يشكل هذا البحث مساهمة في بيان تاريخ المرأة المسلمة في بناء الحضارة الإسلامية وانخراطها في دراسة العلوم الإسلامية ولا سيما تعلمها الحديث وروايته وإجازته، وقد أشتهر القرن الثامن الهجري بكثرة الرواة والمحدثين والفقهاء الموسوعيين، وتعد موسوعة ابن حجر العسقلاني \"الدرر الكامنة في أعيان المائة الثامنة\" أهم مصدر لتراجم علماء القرن الثامن حيث ترجم لكثير من العلماء والمحدثين والفقهاء والشيوخ ومن ضمنهم عالمات ومحدثات وفقيهات ذلك العصر، حيث فاقت فيها اهتمام النساء العالمات بعلم الحديث على سائر العلوم وسماعهن وتعلمهن على شيوخ ومحدثين كبار لا سيما أن أكثر من عرفن بالرواية انتسين إلى أسر علمية والذين أهتموا بتعليم ذواتهم من النساء كما ساهمت بعضهن بالرحلة في طلب الحديث، وقد انتفع من علمهن الشيوخ والمحدثين الكبار، حيث أن أكثر الآخذين منهن من الرجال عن طريق الإجازة ولا يهدف هذا البحث إلى تقديم دراسة نهائية لكل النساء المحدثات في كتاب الدرر الكامنة بل يهتم في المقام الأول بالنساء المحدثات من بلاد الشام، حيث أنهن احتلن المرتبة الأولى في تراجم العسقلاني وهذا البحث يعتمد في المقام الأول على كتاب الدرر الكامنة في الأعيان المائة الثامنة.
