Assembly Simulation and Optimization Method for Underconstrained Frame Structures of Aerospace Vehicles

Aerodynamic contour dimensional accuracy is very important for the stable and safe flight of aerospace vehicles. Nevertheless, due to the influence of various factors such as material properties, machining and manufacturing deviations, and assembly and installation deviations, key structural geometric dimensions are frequently exceeded. Therefore, this paper investigates a data-driven combined vector loop method (VLM)–Skin Model Shapes (SMS) method to realize aerospace vehicle structural geometric accuracy analysis; assembly optimization targeting contour deviation is also achieved. Tests are carried out on a typical aerospace vehicle’s underconstrained structural workpieces to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

XCOR, developing the next generation spaceplane
Employing the same informational approach Erik Seedhouse used in \"SpaceX\" and \"Bigelow Aerospace\", this new book familiarizes space enthusiasts with the company XCOR Aerospace and examines the design of the two-seater Lynx. The new spaceplane's low weight and high octane fuel confer important advantages, such as direct runway launches and the ability to fly several times per day. Over the last 15 years, XCOR has developed and built 13 different rocket engines, built and flown two manned rocket-powered aircraft and has accumulated over 4,000 engine firings and nearly 500 minutes of run time on their engines. This book serves as a go-to reference guide for suborbital scientists and those seeking to learn how one company has found success. Additionally, it describes the medical and training requirements for those flying on board the Lynx and the related critical roles of the astronaut trainers and a new breed of commercial space pilots. Multi-Layer Fault-Tolerant Robust Filter for Integrated Navigation in Launch Inertial Coordinate System

As to an aerospace vehicle, the flight span is large and the flight environment is complex. More than that, the existing navigation algorithms cannot meet the needs to provide accurate navigation parameters for aerospace vehicles, which results in the decline of navigation accuracy. This paper proposes a multi-layer, fault-tolerant robust filtering algorithm of aerospace vehicle in the launch inertial coordinate system to address this problem. Firstly, the launch inertial coordinate system is used as the reference coordinate system for navigation calculation, and the state equation and measurement equation of the navigation system are established in this coordinate system to improve the modeling accuracy of the navigation system. On this basis, a multi-layer, fault-tolerant robust filtering algorithm is designed to estimate and compensate the unknown input in the state equation in real time and adjust the noise variance matrix in the measurement equation adaptively. Simulation results show that the errors about the integrated navigation system output parameters are reduced, through this algorithm, which improves the attitude, velocity and position estimation accuracy of the integrated navigation system. In addition, the algorithm enhances the fault tolerance and robustness of the filtering algorithm.

Resilient Multi-Source Integrated Navigation Method for Aerospace Vehicles Based on On-Line Evaluation of Redundant Information

Aerospace vehicle navigation systems are equipped with multi-source redundant navigation sensors. According to the characteristics of the above navigation system configuration, building a resilient navigation framework to improve the accuracy and robustness of the navigation system has become an urgent problem to be solved. In the existing integrated navigation methods, redundant information is only used for backup. So, it cannot use the redundant navigation information to improve the accuracy of the navigation system. In this paper, a resilient multi-source fusion integrated navigation method based on comprehensive information evaluation has been proposed by combining of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis in information theory. Firstly, this paper proposes a multi-layer evaluation framework of redundant information and carries out quantitative analysis of redundant information with the information disorder analysis theory to improve the reliability of the navigation system. Secondly, a navigation output effectiveness evaluation system has been established to analyze the output of heterogeneous navigation subsystems qualitatively to improve the fusion accuracy. Finally, through the mutual correction of multi-level information evaluation results, the error decoupling between the output parameters of heterogeneous navigation sensors has been realized to improve the robustness of the system. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can adaptively allocate and adjust the weight of navigation information at all levels, realize the “non-stop” work of the navigation system and enhance the resilient of the navigation architecture. The navigation accuracy is improved compared with the existing multi-source fusion algorithm, which reflects the reliability and robustness of this algorithm.

Demonstration of a prototype design synthesis capability for space access vehicle design

The early conceptual design (CD) phase of space access vehicles (SAVs) is the most abstract, innovative and technologically challenging phase of the entire aerospace design life cycle. Although the design decision-making during this phase influences around 80 percent of the overall life cycle cost, it is the most abstract and thus least understood phase of the entire design life cycle. The history of SAV design provides numerous examples of project failures that could have been avoided if the decision-maker had had the capability to forecast the potential risks and threats correctly ahead of time during the conceptual design phase. The present study addresses this crucial phase and demonstrates a best-practice synthesis methodology prototype to advance the current state of the art of CD as applied to SAV design. Developed by the Aerospace Vehicle Design (AVD) Laboratory at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), the Aerospace Vehicle Design Synthesis process and software (AVDS) is a prototype solution for a flight vehicle configuration–flexible (generic) design synthesis capability that can be applied to the primary categories of SAVs. This study focusses on introducing AVDS, followed by the demonstration and verification of the system’s capability through a sizing case study based on the data-rich Boeing X-20 Dyna-Soar spaceplane.

Purpose
To guarantee the asymptotic stability of discrete-time nonlinear systems, this paper aims to propose an evolved bat algorithm fuzzy neural network (NN) controller algorithm.
Design/methodology/approach
In evolved fuzzy NN modeling, the NN model and linear differential inclusion representation are established for the arbitrary nonlinear dynamics. The control problems of the Fisher equation and a temperature cooling fin for high-speed aerospace vehicles will be described and demonstrated. The signal auxiliary controlled system is represented for the nonlinear parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) systems and the criterion of stability is derived via the Lyapunov function in terms of linear matrix inequalities.
Findings
This representation is constructed by sector nonlinearity, which converts the nonlinear model to a multiple rule base for the linear model and a new sufficient condition to guarantee the asymptotic stability.
Originality/value
This study also injects high frequency as an auxiliary and the control performance to stabilize the nonlinear high-speed aerospace vehicle system.
