Young Egyptians' Uses and Gratifications of Mobile News
This study investigates the uses and gratifications of mobile news among Egyptian youth, drawing on the Uses and Gratifications Theory as a framework. The research highlights that smartphones have become the most widespread source of news for young people, surpassing traditional media such as television and newspapers. Employing a descriptive analytical method, the study surveyed a random sample of 300 students from Minia University. Findings reveal that 93% of respondents follow news via smartphones, spending an average of 26 minutes per day. Social media applications, particularly Facebook and Twitter, were identified as the primary sources for 71% of participants, compared to lower usage rates for newspaper and TV news apps. The results point to key motivations for mobile news consumption, including ease of access anytime and anywhere (54.4%), flexibility in tracking news (51.2%), and the ability to customize content according to personal interests. Mobile news also serves as a tool for social interaction, enabling users to share and discuss information with peers. A four-dimensional gratification scale was applied, encompassing interactivity, surveillance, social utility, and escape. All dimensions scored highly, with interactivity achieving the highest mean (4.26), reflecting the youth's desire for control and personalization of their news experience. Moreover, mobile news consumption was found to foster a sense of belonging and provide conversation topics for young people. The study concludes that mobile news consumption has become integral to the daily lives of Egyptian youth, with social media apps emerging as the dominant source of news. This trend reflects a significant shift in media consumption habits and poses challenges for traditional media outlets to adapt to the digital news environment. Qassim University EFL Teachers Viewpoint towards Using Artificial Intelligence Applications in Teaching English
The current research aims to reveal perceptions of faculty members at Qassim University towards the use of artificial intelligence applications in the acquisition of students ' English language skills and whether there are statistically significant differences between their responses in the degree of practicing artificial intelligence applications in the English language subject due to gender, the scientific rank, and English language skills. The sample consists of 97 faculty members (i.e., 65 males and 41 females), and all of them teach English language at Qassim University. They were selected using a simple random sampling method. The research concluded that the level of faculty members ' use of artificial intelligence applications in the English language at Qassim University is very low. Besides, there are no statistically significant differences in the degree of faculty members practicing the English language for artificial intelligence applications at Qassim University based on their gender (male - female) and scientific rank (i.e., teaching assistant, lecturer, and assistant professor). Finally, the findings showed that artificial intelligence applications are more suitable for teaching reading, listening, and speaking skills than writing skills in light of the perceptions of English language faculty members.
تطوير الأداء الإداري لقيادات التعليم الثانوي بدولة الكويت في ضوء مدخل التميز التنظيمي
هدف البحث الحالي إلى التعرف على الأطر النظرية المتعلقة بالأداء الإداري، والتعرف على الأسس النظرية لمدخل التميز التنظيمي وآليات تطبيق التميز التنظيمي وكيفية تحويل ذلك إلى واقع عملي ملموس، وذلك من خلال توضيح دور التميز التنظيمي للقيادات التربوية حيث تأتي أهمية دور القيادات التربوية في المدارس باعتبارهم المسئولين عن مواجهة المشكلات المدرسية وتطوير كافة عناصر العلمية التعليمية من خلال أدائه المتميز، ولما كانت الإدارة المدرسية إدارة ممارسة أو إدارة تنفيذية إجرائية باعتبارها مسئولة عن تنفيذ المسئوليات والمهام والخطط التي تحقق أهداف المدرسة، فان تطوير هذه الإدارة في ضوء التميز التنظيمي يستلزم تطوير الممارسات القيادية التي يقوم بها مدير المدرسة بمساعدة مجموعة العاملين في المجتمع المدرسي، ونجاح الإدارة المدرسية يرتبط بمدى قدرته على تحقيق الاتصال والتواصل الفعال مع كافة العاملين بالمدرسة، ومراعاة احتياجات هؤلاء العاملين ومطالبهم في أطار من العلاقات الإنسانية. وفي سبيل تحقيق هذا الهدف استخدم الباحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لمناسبته لموضوع البحث، كما توصلت نتائج الدراسة إلى أن من أهم آليات تفعيل مدخل التميز التنظيمي بمدارس التعليم الثانوي بدولة الكويت تتمثل في تميز الهيكل التنظيمي، وتميز الاستراتيجية، وتميز تقديم الخدمة، وتميز القيادة، وتميز الثقافة التنظيمية.
