The Factors of Job Satisfaction among the Nurses in Emergency Department

Background and Study Aim: Saudi Arabia has been experiencing a chronic shortage of healthcare professionals, particularly the nursing profession that has demonstrated a high degree of employee turnover. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore, analyse, and identify the factors that affect the level of job satisfaction among nurses who work in the ED (Emergency Department) in the public hospitals in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, this study has selected Asir Central Hospital (ACH) as the research context. Research Method: This study has employed quantitative research method and collected data through online survey from 267 registered nurses who work in the ED. Findings: The current study has found that the overall score of the job satisfaction among the nurses of the ACH is 3.33, which is higher than 3 in the 5-point Likert scale. Therefore, this study argues that the existing level of job satisfaction among the nurses who work in the ED in the ACH has a moderate level of job satisfaction. This study has found that the availability of resources in terms of working conditions has the highest score, and thus this construct has the highest level of influence on job satisfaction. The second ranked job satisfaction determinant is the work itself, which is followed by social relationships and communications, relationships with management, autonomy in terms of working conditions, scheduling in terms of working conditions, and the extrinsic rewards. This study has also found that gender and education levels do not have any effect on the determinants of job satisfaction, while age has effect on the determinants of job satisfaction. Originality/Value: The outcomes of this study can work as a guide for the managers in the health sector in Saudi Arabia. As there is a chronic shortage of nurses in the KSA, this guidance can help the managers retain their skilled nurses.

The study aimed to measure transformational leadership and its impact on organizational creativity and patient safety in hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, This study is a quantitative study that follow the descriptive and analytical approach depending on questionnaire that was Applied on a sample of (251) of workers at hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the study reaches conclusions the most important of which there were a high rating for transformational leadership in hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study also found an association between transformational leadership and the creative behavior of workers and patient safety in hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In light of the results, the research reached recommendations the most important of which that hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Promote transformational leadership to promote the creative behavior of workers and patient safety in hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This study has investigated the internal service quality and its impact on nurses` job performance. In fact it is an attempt to provide a better understanding of internal service quality at healthcare sectors in order to enhance the nurses' job performance. The main aim of this study is to investigate the relation and impact between internal service quality and nurses` job performance. This study was accomplished based on two methods, quantitative and qualitative (mixed method). The population included (160) participants from the nurses who are employed in King Khalid General Hospital- Hafr Al-Batin, Saudi Arabia during 2022-2023. A questionnaire was used as a tool to collect the required data which analyzed by (SPSS) programs mainly person correlation and regression. Based on the hypotheses developed, the results show that there is a positive relationship and impact between internal service quality and nurses` job performance. This study concluded that applying the policies of internal service quality leads to a high job performance among nurses.

The study aimed to identify the effect of human resources management strategies in its dimensions (recruitment, training, motivation, performance appraisal strategy) on the organizational creativity of the medical and nursing staff. The study adopted the descriptive approach through a questionnaire that was applied to (250) individuals working in three hospitals at King Khaled Hospital. The study results showed that there is a high degree of appreciation for human resources management strategies at King Khaled Hospital, where this is due to the efficiency of its dimensions. The study showed that the performance appraisal strategy was in the first rank, while in the second rank came after the training strategy, and in the third rank was after the recruitment strategy, where those dimensions were at a high level of appreciation. In the fourth and final rank came after the motivation strategy at moderate level of appreciation. The study also found a statistically significant effect of the human resources management strategies (recruitment, training, motivation, performance appraisal strategy) on the organizational creativity of the medical and nursing staff at King Khaled Hospital .In light of the results, the study recommended to strengthen the strategy of human resources management in King Khaled Hospital.

سبل الحد من معوقات تطبيق الترميز الطبي في مستشفيات المملكة العربية السعودية
تهدف هذه الدراسة للحد من معوقات تطبيق الترميز الطبي في مستشفيات المملكة العربية السعودية وخاصة مستشفى الملك خالد بنجران، تعتمد هذه الدراسة على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، حيث يتمثل المجتمع في جميع العاملين في مستشفى الملك خالد بنجران، البالغ عددهم (١٦٨٩) وعينة قوامها ١٦٩ مفردة بحثية تم اختيارها بأسلوب العينة العشوائية البسيطة، وقد تم استخدام استبانة كأداة رئيسية للدراسة وبرنامج التحليل الإحصائي (SPSS). النتائج: يعد من أبرز معوقات تطبيق الترميز الطبي في المستشفيات السعودية وخاصة مستشفى الملك خالد بنجران تتمثل في النقص الكبير في الكوادر البشرية المختصة في عملية الترميز، وضعف العملية التدريبية وطرق التدريب، كما أن السجلات الطبية تحتاج لإعادة تنظيم وترتيب. والجدير بالذكر أن أبرز الاستراتيجيات اللازمة لتطبيق الترميز الطبي في المستشفيات السعودية وخاصة في مستشفى الملك خالد بنجران حسب وجهة نظر عينة الدراسة تمثلت في الاهتمام بالترميز الطبي واستقطاب الكوادر المتخصصة وذوي الخبرات، والعمل على تطوير نظم وبرامج السجلات الطبية، بالإضافة إلى إنشاء البنى التحتية والمنصات والشبكات المختصة، أنه لا توجد فروق دالة إحصائيا في استجابات عينة الدراسة حول معوقات تطبيق الترميز الطبي في المستشفيات السعودية وخاصة في مستشفى الملك خالد بنجران تبعا لمتغيرات (الجنس- العمر- سنوات الخبرة)، توجد فروق في استجابات عينة الدراسة حول معوقات تطبيق الترميز الطبي في المستشفيات السعودية وخاصة في مستشفى الملك خالد بنجران تبعا لمتغيرات (الوظيفة- المستوى التعليمي- عدد الدورات الخاصة بالعمل على برنامج الترميز الطبي). التوصيات: تدريب الكوادر الطبية: يجب توفير برامج تدريب شاملة للكوادر الطبية والإدارية حول أهمية الترميز الطبي وكيفية استخدامه بشكل صحيح، تطوير نظام موحد: من الضروري تطوير نظام ترميز موحد يتماشى مع المعايير الدولية مثل ICD- 10 وCPT، مما يسهل تبادل المعلومات بين المستشفيات، تحسين تكنولوجيا المعلومات: الاستثمار في تكنولوجيا المعلومات الحديثة لضمان سرعة ودقة عملية الترميز، بما في ذلك استخدام البرمجيات المتخصصة، توعية المرضى: توعية المرضى بأهمية الترميز الطبي وتأثيره على جودة الرعاية الصحية، مما يعزز من التعاون بين المستشفى والمرضى.
