An Application on Belief-Importance Theory in 15 Life Domains
Objective: : The present paper presents results from two studies aiming to adapt the main Belief-Importance (belimp) inventory into Arabic and test the underlying theory in Kuwait. Methods: One thousand four hundred and fifty-eight individuals participated in the study and were allocated according to their scores into one of the four belimp quadrants: Apathy, Depression, Hubris, and Motivation. A new model to test the belimp theory was proposed comprising 3 general life domains labelled Being, Belonging, and Becoming. Results: The results from the reliability and factor analyses suggested that our proposed model was acceptable. Findings in our study, emerging from three broad domain clusters, supported the belimp plane postulations and previous findings with British samples. Conclusion: The obtained results provide solid support to the belimp theory in a different country and culture.

نسعى من خلال هذا المقال العلمي، إلى عرض أهم المفاهيم الأساسية في مجال القياس والتقويم التربوي الصفي، مع التركيز على إبراز المشكلات التي تواجه التربويين والمعلمين عند استخدامهم لعملية القياس والتي يعتمدون على معطياتها الرقمية في تقويمهم لأداء المتعلمين، في مختلف المراحل الدراسية، حيث تكتسي هذه العملية أهمية كبرى تتخطى حدود الأوصاف الكمية البسيطة، وتتعداها إلى الأوصاف الكيفية التي تمكنهم من اتخاذ القرارات التربوية الصحيحة.
Psychometric Properties of the Arabic DASS-21 Scale
The current study aims to investigate the psychometric properties of the Arabic DASS-21 questionnaire. A large-scale cross-sectional study of the Arabic adaptation of the DASS-21 scores. The participants (n= 1235) came from a variety of backgrounds. Overall, the reliability coefficient, Cronbach's alpha, for the gross DASS- 21 score, was 0.94 (95% confidence interval CI between 0.93 and 0.94), indicative of excellent internal consistency. The three- factor model fitted acceptably for the full 21- item dataset. Nonetheless, some items were noted to load onto different factors to their original structure. Our study gives evidence of the excellent reliability, internal consistency, and convergent validity of the Arabic adaptation of DASS- 21. We also confirm the acceptability of the current three- factor composition for the DASS- 21 in its Arabic version. We may conclude that, in its current format, Arabic DASS- 21 can be used in many public and secondary health settings to detect depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms.

Utilizing Elaboration Strategy for Developing EFL Speaking Skills of Secondary School Students
The current research aimed at developing some EFL speaking skills among first-year secondary school students through using elaboration strategy. Thirty participants were drawn from a secondary school in Menoufia. Participants of the study were exposed to pre/post-tests design. Three main instruments were utilized: an EFL speaking skills checklist, an EFL pre/post speaking skills test and a rubric for scoring the EFL speaking skills. For the statistical analysis, t-test for paired samples has been used to compare the mean scores of the obtained data. The program based on using the elaboration strategy for developing EFL speaking strategy was applied to the participants during the first semester of the academic year 2023/2024. Results of the qualities and quantities analysis revealed that the participants demonstrated improvement in EFL speaking skills. Their speaking level has been developed significantly as a result of using the study program. Therefore, it can be concluded that using elaboration strategy has a positive effect on developing EFL speaking skills among secondary school students. The present research may draw the attention of the EFL teachers to use the elaboration strategy in the EFL classroom.
