Perceptions of Secondary School Students in Mafraq Governorate towards Distance Learning and Self-Learning in Light of the Corona Pandemic
This study aimed to examine the perceptions of secondary school students in Mafraq Governorate towards distance learning and self-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve this, the researcher designed a questionnaire consisting of 30 items, the validity and reliability of which were confirmed. The questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 582 high school students in Mafraq Governorate. The study adopted a descriptive survey approach. The results indicated that the perceptions of secondary school students in Mafraq Governorate towards distance learning and self-learning during the pandemic were high. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) in the perceptions of the study sample members due to gender, with females showing more positive perceptions across all fields and the overall score. Differences due to the academic branch were also statistically significant, favoring students in the scientific branch. Moreover, differences related to the students' grade level were significant, with second-year students showing more positive perceptions. The study also found a direct, positive correlation between distance education and self-learning. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends increasing efforts to implement distance education as a means to develop self-learning skills in all schools across Jordanian governorates.
The Impact of COVID-19 on Nurses' Feelings, Stress, Coping and Motivation in Palestinian Treatment Centers of Corona
Background: Frontline nurses of COVID-19 found themselves in an unfamiliar new disease work environment, fighting to adapt and control the stress while working at covid-19 centers in Palestine. Aim: To investigate the impact of COVID-19 on nurses' feelings, stress, coping, and motivation in COVID-19 Palestinian treatment Centers. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional design was conducted between Mid of July to the end of October 2021 by recruiting a purposive sample of 390 nurses who worked at the Ministry of Health during COVID-19 pandemic treatment centers. The nurses filled out the COVID-19 Health Personnel Questionnaire with Cronbach's Alpha > 0.9. Results: Palestinian frontline nurses felt that financial incentives constitute a motivator to deal with corona patients. However, they do their duties as health professionals since they must follow ethical obligations (M= 3.78 and 3.75) correspondingly. Nurses have been resentful of wearing PPE every day and being a cause of transmitting the virus to Family or friends. These were the highest stressors (M= 3.91, 3.91, 3.82). They agreed that trusting the staff to care for them in case of infection with COVID-19 and working with all health professionals to overcome COVID-19 will reduce their stress (M= 3.70 and 3.68) in a high score. Whereas updating knowledge about COVID-19 was the highest coping mechanism by nurses (M= 3.93), followed by the usage of appropriate PPE (M=3.79). Also, they agreed that COVID-19 vaccinations were the highest motivating factor (M= 3.80), followed by family support (M= 3.79), according to Palestinian frontline nurses. Conclusion: The feeling, coping, and motivation mechanisms of Palestinian frontline nurses have been impacted by working with an unfamiliar infectious agent, disturbed by a long-time use of PPE and isolation from their families. Family-supportive dependent strategies should be adopted to keep our frontline nurses working with high performance and accepted quality in risky places, struggling countries, and crises.
A Study of Students' Acceptance of E-Learning Applications in English Language Education
Due to the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic, several university students may find themselves unable to engage in conventional English language learning in a physical classroom setting. The imposition of online English instruction compromised the efficacy and outcomes of students' English learning. Therefore, there is a need for a diverse range of technology, media, and platforms to enhance their educational achievements. Using mobile devices and wireless networks to interact with other devices may improve the effectiveness of online English learning for students. To investigate university students' learning behaviors and attitudes, when using e-learning to study English, the current study aimed to assess curiosity, self-efficacy, equipment, experience, perceived ease of use, perceived utility, attitude towards using e-learning resources for English language acquisition, and the actual use of those technologies. This study used questionnaires sent to 4 universities, resulting in a total of 751 valid surveys. This research used Smart-PLS 4.0 to analyze the structural model and validate the hypotheses. The hypothesis testing findings revealed that attitude is the most influential factor in determining the adoption of e-learning for English language acquisition. Both results indicate that variables in the TAM (ease of use and usefulness) have a significant impact on e-learning use outcomes. Likewise, interest, self-efficacy, equipment, and experience factors are influencing e-learning use. In this regard, the research outcome provides rich theoretical understanding and immense practical explanatory power in language acquisition.

From Lockdown to Laugh-Town
This study delves into the realm of humor found in memes that proliferated across various digital platforms in Saudi Arabia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These memes emerged as instrumental means of communication, coping, and adaptation throughout the crisis. The research is driven by the objective of categorizing and comprehending the humor in these memes through a qualitative content analysis. The study adopts the incongruity- resolution (IR) framework to scrutinize 150 Saudi memes. The analysis is centered on incongruity-resolution strategies, the interaction between text and image, and contextual elements that contribute to comprehension. The results reveal that Saudi COVID-19 memes predominantly employ seven incongruity-resolution strategies, both with and without image integration. Notably, a substantial portion of the memes (30.5%) defies categorization within any specific IR class and is hence classified as 'textless memes.' These memes effectively convey compelling messages without any textual content, relying on shared experiences. The analysis has yielded valuable insights into the diverse methods employed in constructing humor, resolving incongruities, and the significance of contextual information in generating humorous effects. These findings carry implications for cross-cultural communication, digital media, public health communication, and the exploration of humor within crisis situations. Understanding the role of humor in navigating global crises and its evolutionary dynamics is pivotal for achieving effective communication and adaptation within the rapidly transforming digital landscape.
Statistical and Spatial Analysis of the Impact of COVID-19 Mortality on some Demographic Factors in Kuwait in 2020
Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic was directly responsible for a large number of death cases worldwide and Kuwait was no exception. This article attempted to analyze and understand any impacts of demographic factors on COVID-19 mortality in Kuwait over 2020. Specifically, age, nationality status, gender and population density of the deceased were considered. Method: Statistical and spatial analysis utilized ArcGIS and hypothesis testing to obtain the results. Results: Based on the results, it was found that all three demographic factors (age, nationality and gender) had significant statistical impact on COVID-19 mortality. As the elderly, males and citizens were the groups at highest risk of dying from COVID-19. Furthermore, a spatial analysis has shown that population density of Kuwait's governorates did not have any significant impact on mortality due to COVID-19. Conclusion: The findings suggested that any policies and public health campaigns for future pandemics or COVID-19 waves should be designed in a way to mitigate the impacts on the most vulnerable groups.
The Socioeconomic Impact of COVID-19 in Sudan
The coronavirus outbreaks and the measures taken to control their spread negatively impacted the global economy. This study aims to provide insights into the socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 in Sudan, using data from the Sudan High-Frequency Survey on COVID-19 conducted by phone. The study used descriptive and analytical statistical analysis. The results revealed that about 98 % of the population heard about the coronavirus. However, the measures taken to limit the spread of the virus were more practiced in Khartoum than in other regions. An estimate of about 1.7 million households (47 %) lost income from any source due to COVID-19. Accordingly, around 25 %- 30 % of households could not access staple foods and medicine. More than 90 % of school- children in all regions, except Khartoum (76 %), were not engaged in any education activity during school closures. Adopted coping strategies were living on previous savings in 1.3 million households (22 %), reducing food consumption in 2.8 million households (48 %), reducing non-food consumption in 1.4 million households (23 %), relying on credit purchasing in 873,362 households (15 %), and engaging in additional income-generating activities in 389,003 households (7 %) while 7 % received assistance from friends and relatives. These results will enable policymakers to design result-based policies to mitigate the socioeconomic impacts of coronavirus in Sudan and to learn lessons for future precautions.

Assessing the Digital Information Literacy of Patients during COVID-19 Pandemic
People have displayed an overuse of online platforms such as social media to seek information about COVID-19, in which there are misleading information and enormous infodemics on the Internet. This study aims to investigate hospital patients' digital health information literacy during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study followed a quantitative approach. A paper-based questionnaire was distributed to a sample of patients at Al Razi hospital in Kuwait. The questionnaire consisted of three main sections: dimension of digital health information literacy, online information sources used by participants to search for COVID-19 information, and key topics searched during the pandemic. The target population comprised of regular patients at Al-Razi Hospital, aged 18 to 60. A total of 136 responses were collected. The study found that the most pronounced particulars in digital health information literacy assessed the salience of online content, searching for information on COVID-19, and inputting self-generated data. Search engines, social media, and the websites of public bodies were the most used sources for information on COVID-19 and related issues. The main topics that the respondents searched for included COVID-19 symptoms, its transmission, and current spread. This study shows that the overall level of health information literacy is good. However, it is essential to improve patients' digital health information literacy by using tailored interventions. These interventions can improve the quality of health information circulated online, implement fact-checking techniques on social media, and educate those who produce, supply, and provide health information and services digitally.
