The aim of this study is to investigate intralingual errors among Saudi second language (EFL) learners at intermediate and advanced proficiency levels. Sixty female Saudi undergraduate students in their first academic year of studying English at a Saudi Arabian university participated in this research. An error analysis was conducted to examine the students' writing errors. Participants were given weekly writing assignments as part of their assessment plans, and the following errors were categorised and analysed: simplification, overgeneralisation, hypercorrection, fossilisation, avoidance, and false hypothesis errors. The findings revealed that false hypothesis errors were the most frequent errors in both groups, but fossilisation errors were the least frequent. Intermediate learners made more simplification and overgeneralisation errors in their writing than false hypothesis errors at the advanced level. This research sheds light on the linguistic challenges faced by Saudi L2 learners and makes suggestions for enhancing language learning and teaching methodologies. Overall, the study identifies the different patterns of writing errors which provides valuable insights for educators in developing targeted interventions and effective language instruction for EFL writing. In conclusion, this study highlights the common use of false hypothesis errors among Saudi EFL learners at intermediate and advanced proficiency levels, revealing distinct patterns of intralingual errors in writing, and advocates for tailored pedagogical strategies to address these challenges and enhance language learning outcomes.

يهدف البحث إلى مساءلة آلية مصطلحية واسعة الاعتماد من قبل المصطلحيين في حقول المعرفة، وهي \"آلية التعريب\"، من خلال السعي إلى كشف حدودها، وجدواها، فضلا عن أسباب إقرارها، واعتمادها مقابلا ترجميا للمصطلحات الغربية، مع مطارحة ومناقشة أسباب غلبة التعريب مقارنة بغيره من آليات التوضيع، والتوليد المصطلحي، وتبيان مدى قدرة العربية على صياغة مصطلحات أصيلة تستوعب المفاهيم النقدية الوافدة إلى منظومتنا العربية، أما عن موضوع البحث: فيتناول الجدلية القائمة في الأوساط الأكاديمية بشأن حدود الترجمة المصطلحية، كما يناقش البحث مسألة التداخل اللغوي والحضاري الذي أنتج ظاهرة الاقتراض، فضلا عن تقديم مداخل مفاهيمية ومصطلحية تستبين مكونات المصطلح في صلته بالمفهوم الذي يستوعبه، وهي (المصطلح التصور الميدان، والتعريف)، مستفيدا من تنظيرات باحثين عرب وغربيين في علم المصطلح. وتوصل البحث إلى الآتي: يؤكد البحث أن التعريب رغم ضروراته في بعض الحقول المعرفية - يظل آلية اضطرارية موقوتة، وليست خيارا أصيلا لخلق المصطلحات، ومع ذلك تكتسب المصطلحات المعربة حصانة، بحكم أن المصطلح يثبت ويرسخ بناء على سعة تواتره وتبنيه من قبل المصطلحيين والمشتغلين عليه، جريا على القول المأثور: (رب خطأ شاع، ورب صواب ضاع).

يدرس هذا البحث أثر الصراع اللغوي الذي مرت به اللغة العربية خلال مرحلتين تاريخيتين؛ أولاهما: فترة احتكاكها بأهل الحضارات المجاورة للجزيرة العربية، ومن أشهرها الفارسية، والرومية، واليونانية، خلال فترة صدر الإسلام، حتى نهاية الدولة العباسية. وثانيتهما: احتكاكها بلغات حكام الأقطار العربية من غير العرب، ابتداء من العثمانيين الأتراك، والإنجليز، والفرنسيين. ويعنى هذا البحث بالكشف عن النهج الذي ينتهجه اللسان العربي تلقائيا، بشكل ديناميكي، في صراعه مع اللغات البشرية التي تحتك به؛ ذلك النهج الذي يثمر دوما الإبقاء على الأصل العربي الفصيح، ويضمن عدم زواله. وقد تكون البحث من مقدمة، ومبحثين، هما: المبحث الأول: الصراع اللغوي خلال فترة صدر الإسلام والفتوحات الإسلامية. المبحث الثاني: الصراع اللغوي خلال فترات حكم غير العرب للأقطار العربية. وتبع المبحثين خاتمة، تتضمن أهم نتائج البحث، ثم ثبت للمصادر والمراجع.

The study investigates the issue of the reciprocal impact between Arabic and English. It demonstrates the reasons that make English stop being inspired by Arabic. It also sheds light on the effect of Englishization on culture-specific words in the Egyptian society. The study illustrates the effect of westernization and globalization on the Arabic language. It raises some questions: Will the continuous injection of English words into the Egyptian spoken language affect the Arabic language and people's cultural identity? There is another question which is if English dominates the Arabic language in its homeland, will it be spoken by the west that cherishes its language? The study sample consists of 15 recorded hours of various talk shows that discuss different topics like fashion, health, beauty, cooking, medicine, economics, business, horoscope...etc. Analysis of the data is based on Carol Myers-Scotton theories: Markedness Model and Matrix Language Frame Model (1993a, 1993b). It has been noticed that English is commonly used because it is stylish and trendy. It has been suggested that there is a relationship between the topic being discussed and the frequency of English being used.

This study aimed to present an empirical investigation into the types, frequency, and linguistic characteristics of errors occurring in the translation of English idiomatic expressions into Arabic by EFL learners. A quantitative descriptive methodology was employed, with data collected from a random sample of 80 undergraduate English majors at the Faculty of Education, University of Hodeidah, Yemen, via a multiplechoice assessment questionnaire. The analysis revealed a high error incidence of 67.8%, predominantly characterized by inappropriate literal rather than idiomatic translation. These findings indicate significant deficits in learners' idiomatic competence, attributed to insufficient lexical knowledge, limited exposure to authentic language use, and a failure to process meaning in context. The study concludes by advocating for pedagogical interventions that incorporate authentic materials, visual aids, contextualized instruction, and communicative exercises to enhance the acquisition and accurate application of idiomatic language.

В данной статье наше внимание обращено на современные заимствования, пришедшие в русский язык, а также их ключевые характеристики. Заимствованные понятия из США и Великобритании (американизмы, англицизмы) сегодня наиболее часто приходят во все сферы жизнедеятельности русскоговорящего человека.В статье называется источникиии их заимствования, исконным русским словам дается словообразовательная характеристика. В статье делается вывод о преобладании среди новых названий профессий заимствований из разных языков мира.

This study is a small-scaled experiment performed to monitor a common output English linguistic tendency of Arabic native trainee-interpreters when interpreting from their Language A, Arabic. Relying on cognitive theorizing and interrelations between SI models, the study seeks to monitor the frequency of primed prepositional of-genitives and escort errors, omissions, additions, un/filled pauses by means of a quan-qual analysis of the output sample transcripts and suggest training on the centripetal stimulation of the of-genitive alternative forms as a language enhancement required for A/E SI training. An experiment comprising nine subjects is performed, and output audios are manually transcribed, and scrutinized for the escort of-genitive manifestation of low availability. Major findings show a ratio of 5.2: 1: 0.26 between the occurrences of, respectively, of-genitive, compound noun and -'s genitive. Evidence on priming the of-genitive construction against a monitored lower frequency of the two alternative forms is provided. Of-genitive LC's show higher rates of escort manifestations of low availability; 208 hits (64.79%) of the total 321output genitive occurrences are monitored with escort EOI's. Qualitative analysis of prepositional genitive hits shows linguistic interference caused by low language separation skills. 36.76% (118 hits) of the total output genitives correspond to Arabic mudaaf constructions.

Notre recherche intitulée \" L'influence langagière de l'arabe sur le français contemporain\" vise à élucider le grand rôle que la langue arabe a joué dans la formation des nouveaux mots français en mettant l'accent sur l'influence langagière de l'arabe sur la langue française actuelle. Notre corpus écrit est issu de dictionnaires français et d'une enquête concernant l'usage oral des Français contemporains, sur deux aspects mor-phosyntaxiques spécifiques de l'intégration des emprunts lexicaux d'origine arabe. En ce qui concerne la méthode suivie dans l'analyse de l'intégration de ces mots arabes, nous traitons deux aspects principaux de l'analyse des emprunts: l'un est phonologique; et l'autre est morphologique. Dans la présente étude linguistique, nous essayons de rendre compte de la manière de prononcer les mots français d'origine arabe dont la langue première est différente de la langue source des néologismes employés. Nous citons le nombre des mots arabes qui ont conquis le français dans les différents domaines: les sciences, les mathématiques, la flore, les mœurs, l'astronomie, etc. Nous mettons en lumière sur la prononciation et la signification des mots français d'origine arabe. Concernant les emprunts, nous expliquons également tous les types d'emprunts avec quelques exemples. D'ailleurs, notre étude indique la grande place de l'arabe dans la langue française. Nous présentons une liste de mots d'origine arabe, employés couramment en français contemporain. Chaque mot emprunté à l'arabe est présenté avec sa transcription phonétique en précisant sa nature et sa signification en français. Enfin, nous traitons les problèmes de l'intégration des emprunts arabes en mettant l'accent sur les types de l'emprunt lexical et l'importance de l'emprunt linguistique.

تسعى هذه الدراسة لتقديم قراءة نافذة للكشف عن جوهر ومظاهر تأثير اللغة العربية في المكون الثقافي الإيراني، باستبصار خلفياتها ودوافعها وعواملها، وتحديد وتحليل الاستراتيجية التي تركز على وصف طبيعة التأثير بناء على النماذج الواردة. اتبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، واستعانت بالمنهج التاريخي للتعرف على حالة الدراسة، ووضعها في إطارها الصحيح، وتفسير الظروف المحيطة بها. ووفقا لذلك خلصت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج، أهمها: أنه إذا كان تأثير اللغة الفارسية (الأم) في اللغة العربية (الثانية) غالبا ما يوصف بأنه سلبي بالنظر إلى احتمال الأخطاء النحوية والمعجمية؛ فإن تأثير اللغة العربية في المكون الثقافي الإيراني يغلب أن يكون إيجابيا؛ نظرا إلى أن العربية تحسن الأساس المعرفي وتؤثر في ذلك المكون الذي تهيمن عليه اللغة الأم. كما أن تأثير اللغة العربية في المكون الثقافي الإيراني ينطلق من المكون السوسيولساني، وأثر الأدب العربي، وتأثير الأيديولوجيا بما يختلف ظاهرا عن تأثير المكون الثقافي الإيراني في اللغة العربية إذ أن تأثيرها أوضح في الجانبين: الإدراكي والتداولي منه في الجانبين: التركيبي والمعجمي. وأظهرت الدراسة أن تأثير اللغة العربية في نمو المكون الثقافي الإيراني هو احتمال قائم على أن أنواع دراسة اللغة العربية تؤدي إلى تحقق الكفاية المتعددة؛ لأنها تحدث تغييرات في نظام ثنائي المعرفة إذا كانت عملية اكتساب عناصرها مكثفة وثرية المحتوى، ومتصلة بدوافعها.

This study focuses on examining the lexical choices employed by Bishop and their role in making her poems more cohesive and comprehensive. By analyzing these choices, the researcher aims to determine their importance in shaping the cohesiveness of the poetic text. The study applies the framework of systemic functional linguistics to analyze Bishop's lexical choices and their impact on the overall cohesion of her poems. By exploring the relationship between lexical choices and the text's cohesiveness, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of Bishop's poetic style and its effects on readers interpretation.
