Shariah-Compliant Investment Funds
The main objective of this paper is to develop and report an in-depth insight of the effects of globalization on the role of Shariah-Compliant Investment Funds (SCIFs) in promoting social justice by interviewing key stakeholders. The research critically evaluates the purposive role and characteristics of SCIFs in KSA. It examines the role of the financial issues, investors, and regulators, relative to SCIFs and the effects of globalization. The analysis identifies that the absence of social justice may be due to the global economic influence of the West, and its emphasis on financial returns, which has permeated through to SCIFs through globalization. Interviewees did not link SCIF practices with social justice Islamic concepts even though they believed in the importance of social justice and, as a result, SCIFs are not achieving their social justice objectives, as shown from their screening criteria. SCIFs should take advantage of globalization and avoid its negative impact. Therefore, this paper has policy implications and provide recommendation to improve the practice of SCIFs in KSA toward achieving social justice.
Traversing Utopian Nature: A Proto-Ecological Approach to Thomas More's Utopia
An understanding of the ecological philosophy of More's Utopia invites both a textual and contextual analysis. This fact/fiction interrelationship, inherent within utopian texts, makes any critical attempt to concentrate solely on their historical context or textual format flawed and reductive. More's society was an agrarian, feudal, subsistence economy on the verge of transformation to a capitalist market economy. Land enclosures, referred to by More in the First Book of Utopia, represent a site for defining oppositional views regarding nature/human relationships. In early modern texts, pastoral and georgic concepts of nature were blurred in a perpetual process of interpenetration. It is this liminal position, which Utopia assumes as a fictional as well as a factual space that invites its interpretation as a chronotope. My research is concerned with dealing with the canonical text, Utopia from an ecocritical perspective. Questions which concern me in this research revolve around: The relation between textual and contextual Nature in this text, Exploring the relationship between nature and humans from its earliest expressions and tracing within these early expressions the beginnings of contemporary ecological problems.
Adaptation or Loss in News Translation the BBC Arabic and English Websites as an Example
This paper deals with loss that occurs in news translation when BBC translators render a news story from Arabic into English or vice versa. It shows how some translators fail to deal with the dimension of rendering discourse as a social practice, unintentionally or even intentionally to manipulate the original relations of power and ideology implied in the source text. Light is shed on the circumstances under which the discourse is produced. The research model is highly sociological and culturist. It seeks to uncover the complex social, political, cultural and ideological forces which shape media translation practices. The population under analysis is a group of texts carefully selected to explore the qualitative aspects of the translations. The analyses are done in light of Fairclough's approach to CDA that depends on a method of three components: that is, description, interpretation and explanation. In some cases, critical discourse analysis and corpus linguistics are used together to examine translated texts and produce more general results. Analyses of texts along different periods of time prove that translating news stories on the BBC websites is for the most part a process of adaptation; editors adapt the story, whether political, scientific, sports or economic, to make it accessible to the reader. Eventually, the study recommends that there is an urgent need for building Arabic translational corpora. Such corpora are to be used with other linguistic and cultural tools within the framework of a multidisciplinary approach to get the best results for any issue in translation studies.

Recasting Dorothy Wordsworth
Women writers are often neglected in the literary canon. More often than not, critically acclaimed Romantic writers were male. The most famous Romantic poet, known for his poetic genius is William Wordsworth. Not much scholarly attention has been given to his sister, Dorothy Wordsworth, who wrote extensively but not publicly. This paper sheds light on Dorothy Wordsworth's journals as worthy of further literary recognition. Many literary critics and scholars have underestimated the value of her writing as not poetic enough, but in her rigorous documentation of everyday life, readers are able to gain insight into the harsh effects of patriarchy on women writers. Unlike her brother, Dorothy's sense of self was not egotistical and instead hesitant and unsure. This paper uncovers Dorothy's divided sense of self as evident in her writings and claims that her literary genius has gone unnoticed and could be considered as experimental and life writing.
