates of CH4 flow (FCH4). Increasing the FCH4 from 2 to 5 sccm, the film exhibited a phase transition from hexagonal-W2C to cubic-WC1-x. Further increasing the FCH4 larger than 10sccm, the film presented amorphous state. As the FCH4 increased, the Raman revealed that the films showed a graphitization trend, meanwhile, the surface of the films became smoother and smoother. The hardness of tungsten carbide films first increased, and then decreased after reaching the maximum 38.5GPa (FCH4=10 sccm). While the sample deposited at 15 sccm obtained the lowest wear rate (2.17×10-6 mm3/Nm) and low coefficient of friction (CoF, 0.24) and still maintained a high hardness of 32.1 GPa. The lowest wear rate could be ascribed to the highest ratio of H3/E2.

Deposition and Characterization of C-NbN/NbCN Multilayers on Si(100) Substrates
2017
The cubic-NbN/NbCN multilayers with modulation periodicity (Λ) ranging from 4.2 to 39.1 nm were deposited on Si (100) substrate by reactive magnetron sputtering in a mixture of Ar and N2 gases. The Λ dependent structural, mechanical and tribological properties for resulting c-NbN/NbCN multilayers were explored. As Λ varied from 4.2 to 39.1 nm, all the films exhibited an obvious modulated structure. Increasing the Λ, the Nb (C,N)(111) peak in XRD gradually shifted to bigger angles and the peak intensity of NbN(111) became stronger. The stress for all multilayers was compressive ranging in between the stress for both NbN and NbCN single layers, and the stress value was stable with increasing Λ. The NbN layer was beneficial to relaxing the compressive stress which induced by NbCN layer. In addition, as Λ increases, the hardness (H) first increased, and then decreased after reaching a maximum value. The obvious enhancement in hardness for multilayers was observed, whose maximum value approaches 43.3 GPa when Λ = 8.4 nm, 37% larger than that obtained by the rule of mixture value. The friction coefficient values of NbN/NbCN multilayers ranging between 0.34 and 0.4 were much lower than that of NbN monolayer but higher than that of NbCN monolayer were.

Substrate Bias Dependent Microstructure and Properties of TC17 Titanium Alloy Coatings Deposited by Magnetron Sputtering
While matrix coated fiber method is used to fabricate SiC continuous fiber reinforced TC17 (Ti-5Al-2Sn-2Zr-4Mo-4Cr) matrix composites (SiCf/TC17), the properties of SiCf/TC17 composite are strongly affected by the microstructure and properties of TC17 alloy coatings in precursor wires. In this work, Vb(substrate bias) was adopted to tailor the microstructure and properties of TC17 coatings, and Vb dependent on microstructure, morphology, composition, stress, hardness and adhesion for TC17 coatings have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscope, auger electron spectrometer, surface profiler and nanoindenter. The experimental results showed that all coatings crystallized with hexagonal structure (α-Ti). The migratory ability of incoming ions increased with increasing Vb from floating to-120V, and the smoothing growth surface and re-sputtering came into prominence with further increasing Vb, then the surface roughened again and accompanied by a transition of growth mode from column grains to compact-grain structures. As Vb increased, Al content increased while Ti content decreases. In addition, compressive stress and hardness showed a rising trend caused by ions implantation. Interface ions implantation and stress state acted together on the adhesive force between TC17 alloy coatings and SiC fiber.
