[p. 431] Contrary to Tveskov's portrayal, our article does not address tradition, the Chumash, or any indigenous people in the conventional sense that Tveskov intends, and in fact contests the charge of spuriousness, as do all our previous articles (see, e.g., Haley and Wilcoxon 1997).

Haley comments on the inclusion of his work with Larry Wilcoxon in the article by James P. Boggs regarding the contrasts between liberal theory and culture theory. He points out that Boggs leads readers to think that he and co-author Wilcoxon tried to negate Indian claims as spurious.
