لهذا الكتاب عن الحركات الاجتماعية والديمقراطية أهمية خاصة بين الأدبيات الفكرية الأفريقية. فهو من الكتب القليلة في مجاله، بل في مجالات أخرى عديدة على المستوى الأفريقي الذي يجمع دراسات معمقة عن المجتمعات الأفريقية والعربية بصفتها أفريقية؛ شاملة هذا العدد الكبير من الدراسات عن دول شمال القارة العربية إلى جانب عدد متساو تقريبا من نفس الدراسات في بلدان ما يسمى بجنوب الصحراء.

Nommo
This article examines the concept of Nommo, which has African roots, within the film Child of Resistance, by filmmaker Haile Gerima of African descent in 1972, emphasising its significance for the self-naming and self-definition of Africana women. It explains the rationale behind analysing Gerima's work from an African womanist perspective by investigating the insights that male filmmakers provide on African women's cinematic representation. By examining particular monologues, scenes, and narrative elements, this article underscores how Nommo connects with the film's representation of African-descent women's self-naming and self-definition. It illustrates the empowerment and resistance within the character's narrative and aims to enhance the conversation about the complexities surrounding gender and the representation of Africana women in cinema.

فهم اللاعنف : ملامح وسياقات
كيف نفهم، ونعرف، وندرس اللاعنف ؟ ما أصوله الفلسفية والتاريخية ؟ ما الأساليب والإستراتيجيات المستخدمة في حركات اللاعنف، وكيف تعمل بطريقة مختلفة في بيئات متنوعة ؟ ما القيود المفروضة على مناهج اللاعنف ؟ كيف هي ديناميكيات تحول حملات اللاعنف ؟ لقد صمم كتاب (فهم اللاعنف : ملامح وسياقات) ليكون نصا محوريا لتوفير مراجعة دقيقة في حقل دراسات اللاعنف، مسترشدا بخبرة علماء رئيسين في هذه القضايا. ويسعى هذا الكتاب من خلال تقديمه مراجعة لتاريخ اللاعنف ومفاهيمه الرئيسة، وإبرازه التحديات الرئيسة التي يواجهها الدارسون والممارسون، إلى إشراك الطلاب في المناقشات المهمة المحيطة بدراسة حملات اللاعنف وتنفيذها.

Institutions and Mobilization
This paper highlights how institutions often shape the paths available for political involvement. Many formal, lawful, and effective institutional avenues for people to express their aspirations are associated with significant extra-institutional action; this is one of the most significant conclusions drawn from the mobilization literature. With institutions serving as the independent variable, most scholarly studies have concentrated on how institutions affect mobilization. There is also a smaller body of study that examines the effects of mobilization on formal institutions, particularly about party politics, voting processes, and legal frameworks. Additionally, a large number of academics have examined institutions inside movements as well as movements within institutions as worthwhile areas of study. This paper identifies fourteen consensus propositions about the connections between institutions and mobilization. Although these fourteen conclusions are frequently taken for granted, further empirical testing is necessary to assess their robustness over a larger number of situations and historical periods. For this reason, they are given as testable hypotheses. The next section outlines three main obstacles to determining more widespread causal patterns: (1) a conceptual ambiguity in defining pertinent \"institutions\" as study subjects; (2) a dearth of worldwide data on protest and mobilization that could produce empirical findings that are broadly applicable; and (3) a historical propensity to extrapolate conclusions from a limited number of Western cases. To improve our collective grasp of the links between these notions, a few substantive and methodological approaches are suggested in the paper's conclusion.

هل يمكن إنقاذ الديمقراطية ؟ : المشاركة، والتداول والحركات الاجتماعية : خيارات البحث عن حلول
لقد كان هذا الكتاب محاولة للإجابة عن امكانية تقديم حلول وصيغ جديدة تمكن من قراءة الديمقراطية من جديد، باحداث تغييرات في مفاهيمها وممارساتها، والنظر بالتحديات والفرص المتعلقة بها وإشكالية المفهوم الليبرالي، لانقاذها من التشويه المبرمج لها واعتمادها كقاعدة لممارسة التسلط والطغيان، وذلك من خلال تسليط الضوء على نماذج الديمقراطيات من ناحية المديات والتطورات والتحديات التي تواجهها، كالليبرالية والتداولية والتشاركية، وضرورات تطبيقها في الوقت الراهن، وما قدمته الديمقراطية الإلكترونية من فتوحات ديمقراطية واسهام في تعزيز نوعية الحياة، وبروز الحركات الاجتماعية والاحتجاجات والضبط الأمني لها ومطالباتها بالتغيير الديمقراطي وفق الأصول الجديدة، مع الاشارة الى نماذج تطبيقية للتداول الديمقراطي داخل المؤسسات، وصولا الى محاولات لايجاد صيغ أساسية ممكن أن تنقذ الديمقراطية في الوقت الحالي، بتغيير أسس التعامل معها وابتكار مفاهيما وأساليبا وصورا جديدة تتناسب ووضعها الجديد، وما يمكن أن تنتفع به المجتمعات العربية من استيراد تلك التجارب المؤسسية في الديمقراطية التداولية والتشاركية والتمثيلية، وفق ما يتوافق والخصوصيات والسمات الثقافية التي تترسخ في دواخل تلك المجتمعات. لم يكن التفكير في ترجمة هذا الكتاب، هو مجرد الرغبة في ترجمة موضوع ما، بقدر ما كانت هناك حاجة ماسة لمعرفة مراحل تدهور الديمقراطية ومديات استغلالها وتهميشها، الى الحد الذي باتت به بحاجة الى انقاذ، والابتعاد عن اختزالها وفق أنواعا ومفاهيما وممارسات لا تمت لها بصلة، وتكون غطاء لاستحواذ واسع النطاق.

A Review of the Beginnings of \Metamodernism\ in Relation to other Movements
Postmodernism is giving way to its last breath and critical theory has several alternatives to delve into. One of the interesting theories that has a promising future to take the critical scene is metamodernism. The study aimed to give a brief introduction about metamodernism in terms of beginnings and its relation to other movements of the same period. Since metamodernism is not the only critical theory that examines cultural attitudes, we are supposed to ask whether it is distinct from other theories or whether it is comprehensive and accurately captures the spirit of the era. These two become the main questions of this paper. The study found that metamodernism is more relevant to the cultural scene than other movements such as hypermodernism and altermodernism. On a brief note, it also has been found that metamodernism is a synthesis of modernism and postmodernism. This implies that there is a higher probability of it persisting as a crucial representation of critical theory in the times to come. The study recommends a deeper study into metamodernism's characteristics and the cultural impact on literature.
