Historical Statistics of the United States: A Case Study in Government-Professional Organization Cooperation
The history of the development of \"Historical Statistics of the United States\" over three editions and two supplements offers an interesting case study in federal government-professional organization cooperation. In this article, White uses new sources to show the perspective of the economists and historians who were deeply involved in its development and the activities of their professional associations, including the Social Science Research Council, the American Economics Association, the Economic History Association, and the American Statistical Association, in working with the Bureau of the Census. As White shows, the relationship differs from the more common funder-fundee relationship seen in other government-professional organization collaborations for the production of information sources.

The chapter concludes with tips on learning about relevant rulemakings and obtaining assistance on preparing comment letters.
Multi-omics approaches to disease
High-throughput technologies have revolutionized medical research. The advent of genotyping arrays enabled large-scale genome-wide association studies and methods for examining global transcript levels, which gave rise to the field of “integrative genetics”. Other omics technologies, such as proteomics and metabolomics, are now often incorporated into the everyday methodology of biological researchers. In this review, we provide an overview of such omics technologies and focus on methods for their integration across multiple omics layers. As compared to studies of a single omics type, multi-omics offers the opportunity to understand the flow of information that underlies disease.
