The Effectiveness of a Suggested Programme in Enriching English Vocabulary of Faculty of Education Students
The purpose of the present study was to design a programme and to test its effectiveness in enriching English vocabulary of Faculty of Education students in Egypt. The sample of the study consisted of 140 students selected randomly from the Faculty of Education at Beni-Suif including both males and females distributed randomly between the experimental and control groups. The two groups were pretested using a vocabulary test prepared by the researcher. The experimental-group students studied the suggested programme. The control-group students were not exposed to such a treatment. The post test was administered after that. Statistical analyses of the data indicated that there were no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the students of the experimental and control groups in the pre-administration of the vocabulary test. Significant differences were found at 0.01 level between the mean scores of the experimental and control group students in the post administration of the test in favour of those of the experimental. There were significant differences at 0.01 level between the mean scores of the experimental-group students in the pre and post administrations of the test in favour of the post. No significant differences were found between the mean scores of the control-group students in the pre and post administrations of the test. Similarly, no significant differences were found between the mean scores of male and female students in the experimental group in the post administration of the test. The programme proved to be effective in enriching English vocabulary of Faculty of Education students with a gain ratio of 1.01.

Beyond Words
The mastery of idiomatic expressions is an important criterion determining EFL learners' overall proficiency in English. Henceforth, the current study aims to investigate the possibility of enhancing students' mastery of idiomatic expressions via a lexical-contextual model to extend EFL learners' vocabulary repertoire. It takes the case of first-year students at the Department of Arts and English Language, Frères Mentouri Constantine 1 University. Two main research tools were adopted to achieve the aforementioned aim: an experiment and a delayed test. The pre and post-test findings revealed improved students' mastery of idiomatic expressions. Furthermore, the delayed test results were in favour of the participants' retention of their level in the post-test regarding vocabulary abilities by revealing the proper use of idioms in a variety of contexts in their written productions.
Англицизмы как источник неологизации языка
One of the actively developing branches of lexicology is neology, the object of its study is a new word or neologism. The task of neology is to identify new words and new meanings for words already existing in the language, analyze the causes and ways of their appearance, describe the factors that influence the emergence of a new language in the lexical system, and develop a language policy regarding new nominations. Neography deals with the lexicographic description of neologisms. In Russian studies, an active study of neologisms began in the second half of the 20th century, but interest in new nominations in the language appeared much earlier. For the first time, the definition of the term neologism was given in the \"Desk Dictionary for References in All Branches of Knowledge\" ed. F. Tollya (1864): -Neologism (Greek), the passion to introduce useless words into the language, i.e. designed to express ideas that are clearly conveyed by other words that have already come into use\" [Alatortseva, 1999 p. 11]. The very word neologism was used earlier, for example, P. YaVyazemsky writes: -I will allow myself neologisms, i.e. additions to the Dictionary of the Russian Academy\" [ibid., p. 11].
Investigating Vocabulary Learning Strategies Used By Pre-Service Teachers At Taibah University In Learning English Vocabulary Items
The present study investigated vocabulary learning strategies used by the first year students (Badr Community College) at Taibah university in learning English vocabulary items. The sample consisted of 98 male and female students during the academic year 2013-2014 who responded to the questionnaire and interviews. Results revealed that students prefer to use the rote learning and ignore other strategies in learning English vocabulary. Accordingly, the researcher recommended developing and improving the idea of using many vocabulary learning strategies which respond to the students' needs and giving them the chance to participate in choosing the instructional materials. This may help them improve their learning practices and their performance in learning English vocabulary.
