History buff hopes to add to his list of firsts
  \"I was campaigning for (President Barack) Obama at the same time and complained that yard signs kept getting stolen from my house,\" he said. \"A guy saw my name and picture and thought 'That looks like my son.' He did some research and found me. He lives in Greensboro, and we met right before New Year's. We've still kept in touch.\" \"I like trying to find out how the country got started,\" Atkinson said. \"I always want to know how things happened.\" In his free time, Atkinson enjoys playing video games - especially \"Call of Duty 5,\" \"Grand Theft Auto 4\" and racing games. He works as a shift manager at the Subway restaurant on North Main Street in High Point where he plans to continue working to help put himself through college. He said he would also like to thank his friend, Thomas Fields, and his friends' parents, Dave and Susie Fields, for all they did to help Atkinson in his high school career.

Sunnyside's Steven Monterrey, who ran for 111 yards, scored on a 1-yard run to tie the game in the first quarter, and then [Andrew Daley] and [Rafael Salmeron] took over on offense. Sunnyside needed the cushion as Shadle Park's Levi McBournie and Brandon Atkinson were an equally dangerous tandem. OLE MISS JUNIORS LEAD MEET
[Brandon Atkinson] won the triple jump with his leap of 51-8.25. [Franz Bernard] took top honors in the 400 meters with his time of 48.05, while [Antwon Hicks] won the 55-meter hurdles with a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 7.15. Junior Octavia Carter placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with her time of 8.18. Junior Brandie Plyler tied for sixth place in the pole vault by clearing 11-2.25. Sophomore Antisha Anderson placed fifth in the high jump with her mark of 5-5.75. Carter finished sixth with her mark of 5-4.25.
Arrests made in Akron shooting
Akron police, responding to a call concerning shots fired about 1 a.m. this morning, found [Thaddeus Merriweather], of the 1200 block of Maxen Drive in Akron lying in the street. Police said he was taken to Akron General Medical Center, where he was treated for several gunshot wounds and was reported in serious condition.

SPR won a free kick right on the edge of the area when [Liam Atkinson] (whose pace caused [Coulby] trouble all game) was brought down, however [Brandon Terry] sent the resulting free kick straight into the wall. Despite Ben Armstrong being the busier of the two keepers it was an even first half that ended 1-1. With an SPR attack broke down early in the second half Coulby counter attacked with great speed, Armstrong committed himself to coming out and Coulby took the lead.
