أزمة العلاقات الباكستانية الأمريكية والحرب بالوكالة
US-Pakistani relations are witnessing unprecedented consequent problems due to accumulated political disputes. Some of these are repeated American raids on Pakistani targets as well as difference of opinions on dealing with Afghanistan, Taliban and other Pakistani armed groups. The alliance between the two countries is a deceptive one because of conflicting interests. Although Pakistani governments are close to Washington and sometimes come to power after American support, the military institution - which is the most significant player - is not happy with US policies in South Asia. Such discords are not recent. In spite of Washington's need for Islamabad's geopolitical position during the Cold War, the relations were subject to various tensions associated with different interests, mainly those of the US. Therefore, mistrust grows between the Pakistani military leadership and Washington, especially when the latter has no momentary interests in Pakistan.
