Livestock Production in the Central Maghreb during the Intermediate Era between Contributing to Internal Economic Mobility and External Trade Exchange
Livestock of all sorts in the field of the Islamic Maghreb in general and the central Maghreb in particular, formed an important and an effective manifestation in the economic activity of that field, through the intersections of the agricultural and industrial contribution in its various forms as it is a basic and a vital source of raw materials for different industries and crafts and an engine for the manufacturing and agricultural industry, and one of the main components of trade exchanges with the various countries of the Mediterranean Basin or sub-Saharan Africa.
Predicting Livestock Trends
This study aims to forecast livestock using the Box-Jenkins methodology, specifically applying it to a time series of annual livestock numbers in Algeria from 1990 to 2021. It concluded with the estimation of a forecasting model based on the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) approach, specifically ARIMA(0,1,1), which demonstrated good accuracy with a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 10.40%. The forecast indicates an increase in livestock numbers during the period from 2022 to 2025.
Evaluation management broiler production projects at Baghdad Province using management criteria
This research aims were to evaluate management of broiler production projects in Baghdad province via using the criteria of management, included production index and economic figure (PI and EF) that specified to those projects. in addition to criteria of economic efficiency also applied (INME) index number of management efficiency, in order to the research requirements, data were obtained based on a questionnaire prepared for this purpose, which was collected by personal interview of (60) projects of the broiler production projects from (516) projects representing 11.6% of the research community in Baghdad province in 2016. The results show that mean of PI and EF was (338). The increase in these two criteria is generally due to control of management procedures, while 48% of the sample projects according to the INME index gave values higher than 100. This reflects the effect of the high level of management efficiency on FCR and consequently on the level of production of meat broiler. The results were also shown in accordance with the economic and financial criteria used in the evaluation of meat broiler projects. All the categories of projects achieved positive returns. The research concluded that the sample projects are economically merit, with the benefit cost ratio (1.5). Also the broiler projects rely little on the permanent work represented by the number of administrators. This is confirmed by the low percentage of fixed costs, The research recommends to adoption of modern administrative, production and technical methods to manage the production of broiler projects and to encourage investment in such of these projects because of their economic efficiency and featured in the short cycle of capital.
Spatial Variation in the Change in Livestock Wealth in Shaqlawa District 2010 & 2020
Animal production is one of the most important sectors of agricultural production and contributes to the construction of the national economy in general and the agricultural economy in particular. The importance of animal husbandry lies in its material value of capital and annual income, in addition to being the main source of protein supply. A large number of the population depends on it for employment opportunities, encompassing various aspects such as red meat, poultry, milk, and eggs. The Shaqlawa district, as a research area, is rich in animal wealth. There is significant variation in this wealth from one place to another and from year to year, primarily due to changes in land use for animal production. It is important to note that there is a significant difference in the natural and human capacities of this economic resource in the region. The main objective of this study is to show the spatial variation in the change in the proportion of animal resources in Shaqlawa district between 2010 and 2020. This study uses several methods to achieve its goals, including a descriptive method for analyzing data and information and a regional method for diagnosing the research region. The research has reached many conclusions, most importantly the positive change in agricultural land use in the field of animal wealth. For example, the rate of change in the number of animals in the district was more than 54%, the change in the number of farms was more than 43%, and the production of Poultry projects exceeded 815.2%.
Effect of Adding Different Levels of Oregano Leaves Extract \Origanum Vulgare\ in Drinking Water on the Quality Characteristics of the Carcass of Broiler Chickens
The field Animal Production Department (College of Agriculture / Al-Qasim Green University) was chosen to conduct the project from 18/9/2019 to 23/10/2019. In it 240 chicks of Ross 308 were used. The chicks were randomly divided into four experimental trials. The leaves extracted suspension was added at 0, 3, 5 and 7 ml/liter to drinking water, and the following characteristics were studied: live body weight before slaughter and the weight of the carcass , dressing rate, the relative weights of the main and secondary carcass parts, and the relative weights of the eating giblets. The results showed that the fourth treatment was significantly better in pre-slaughter live body weight, carcass weight, and dressing percentage, compared to the other treatments.
A Statistical Model to Forecast the Volume of Production of some Livestock Products In Light of Climate Change in Egypt
Climate change, caused by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, has a substantial influence on livestock production systems across the world, including Egypt. Using historical data on GHG emissions and climate-related factors, this study creates a statistical model to forecast the production volume of important livestock kinds in Egypt, such as cattle, sheep, and poultry. The study's goal is to better understand how changing environmental circumstances affect productivity by examining the link between livestock output and emission patterns. Using time series analysis and regression approaches, the model assesses the effect of historical GHG emissions on livestock production. The findings show significant relationship between emission levels, and livestock productivity. For long-term forecasting, other statistical models were used, including the univariate autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and a hybrid model that combines the ARIMA model with the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (GARCH) model. Moreover, along with using univariate ARIMA model, a dynamic regression model that combined multiple regression analysis and the ARIMA model. The forecasting performance of all estimated models was assessed using several forecasting accuracy measures that included both in-sample and out-of-sample forecasts. The findings revealed that for the long-term forecasting model, the hybrid ARIMA-GARCH model, and the dynamic regression model are better than the univariate ARIMA model in terms of prediction accuracy. The study's findings provide useful insights for policymakers and stakeholders, allowing them to implement strategies to mitigate the negative effects of climate change on the livestock sector. By addressing the challenges posed by GHG emissions, this research helps Egypt achieve sustainable livestock management and long-term food security.
Effect of season and sex on some productive traits of Pekin duck Reard Intesively under Iraqi conditions
This study was conducted at Poultry farm/Department of Animal Production/College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences/University of Baghdad, were divided into two experiments one during summer and second during winter seasons to study the effect of season and sex on productive performance of Pekin duck reared in an intensive system under harsh Iraqi conditions. A hundred fifty, one day old ducklings were used in each experiment. On 14 day of age, birds were sexed then randomly divided into nine replicates (pens) (5 replicates for females and 4 for males). Results indicated that season has significant effects on studied traits. Body weight, weight gain and food consumption were significantly ( p < 0.01 )higher in birds reared in winter than those reared in summer, whereas no significant differences existed in feed conversion ratio and mortality. Males revealed highly significant ( p< 0.01 ) in body weight and weight gain compared with females in both seasons. Study revealed that pekin duck performance were slightly effected and resisted to acute high temperature during summer. Pursuant to, it can be reared pekin duck in intensive system throughout year in Iraq.
