McGuinty government honours Ontario's top exporters
[Louis M. Papp] has spent the majority of his career assisting SMEs to export and explore international markets. Through his leadership in key trade associations, Louis encourages Ontario firms to participate in international trade shows and assists them with their exporting efforts. Louis has also coordinated numerous incoming foreign delegations to showcase Ontario businesses. As the founder of Manufacturing Advisory Services, Louis has played key roles in helping Ontario companies in joint ventures with Asian, European and American companies. [Denis Colbourne] is a strong advocate and activist on the importance of exporting for Ontario SMEs. Through his company, DC- Technologies, Denis has used his knowledge of the global market and contacts to support the exporting efforts of local SMEs. In the last five years he has helped more than 30 companies with their exporting ventures while also fostering an export culture in the Ottawa area. He is a promoter of Ontario businesses and strongly urges international firms to build a presence in Ontario. The Ontario Global Traders Awards (OGTA) celebrate export success in Ontario. Coordinated by Ontario Exports Inc. - the Government of Ontario's export development agency - they are the first awards recognizing the export achievements of small and medium-sized enterprises in Ontario. There are four regions - southwest, central, eastern and northern, and six award categories: Leadership; Innovation; Market Expansion (two awards: product and service); Partnership; and Student Achievement. Winners of the regional awards compete for a provincial award.
