From the Cátedras Nacionales (1967-1971) to the Universidad Nacional y Popular de Buenos Aires (1973-1974). Formative experiences of university´s institutionality
The article is the result of a research focused on the history of the University of Buenos Aires, particularly on the uncompleted project of university reform that was fostered from May 1973. I analyze the case of the Cátedras Nacionales (1967-1971) as one of the experiences that precede the university project partially institutionalized since 1973. Among those cases that we have called formative experiences, the Cátedras Nacionales are a paradigmatic one, and perhaps the most explored. However, not always they have been recognized as the basis of the institutional transformation project that was fostered a few years later. Through a variety of primary sources, this paper argues that the Cátedras Nacionales and the University Reform Project are two separate moments which should be differentiated, but at the same time it is crucial to analyze the historical continuity of their postulates and the trajectories of the actors which participated on those events in order to understand the ways in which the reform project was institutionalized.
Magical realism and the history of the emotions in Latin America
Iconoclastic in spirit, Magical Realism and the History of the Emotions in LatinAmerica is the first study of affect and emotion in magical realist literature.Against the grain of a vast body of scholarship, it argues that magical realism is neither exotic commodity nor postcolonial resistance, but an art form fueled by a search for spaces of.
RENEGADOS DEL COMUNISMO AL SERVICIO DE LOS EE. UU.
The article focuses on the figure of Julián Gorkín, a militant of the Marxist Unification Labour Party (POUM) during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Gorkín went into exile in Mexico and began working for the USa. He moved inside the revolutionary line until he broke with the orthodoxia of the Third international in the 1920 decade and ended up linked to the american secret services. He turned into a fierce defender of the atlanticism Europeanism in the 1960’s. In our study we examined the work that Gorkín developed as Cold Warrior and the operations in which he was involved. in addition, we analyse how his work was essential to encourage other former Spanish communists to serve US interests. Finally, we explain how the Franco dictatorship benefited indirectly from this work in order to attack Spain’s republican past.
