A comparative study on the effect of romantic comedies on female and males young adults
2012
Romantic comedies have now become one of the top rated genres in Hollywood and most watched movies around the globe. Movies such as these are now an attraction to mostly female viewers who technically adore the cliché of \"Happily ever after\". Here and there, women are heard complaining about the men around them, fantasizing about that perfect love that in all reality, they might never really get In order to dig deeper into the topic, a survey was made for young men and women ages 18-28 to see if romantic movies do give them unrealistic expectations for their love and sex life. The researcher wants to examine not only the romantic expectations in their relationships, but the sexual expectations and whether the reality of intimate sex was in fact what was seen in movie love scenes. We want to ask both men and women, what are they expecting from the relationship? And whether or not their sexual satisfaction was emotionally fulfilled. Among knowing this, we will find out the difference between how both genders think, and if one is more affected than the other. With our results we might discover whether the flaw is in fact in the opposite gender around them, or if young people have just set the bar so high that not even the small tokens they receive are good enough? To begin with, 100% of the women do watch romantic comedies, while only 52% of men do, revealing which gender would be more affected by the movies before even asking or analyzing the other questions. Women are stereotypically more emotional than men, but the second hypothesis was also correct. The results show that females are more concerned about the romance and emotional satisfaction than the physical and the sexual or at least express it more than males do

Gender similarities in work experiences satisfactions and well-being among managers in Egypt
2009
Purpose -This research investigates gender similarities and differences among managers and professionals working in a variety of organizations and industries in Egypt. It replicates and extends previous work by employing a different sample working in a large Muslim country. Design/methodology/approach - Data were collected from 242 respondents, 146 males and 96 females, using anonymously completed questionnaires, a 48% response rate. Measures included personal demographic and work situation characteristics, stable individual difference personality factors, job behaviors, work outcomes, after-work recovery experiences, indicators of quality of life (e. g., work-family conflict, life satisfaction) and psychological well-being. Findings - There were considerable differences in personal demographic and work situation characteristics, consistent with previous findings. Females were younger, less likely to be married, worked at lower organizational levels, were less likely to supervise others, worked in smaller organizations, and earned less income. Males and females were generally similar on stable individual difference personality factors and job behaviors. Females however were less satisfied with their careers, less work engaged, and reported higher levels of both exhaustion and psychosomatic symptoms; findings different from those observed in other countries Female managers did make greater use of the four recovery experiences examined. Research limitations/implications - Consistent with previous research, considerable demographic and work situation differences were observed. But different from previous research, female and male managers in Egypt reported some similar and some different work and well-being outcomes. The observed differences indicated that women managers are somewhat disadvantaged on both work and well-being. Practical implications - These results suggest that Egyptian organizations need to devote more resources to supporting the career development of managerial and professional women. In addition, Egyptian society needs to challenge the existing stereotypes of women's roles. Originality/value -This study provides information on similarities and differences on personal demographic characteristics and outcome measures among female and male managers in Egypt..
