The Impact of Diversity of Board Members on the Financial Performance of Lebanese and Syrian Banks
This research aims to investigate the relationship between board diversity and the financial performance of banks listed on the Beirut Securities Exchange (BSE) and Damascus Stock Exchange (DSE) in Lebanon and Syria, respectively. The study adopts a quantitative approach, employing hypothesis testing and analyzing secondary data from the banks' annual reports over a ten-year period from 2010 to 2019. The analysis includes descriptive statistics and inferential statistical techniques. Furthermore, panel data regression analysis is employed to examine the influence of board diversity variables, specifically the return on equity (ROE) and return on assets (ROA), on the financial performance of the banks. This study examines the impact of board diversity on the financial performance of banks listed on the exchanges in Lebanon and Syria. The findings reveal that gender diversity does not significantly affect financial performance, while age diversity has a positive influence. Education diversity positively impacts the financial performance of banks on the Damascus Stock Exchange but not on the Beirut Securities Exchange. Board experience diversity does not have an impact on financial performance in both countries.

التاريخ شيخ جليل، في يده قلم حاد اليراعة، وفي عينيه نظرة صقر، يرى الوقائع وما خلفها، ويسجلها بأمانة. قد يتأخر التاريخ في تدوين كل ذلك، لكنه لابد أن يفعل، ولابد لصفحاته أن تكتب، وأن تعاد كتابتها حتى يستقيم فيه الحق، ويظهر زيف الباطل. ومن يقرأ التاريخ اليوم وغدا وبعده، قراءة متمعنة متفحصة، نـزيهة، سيدرك الدور القيادي الرائد لهذا القطر العربي المكافح على كل الجبهات، المنطلق في كل مواقفه واستراتيجياته، من الإيمان بأمته وحقوق هذه الأمة، من أقصى حدودها إلى أقصاها، من تطوان إلى عمان إلى بلاد الشام، ومن رفضها التاريخي لكل صياغات سايكس بيكو ووعد بلفور وانتهاك الصيغة العربية لبلاد الشام، وسورية منها في القلب، ولم يتوان يوما عن تقديم كل ما يتطلبه الدفاع عن قضايا هذه الأمة وثوابتها، من كفاح ونضال، وما يزال يدأب على تعزيز مواقف الفداء، في عمله الدؤوب انتصارا للحرية، ومثل العدالة، ورفضا للتبعية والاستلاب والخنوع والعدوان، ولكل أشكال الممارسات والانتهاكات، وحرصا على السلام العادل، وبناء الحياة الكريمة.

Syrian Economic Crisis in Arabic News
This research employs Fairclough and Leeuwen's discourse analysis methodology to examine the portrayal of the Syrian economic crisis in Arabic news outlets, including Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, and Al-Ikhbariyah, Syria. The study aims to reveal how these outlets include or exclude discussions about Syria's economic crisis and to explore the implications of these discourse strategies on Syria's economy and societal progress. Analyzing data from 2021 to 2022, the study uncovers various instances of exclusionary discourse, such as Passivation and Nominalization, and contrasts these with examples of active discourse, including Abstraction and Identification. The findings suggest a generally accurate depiction of the economic crisis across different news outlets, despite varying discourse strategies that lead to different perspectives. The research highlights the Russia-Ukraine conflict's role in exacerbating Syria's economic woes, transforming the country into a conduit for weaponry and food and impacting neighboring nations like Lebanon and Iran.

تعد النظافة إحدى أهم مقومات الوجود البشري، ولا يستطيع سكان المدن الاستمرار في العيش فيها في صحة وسلامة ما لم يحافظوا على نظافتها، وفي موضوع الدراسة النظافة في مدينة دمشق في العصر العثماني، تساءلنا: من كان يقوم بأعمال النظافة فيها؟ جهة واحدة أم جهات عدة؟ وما علاقة بعضها ببعضها الآخر؟ ولا بد من دراسة عوامل النظافة في المدينة من توافر المياه والثقافة الاجتماعية ودور السلطة العثمانية، كذلك النظافة في المنازل والأسواق، ودراسة معوقاتها وصعوباتها، وصولا إلى خدمات النظافة المأجورة التي أصبحت تشير إلى التطور الحضاري وتعالج مسألة النظافة من منظور أكثر ضرورة، إذ تحولت النظافة من أمر ثانوي، إلى شيء رئيس يدفع مقابله المال، ولمعالجة كل ما ذكر آنفا عدنا إلى المصادر التاريخية الأصيلة وأبرزها سجلات المحاكم الشرعية في دمشق وكتب الرحالة في ظل عدم وجود دراسات سابقة عن الموضوع.

تقاليد الرعي
يتناول كتاب \"تقاليد الرعي\" والذي قام بتأليفه \"محمود مفلح البكر\" في حوالي (517) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (الرعي في سوريا)، يكشف الكتاب عن أسرار حياة الرعي التي يكتنفها الكثير من البساطة. فيجد أن هناك ثلاث بيئات رعوية أساسية: الصحراوية، البادية، الريفية. ويبين أنه تتصف الأولى بجفافها وقلة أمطارها. كما أنها شبه خالية من السكان يتنقل فيها بعض البدو من مربي الإبل، فيرعون نبات هذه المنطقة أو تلك، ثم ينتقلون إلى غيرها. أما الثانية، فتحتل مساحة مترامية من بلاد الشام والعراق والجزيرة العربية. ويوضح البكر أنه كان لمهنة الرعي في البلاد العربية، دورها المهم عبر مراحل التاريخ، حتى عصرنا الراهن. إذ عززت التواصل الاجتماعي بين مختلف المناطق المتنائية، كاليمن والحجاز والشام ونجد والعراق ومصر.

Measuring the Impact of ECO Dimension on Economic Growth in Syria
Our paper aims to clarify the impact of eco dimension on economic growth in Syria. For achieving this aim, we apply cointegration methodology (ARDL) method. We focus on five main indicators (Economic growth rate, Carbon dioxide, Alternative and nuclear energy, Electricity consumption, Agricultural land). The results clear that both electricity consumption and CO2 emissions have positive significant effect on economic growth in long run. Also, the results support for feedback hypothesis between economic growth and alternative-nuclear energy in both short-run and long-run. On the other side, Agricultural land effected negatively on the economic growth at 1 percent level of significance.
