Gapping in Modern Standard Arabic
This paper investigates the phenomenon of Gapping in coordination structures in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). It proposes an analysis based on Chomsky's (2005, 2008) Feature-Inheritance model of Agree (FI, henceforth). The analysis diverges from other works on coordination such as Deletion (e.g., Hankamer, 1979; Wilder, 1994), Low VP Coordination and VP-Ellipsis (e.g., Toosarvandani, 2013), and Low VP Coordination followed by an Across-the-Board (ATB) movement (Johnson, 2009); instead, it analyzes coordination in MSA as a binary relation where every coordinated conjunct is a full CP, and the conjunction is the head of a ConjP. The analysis uses semantic as well as syntactic explanation for Gapping in MSA, thus rendering the need for a distinct structure for coordination unnecessary.

هذه رسالة في علم الوضع، تسهل سبيل الوصول إلى معرفة قواعده، والوقوف على مسائله جمعتها لطلبه السنة الثالثة من كلية اللغة العربية، وفق المنهج المقرر عليهم، مشتملة على مقدمة وبابين وخاتمة، فالمقدمة في معنى الوضع، وبيان موضوعه، وثمرته، ونسبته ونشأته، وواضعه وواضع الألفاظ، والباب الأول: في تقسيمات الوضع، ومرجع كل تقسيم، والباب الثاني : في بيان أقسام اللفظ باعتبار مدلوله، وتطبيق أقسام الوضع السابقة على كل قسم ؛ والخاتمة في الكلام على أسماء العلوم والكتب والتراجم، وبيان الموضوع له في المعارف والنكرات ؛ واستكمالا للفائدة وضعت عقب كل باب أسئلة تجمع مسائله، وتعين الطلاب على استذكار القواعد ؛ وذیلت هذه الرسالة بجدول لأنواع الكلام يبين نوع الوضع لها.

Polysemes and Synonym Language Stock
This research study aims at investigating the reason lying behind EFL learners' inability to construe polysemes to output a coherent text while translating from English into Arabic. The researcher, therefore, hypothesizes that there is a rapport between the learners' inability to translate polysemous words and their poor synonym language stock. To test this hypothesis, two groups - experimental and control - were formed; the former consisted of 82 senior EFL learners (51 females and 32 males) in the Department of English, the Faculty of Arts, Port Said University; and the latter was made up of 67 senior learners belonging to the same educational institution. The experimental group was given two pre-tests: translation and synonym, followed by a treatment which in turn followed by two post-tests. The control group, given no treatment, conducted two post-tests. The basic research finding was the positive co-efficient correlation between the ability to construe polysemous words and the synonym language stock. To set an account for this rapport, the researcher postulated that the polysemous words are processed on layers on the semantic level. That is, a lexical item with a sole meaning is processed at layer 1, whereas lexical items with two or more meanings go up to the next layer and then goes to a third providing it still has further semantic contexts.

التطور الدلالي في كتاب الإيضاح في شرح مقامات الحريري للمطرزي ت. 610 هـ
يتناول هذا البحث التطور الدلالي عند واحد من أهم الشخصيات، ألا وهو (أبو الفتح ناصر الدين بن السيد المُطرّزي)، في كتابه الإيضاح في شرح مقامات الحريري لاشتماله على الكثير من الألفاظ التي أشار المطرزي إلى تطورها الدلالي، فإنَّ من يوازن بين شراح المقامات يَجِد تفوقًا كبيرًا لشرح المطرّزي على الشروح الأخرى، وكلُّ هذا يُعبر عن اطلاعه على مصادر اللغة ومعجمات العرب، ويكشف عن شخصيته العلمية الدالة على اطلاعه وسعة علمه. فالتطور الدلالي يُعد جزءا طبيعيًا ومهما من تطور اللغة، حيث يعكس التغيرات في المجتمع وكيفية تفاعل الناس مع البيئة المحيطة بهم، فهو من أهم موضوعات علم الدلالة. ونهدف من خلال هذا البحث إلى الإجابة عن عدة تساؤلات، تتمثل في الآتي: ما المقامات؟ وما أصلها؟ ومتى نشأت؟ وما عوامل التطور الدلالي؟ وما مظاهرة؟
