La región magallánica en la cartografía mural italiana del siglo XVI
Abstract This paper presents an analysis of 16th-century Italian mural cartography, focusing on geographical representations of the Magellan region and the Strait of Magellan. Through frescoes and maps in Renaissance palaces like the Vatican and Palazzo Farnese, it examines how Italy, despite not being a maritime power, used mural art to reflect the geographical knowledge acquired from the great discoveries of the time. The paper highlights the intent behind these representations, which aimed to display power, wealth, and prestige, rather than provide accurate information about the geography of the world. Una cartela ornamental ubicada en la parte inferior derecha contiene un resumen de la expedición descubridora de Fernando de Magallanes, desde su partida en 1520 hasta el retorno solitario de la nao Victoria en 1522 (Fig. 1).
Great maps

Preface
While the structure and content of The Globe will remain familiar, I have introduced several refinements to support these goals, including the adoption of The Chicago Manual of Style-a widely recognised standard in historical and cartographic publishing. [...]readers may notice subtle changes in formatting and citation in this issue. [...]I am pleased to announce that ANZMapS will hold its annual conference, Southern Frontiers, at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, Tasmania, on 17-18 October 2025.
Mapping the future
\"Readers will learn how using modern mapping technologies can help us plan for the future. This includes being able to see what the effect human activity will have on the environment, where major settlements will be in the future, and how we can improve personal transportation and travel. Readers will also be introduced to the various challenges mapmakers still face today, including mapping the seabed and the far reaches of the universe.\"--Provided by publisher.
