Multiple security certification system between blockchain based terminal and internet of things device: Implication for open innovation
As the number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices increases, services expand and illegal hacking and infringement methods become more sophisticated, an effective solution for blockchain technology is required as a fundamental solution to security threats. In this paper, we develop the security module of an IoT device based on blockchain technology that blocks hacking and information infringement and forms a multi-security blockchain system between the IoT device and the user device and we develop a user application. We contribute to addressing the security threats faced by IoT application services by developing a new method. In particular, we present some schemes for the development of a multi-security certification system based on blockchain for IoT security.
Cultivation mode of mechatronics professionals in higher vocational institutions under “1+X” certificate system
The cosine similarity approach of the collaborative filtering customized recommendation algorithm is used in this work to first compute the trust degree among users. Next, it identifies the closest neighbor set for users as an addition to the similarity degree, then predicts users’ ratings of items through an optimized item prediction rating strategy based on the ratings of users’ nearest neighbor set and recommends the items with higher prediction ratings to users. Then, we examine the goals and standards for talent development under the “1+X” hybrid certificate and modern apprenticeship systems and explore and build a suitable talent training model for higher vocational mechatronics technology majors. Finally, the research sample is selected from the electromechanical majors of higher vocational institutions, and a collaborative filtering, personalized recommendation algorithm is used to analyze the study sample data set’s data. The findings indicate that T=15 is a preferable option to guarantee a specific level of accuracy since the MAE of the collaborative filtering customized recommendation algorithm at T=30 and T=60 is lowered very little compared to that at T=15. This study provides informative opinions for universities to innovate and reform the talent cultivation mode and solve a series of problems in the current talent cultivation mode so that the quality of talent cultivation in Chinese universities can be improved continuously.
The Building Certification System - A Tool of Sustainable Development of University Campuses
The study is part of humanity's current concerns of tempering climate change for sustainable development, in the context where the construction sector is responsible for a significant percentage of greenhouse gas emissions. In the present work, through a rigorous documentation, the authors synthesize several existing green and sustainable building certification systems. Extending the study from buildings to green neighbourhoods, to university campuses and even to green cities, models of their sustainable development are highlighted. The authors summarize the results of the various \"green\" ratings, initiating \"Top 10 Greenest Universities in the world\", demonstrating the interest of certification and classification. The paper presents the case study of the University of Oradea. From this perspective, participation in a rating of green campuses, as well as certification of buildings, are stimulating elements for approaching a sustainable development strategy. Thus, with the registration in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, the University of Oradea is set to rise in the ranking, which actually led to the improvement of the green criteria and implicitly to an orientation towards a sustainable development of the university campus. At the same time, the paper demonstrates that the energy certification of old buildings engaged in the \"wave of renovations\" is a tool for the sustainable development of university campuses.
Model-based assurance evidence management for safety–critical systems
Most safety–critical systems are subject to rigorous assurance processes to justify that the systems satisfy given requirements and are dependable. These processes are typically conducted in compliance with standards and require the provision of assurance evidence in the form of system artifacts, such as system specifications and testing results. The management of assurance evidence is usually a complex process because of the large number of artifacts to deal with, the amount of information to gather about the artifacts, and the need to guarantee evidence quality, among other issues. Our aim is to facilitate assurance evidence management by means of a model-based approach. The approach is based on a metamodel that defines the information to be collected about evidence artifacts during their lifecycle. A process for assurance evidence management and usage guidance are also presented. The approach has been developed in the scope of several industry-academia projects, implemented in the OpenCert tool, and validated by practitioners in 10 industrial case studies. Based on the results of the validation, we argue that the approach is an effective means for assurance evidence management and that it could improve the state of the practice.
Study on the Influence Mechanism of Environmental Management System Certification on Enterprise Green Innovation
Improving the green technology innovation capability of enterprises is an important way for industrial enterprises to improve product quality and production efficiency and reduce industrial pollution and energy consumption. Based on the Porter hypothesis, this paper took the data of listed companies of the heavy polluting industry in Chinese A-shares from 2011–2018 as a study sample, and a difference-in-differences (DID) model was constructed to explore the impact of environmental management system certification (EMSC) on enterprises’ green innovation. This paper also studied the differential impact between the EMSC and enterprises’ green innovation from the perspective of enterprise heterogeneity. It was found that the EMSC has a significant promotion effect on the enterprises’ green innovation; this promotion changes with the size and ownership of the enterprise and the lifecycle of the enterprise. Meanwhile, customer, shareholder, and creditor satisfaction all play a positive moderating role in the process of EMSC affecting green innovation, while the moderating role of supplier satisfaction is not significant. The findings of this paper have important implications for the understanding of the role of EMSC in promoting green innovation in enterprises.
Green Building Adoption on Office Markets in Europe: An Empirical Investigation into LEED Certification
The goal of the paper is to evaluate the impact of selected factors on the adoption of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building certification in Europe. In the empirical part of the paper we track the fraction of LEED-registered office space in selected European cities, and assess the impact of selected socioeconomic and environmental factors on the certification adoption rate. This research contributes to the ongoing debate about the adoption of green buildings in commercial property markets. In this paper, we investigate factors affecting the adoption of LEED certification using the Arellano and Bond generalized method-of-moments estimator. Compared to prior studies, which relied on cross-sectional data, our research uses a panel approach to investigate the changes in green building adoption rates in selected European cities. Among the cities that are quickly adopting LEED are Frankfurt, Warsaw, Stockholm, and Dublin. The adoption process was not equally fast in Brussels and Copenhagen. Using the dynamic panel model approach, we found that the adoption of green building certification is linked to overall innovativeness in the economy and the perceived greenness of the city. Contrary to some previous studies we did not observe links between the size of the office market and the LEED adoption rate.
Digital badges in education
Digital badges provide new affordances for online educational activities and experiences. When used with points and leaderboards, a badge can become a gamification element allowing learners to compete with themselves or others, and to know how close they are to accomplishing a goal and acquiring its accompanying reputation. In this role, badges motivate continued engagement, which increases time on task and supports skill acquisition through performance. Learning outcomes signified by badges can also be displayed in an e-portfolio or on web sites and are highly transportable to social media sites. In this role they summarize achievement and signal accomplishment. With these characteristics, digital badges have the potential to become an alternative credentialing system, providing visible recognition in digital symbols that link directly via metadata to validating evidence of educational achievements in public displays. This paper will trace the brief history of digital badges, define what they are, give examples of their use, and discuss their educational affordances.
Recent advances in organic agriculture: innovations, challenges, and opportunities
Organic agriculture has become a more sustainable option compared to conventional agriculture, emphasizing biodiversity, healthy soils, and restrained pesticide applications. The purpose of this review is to integrate advances in cross-regional organic agriculture, with a special focus on how policy contexts, certification schemes, and technological advancements interact to influence adoption and sustainability levels. It highlights the developments, challenges, and sustainable outcomes of organic agriculture systems in four major regions of the world, including India, Europe, Malaysia, and the United States. Comparative analysis indicates that policy-based models, such as the EU’s Green Deal, which aims to have 25% of agricultural land under organic farming by 2030, have accelerated the adoption of organic agriculture. In contrast, U.S. systems, although yielding 10–18% less, have 22–35% higher profitability due to market incentives and USDA programs. It also seeks to contrast regional models of organic farming, providing a brief overview of policy regimes, certification systems, technological innovations, and disease management strategies in organic farming. In India, indigenous practices and Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) provide support to smallholder farmers. Europe stands in stark contrast to the overarching policy interventions outlined in the Green Deal. The United States focuses on market-led growth in the organic agriculture sector. Concurrently, Malaysia integrates government incentives, urban agriculture, and private-public partnerships, especially for highland regions like the Cameron Highlands, to encourage organic vegetable production. Despite the economic and environmental advantages of organic agriculture, it is facing regulatory complexity, the cost of certification, and yield gaps. Emerging evidence on artificial intelligence and precision technologies suggests enhanced efficiency in nutrient and pest management in organic systems. Together, these findings underscore the promise of organic agriculture, provided that future research targets low-cost biocontrols, climate-resilient varieties, and AI-based precision tools.
Management System Certification Benefits: Where Do We Stand?
Purpose: The implementation and certification of Management Systems International Standards, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, achieved a high international recognition, with more than 1 million organizations with their Quality Management Systems certified worldwide. Researchers have been paying considerable attention to this theme and the number of published articles has robustly grown. Although on an overall basis, the research results support the existence of positive impacts on the adoption and certification of these International Standards, there are various inconsistencies and contradictory results, leading to some controversy over its impacts for organizations. This study aims to bring a longitudinal time perspective to this area of research, analyzing the articles published since 1996, on the benefits of Management Systems Certification. A longitudinal perspective of countries of authors origin, keywords and journals is presented, complemented with an evaluation of the research results. Design/methodology/approach: A Bibliometric Study supported the research, with data collected from Web of Science, SCOPUS, and Research Gate data bases. Following the detailed analysis of the journal titles, articles abstracts and their full content, an evaluation scale was adopted to assess if the results support the existence of a positive relationship between Management System Certification and economic, financial or stakeholder results. Findings: The results evidence a steep increase in the number of publications addressing Management Systems Certification benefits, that mainly originate from Europe (48%) and East Asia and Pacific (23%), with Spain as the leading country (accounting for 14% of the total number of articles published between 1996 and April 2017). Journal of Cleaner Production (Environmental Management System Certification) and Total Quality Management and Business Excellence journal (Quality Management Systems Certification) are the leading journals for disseminating the research and the most used keywords are “Quality/Environment”, “ISO 9001/14001”, “Performance”, “Management Systems” and “Certification”. There are also insights that the research is now open to other Management Systems either than Quality and Environment. The systematic review of the selected papers shows that the Management Systems adoption and certification brings fairly positive benefits (average 2,34 in a 1 to 5 Likert type scale) for the certified organizations, although some variations are observed. Some avenues for future research should consider the reliability and validation of measures; sampling and biases errors; the identification of control, moderating and mediating variables; the consideration of time and situational contingencies; and the search for explanations for cause and effect relationships. The results of this research support the view that the investigation of Management Systems Certification benefits is indeed an issue of high academic and practitioners interest. This research, although subject to some subjective evaluation of the authors, and acknowledging that the research articles are not always comparable, aims to give some insights for this continuous research field. Research limitations/implications: Although the authors took measures to minimize subjectivity, it should be noted that the evaluation could be subject to the authors own interpretation and the research articles are not always comparable. Originality/value: This research presents a longitudinal and comprehensive evaluation of the articles published since 1996 addressing the topics of the benefits of Management System Certification. It highlights trends and gives contribution for future research, on a field of intense academic and practitioners interest.
Multi-criteria decision-making system for sustainable building assessment/certification
The paper presents a new multi-criteria decision-making technique to select criteria for building sustainability assessment. The methodology of building certification system is integrated with the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. The criteria set for assessment is determined based on Swedish certification system Miljöbyggnad. Criteria weights are determined by applying Analytic Hierarchic Process (AHP) method. Weights of criteria are calculated based on Saaty’s judgement scale and new original scale, presented by the authors. ARAS (Additive Ratio Assessment) method (MCDM method) is applied to solve problem under investigation. The developed assessment method involves LEED system’s criteria.
