The Effect of Enteromorpha Intestinalis and Corallina Elongata on Physiological Parameters of Zea Mays L

Purpose: Algae are living organisms capable of photosynthesis and live mainly in an aquatic environment (marine or freshwater), and considered as plants like those growing on the soil. It can therefore be used to enrich the soil in organic matter, and mineral elements, as for composting green waste, for example. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of marine macroalgae Enteromorpha intestinalis (Ulvophycae) and Corallina elongata (Corallinacae) as biofertilizers on the growth of Zea mays L. Method: After rinsing, the algae were ground into a fine powder. The powder obtained from each seaweed was divided into two batches. For the first batch, the seaweed powder (AP), was used directly in the pots one week before planting. Two concentrations, 5% and 10%, were studied. The second batch was used to prepare liquid algal fertilizer (ALF). To determine the mineral composition of each seaweed, X-ray fluorescence analysis was performed. the biofertilizing potential of Enteromorpha intestinalis and Corallina elongata was studied on corn plants, evaluating the effect of these two algae at different growth stages (15, 25, 45 and 60 days) and the chlorophyll a and b content. Results: The elemental analysis of the two algae by X-ray Fluorescence shows that the main elements are water, chlorine, potassium, calcium, silicon, natrium, magnesium, iron and sulfur. The results show that E.intestinalis is richer in minerals compared to C.elongata, except for Strontium and calcium, where C.elongata is more rich. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the macroalgae Enteromorpha intestinalis and Corallina elongata from the Atlantic coast of Morocco are valuable biofertilizers. On the other hand, the application of seaweed extract is more effective than the application of seaweed powder, and Enteromorpha intestinalis can affect the growth parameters at a low concentration (5%), unlike Corallina elongata. The different positive roles of algae in agriculture should be clarified, as our results showed that they can be used as an excellent fertilizer.

Dietary Importance of Spirulina and its Efficacy against Sodium Arsenite Toxicity in Rats

This research examined the value of spirulina (sp) in diets and how well it protected rats from the damaging effects of arsenic. Thirty albino SpragueDawley strain rats weighing roughly 150±5 gm were randomly assigned into five main groups, six of each When equated with the +ve control group, the groups who were fed SP experienced greater gains in body weight than did the +ve group. When equated with the group serving as the positive control, levels of liver enzymes which include AST, ALT, as well as urea nitrogen and creatinine, reduced significantly in groups three, four and five, respectively. As a result, the spirulina powder had a positive influence on the toxic effects of sodium arsenite toxicity in rats

يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن علم الطحالب حيث يختص علم الطحالب Algology بدراسة مجموعة من الكائنات الحية ذاتية التغذية وهي الطالب Algae كما يسمى هذا العلم Phycology حيث أن Phykos هي كلمة إغريقية (يونانية) معناها الأعشاب البحرية أو الحشائش Seaweeds وLogy معناها العلم ويعود تاريخ ظهور الطحالب إلى العصر ما قبل الكمبري كما إن أقدم الطحالب التي ظهرت على سطح الكرة الأرضية تعود إلى الطحالب أوليات النواة Prokaryotes وهي الطحالب الخضر المزرقة الأحادية الخلية وهذا الكتاب يقدم لنا أهم المعلومات عند علم الطحالب وصفاتها وحالات التكاثر الجنسي لها وموقعها بين الكائنات الحية ويخبرنا عن تواجدها وإنتشارها وتركيبه.

This experiment was carried out at a private palm farm located in Great Musayib enacted / Babylon province on Barhi dates palm trees Phoenix dactylifera L. cultivar to determine the effect of spraying of chitosan and addition of both organic fertilizers and amino acids and seaweed extract in some vegetative traits (number of leaves, the circumference of the trunk and offshoots number) and leaves content (chlorophyll , dry weight and Proline) by spraying the chitosan at concentrations of 5 ml. l-1 and 10 ml.L -1 and the addition of both organic fertilizer and amino acids and seaweed extract at concentrations (1, 2) kg.tree -1 and (3 , 6) ml . L - 1 and (4, 8) ml l -1 respectively. Each treatment replicated five times with a factorial experiment using RCBD, one date palm for each experimental unit.The following are the main findings, The effect of chitosan spraying significantly increase the vegetative properties of the offshoots , the concentration 5 ml.l-1significant increases the number of weakness, trunk circumference and offshoots number, with 13.3 tinea, 31.9 cm, 3.09 offshoot sequentially. Spray 8ml.L-1(S2)of seaweed extract was significantly superior than control treatment and gave leaf chlorophyll content of 31.88 mg.g-1, leaf dry weight of 48.90 %. While the lowest results were in the control treatment, except the leaves proline content.
