Assessment of Blood lead level of Glue and Gasoline sniffing Boys at Tayba Camp for Adolescents Boys. Khartoum State - Sudan
This study was conducted at Tayba center for homeless adolescents Boys, Khartoum - Sudan, to investigate the blood lead concentration and hemoglobin level of gasoline and glue sniffers. The age of the studied group was 7-18 years and the control group were at the same age. There were 14 of glue sniffers and 8 gasoline sniffers. Results of the study indicated that the blood lead concentration of the sniffers (36. 4 (µ/dl) is highly significant (P<0. 01), compared to that of the control group (9. 8 µ /dl). Lead correlation is negatively correlated with Hb (r=-0. 813) and positively correlated with age (r=+0. 465). The study concluded that almost all of the sniffers reached the toxic level of lead and this may be reflected with the symptoms and signs reported for them. Solving of the problems (social problems, war, poverty etc) as soon as possible will the best solution for the street children phenomenon and the consequences resulting from it.
