In August 1968, Time Out was created in London to help people make the most of the city - the iconic brand's fiftieth anniversary will be celebrated with this book packed with fifty amazing magazine covers and the stories behind them. Time Out's fiftieth anniversary will also be marked by the exhibition 'Time Out 50: 50 Years, 50 Covers' - Charting five decades of London through Time Out's front pages at London's Museum of Brands. 'Time Out 50' will be celebrated in 50+ Time Out cities worldwide, with dedicated issues of print magazines and original online content. The cover feature for this research depicts the application of extreme pressure and high‐temperature for the synthesis of new phases inaccessible through conventional solid‐state synthesis techniques. The application of pressure is here depicted by the Titan holding the weight of the world beneath which the extreme pressure is generated. The opposing physical effects of pressure and temperature represent the multianvil high‐pressure, high‐temperature techniques used to synthesize new crystal structures. The new crystal structure, Sr4Te4O15, which is the subject of this research is depicted on the right, showing heavily corrugated (3 × 3) perovskite‐like layers. Spinning popular culture as public pedagogy : critical reflections and transformative possibilities
'Spinning Popular Culture' is a book about the effervescent activity lying (perhaps dormant) beneath the surface of seemingly inert and mundane cultural items in everyday life. It is a book about the power of the Everyday to maintain loyalty to or, at the very least, an unthinking acceptance of particular ways of being in the world. It is also about the capacity of such seemingly mundane artefacts to provoke resistance to this, and to enliven the visioning of social alternatives. It is a book about individual critical analyses of album cover art. Following a brief history of the development of the aesthetics of the packaging of recorded music, eleven internationally recognized critical scholars each interrogate the cover of a particular vinyl record album they grew up with or with which they have some personal experience or resonance. The totality of the cultural artefact that is the vinyl record album is, essentially, dissected and considered from perspectives of paratextuality and pedagogy. In this book, the contributors make the connections of everyday life to memory and history by locating the album in their personal biographies. They then look to the artwork on the album cover to explore the pedagogical possibilities they see resident there. The individual chapters, each in very different ways, provide examples of the exposure of such broad public pedagogies in practice, through critiquing the artwork from both reproductive and resistance positions.

The Front Cover illustrates the specific host/guest complex formation between the light‐switchable noncanonical amino acid /p/‐(phenylazo)‐L‐phenylalanine (Pap) in its low‐energy /trans/‐state and α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD), which is elucidated by X‐ray crystallographic analysis of super‐folder green fluorescent protein (sfGFP) as carrier for the Pap side chain. Upon illumination with mild UV‐A light, Pap switches to the /cis/‐configuration and the complex dissociates, which can be utilized for the affinity purification of sfGFP(39Pap) on an α‐CD affinity column.
