The Borgia family : rumor and representation
\"The Fortunes of the Borgia Family explores the historical and cultural structures that underpin the Borgia family, their notoriety, and persistence and reinvention in the popular imagination.\"-- Provided by publisher.
The Pope's daughter
\"Lucrezia Borgia is one of the most vilified figures in modern history. The daughter of a notorious pope, she was twice betrothed before the age of eleven and thrice married--one husband was forced to declare himself impotent and thereby unfit and another was murdered by Lucrezia's own brother, Cesar Borgia. She is cast in the role of murderess, temptress, incestuous lover, loose woman, femme fatale par excellence. But there is always more than one version of a story. Lucrezia Borgia is the only woman in history to serve as the head of the Catholic Church. She successfully administered several of the Renaissance Italy's most thriving cities, founded one of the world's first credit unions, and was a generous patron of the arts. She was mother to a prince and to a cardinal. She was a devoted wife to the Prince of Ferrara, and the lover of the poet Pietro Bembo. She was a child of the renaissance and in many ways the world's first modern woman.\"--Jacket flap.
The Vatican princess : a novel of Lucrezia Borgia
\"Glamorous and predatory, the Borgias became Italy's most ruthless and powerful family, electrifying and terrorizing their 15th-century Renaissance world. To this day, Lucrezia Borgia is known as one of history's most notorious villainesses, accused of incest and luring men to doom with her arsenal of poison ... Gortner's new novel delves beyond the myth to depict Lucrezia in her own voice, from her pampered childhood in the palaces of Rome to her ill-fated, scandalous arranged marriages and complex relationship with her adored father and her rival brothers--brutal Juan and enigmatic Cesare\"-- Provided by publisher.
Blood and beauty : the Borgias : a novel
A tale inspired by the lives of Borgia siblings Lucretia and Cesare traces the family's rise in the aftermath of Rodrigo Borgia's rise to the papacy, during which war, a terrifying sexual plague, and the family's notorious reputation forge an intimate bond between brother and sister.
Small Shop Has Big Ambitions
While most businesses start out highly leveraged, at least one new area tool and die shop is operating without debt. Of course, the owners aren't getting paid. Frank Borgia and his father, Frank Sr., began operating Fab Machine & Tool, located at 0-1870 Lake Michigan Drive in Ottawa County, last November. Since they began doing jobs for local manufacturers and shops, they've doubled in size. But they still haven't paid themselves. According to Frank, \"it's discipline.\" Both Borgias are die makers at General Motors Corp.'s Wyoming CPC plant, but make their way to the son's house at night and on weekends to build their own business. According to Frank, three machines were purchased in early 1988 for $9,000, and over the next two years another $90,000 was spent on machinery. Also, the Borgias built additions to Frank's house and garage by themselves, in order to provide space for the shop. (excerpt)
