CONSULTANT FILES RECREATION REPORT RECOMMENDS SPORTS COMPLEX
The report says the football fields and tracks at Enfield and Enrico Fermi high schools need extensive work, and recommends building a central sports complex for both schools at Asnuntuck. Enfield hired Camp Dresser & McKee to analyze its outdoor recreation facilities. After a yearlong study, Roderick Cameron, the company's project manager, reported that the town needs more soccer, softball and other fields for its recreation leagues; a lighted artificial-turf football field and all-weather track for high school teams; and a series of other facilities for residents.
Clos encounter
[Roderick Cameron] began by designing a garden for his mother, Lady Kenmaire, at her large Villa Fiorentina, and then went on to design the more intimate garden of the Clos Fiorentina next door. Actually, anything would look intimate alongside the neo-classical garden of the Villa Fiorentina, the noble proportions of which are positively grandiose. The adjacent and smaller Clos Fiorentina looks bigger than it is, however, thanks to Cameron's skilful use of every nook and cranny. He used the unevenness of the land to create a garden constructed of terraces, separated by Chinese-style Chippendale balusters. The terraces are laid out like interconnecting rooms on different floors. The rose garden is the bedroom, a plot of tube-roses the boudoir. A courtyard filled with potted plants (fragrant with the scents of mint, sage, and basil) leads the way to the vegetable garden near the kitchen. A vine lies drying in the attic, and in the cellar, seeking shelter from the blistering sun, a line of moss has managed to creep under the clambering wisteria.

How the Cameron Highlanders of the Northwest marched to battle in the Civil War; America's Tartan Army
The Highlanders had stumbled upon the re-enactors of the 79th New York State Militia (NYSM), a division of the Cameron Highlanders of the Northwest, a non-profit, community oriented organisation headquartered in Oregon City. The First Sergeant, Doug McLain, a retired US Army lieutenant, introduced the Scots to Captain Thomas Nelson and his adjutant, Lieutenant James Walace, both retired from the US military, and Piper John MacMillan. Together they related the strange tale of the 79th New York Cameron Highlanders. Cameron Highlanders of the Northwest have taken up the torch of the 79th NYSM as the Scottish-American inheritors of the tradition. In their quest for historical authenticity, in honour of the \"Old Men\" of the 79th, the Cameron Highlanders of the Northwest have stumbled upon the power of cultural nationalism. Back to the encounter in the woods. The meeting between the representatives of the Highlanders and those of the 79th NYSM resulted not in conflict, but a ceilidh. Some British soldiers took part in a Civil War battle the next day, and on the following weekend members of the Cameron Highlanders of the Northwest attended mess with the Highlanders.
NEW EXAM ORDERED IN SLAYING CASE
[Roderick Cameron] delayed Marquardt's trial in January 2001 and in February 2002 because the judge ruled Marquardt was not competent to stand trial. Marquardt spent a year in the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison.
SKATE PARK IDEAS OFFERED
[Roderick Cameron] cautioned that final decisions about the park will be based heavily on economic and liability considerations. But he distributed photos of skateboard parks in Farmington and New Britain and encouraged the group to provide as many suggestions as possible to guide Enfield officials. The town plans to repave the largely abandoned tennis courts at Green Manor and Parkman, then install ramps, rails and other obstacles to convert the space into skateboard parks. The facilities also might be open to bike riders and inline skaters, but probably at different hours to minimize the risk of accidents, said Recreation Supervisor Mary Keller.
