يتألف الكتاب من أربعة فصول ولقد اعتبر عدد من مفكري المسلمين وفلاسفتهم وبعض مفكري الغرب، أن أبا نصر محمد بن محمد بن طرخان، المعروف بالفارابي، هو المؤسس الأول للفلسفة السياسية في الإسلام واختلف عدد من المسلمين حول آرائه وأفكاره بين مجل له، ومقدر لعلومه وتنوعها وتوسعها وما تركه من آثار وتأثيرات في موسوعة الفكر والمفكرين المسلمين وبين معارض له إلى حد الإتهام بالضلال والتضليل وصولا إلى التفكير.
