Broadband circuits for optical fiber communication
An expert guide to the new and emerging field of broadband circuits for optical fiber communication This exciting publication makes it easy for readers to enter into and deepen their knowledge of the new and emerging field of broadband circuits for optical fiber communication. The author's selection and organization of material have been developed, tested, and refined from his many industry courses and seminars. Five types of broadband circuits are discussed in detail: * Transimpedance amplifiers * Limiting amplifiers * Automatic gain control (AGC) amplifiers * Lasers drivers * Modulator drivers Essential background on optical fiber, photodetectors, lasers, modulators, and receiver theory is presented to help readers understand the system environment in which these broadband circuits operate. For each circuit type, the main specifications and their impact on system performance are explained and illustrated with numerical values. Next, the circuit concepts are discussed and illustrated with practical implementations. A broad range of circuits in MESFET, HFET, BJT, HBT, BiCMOS, and CMOS technologies is covered. Emphasis is on circuits for digital, continuous-mode transmission in the 2.5 to 40 Gb/s range, typically used in SONET, SDH, and Gigabit Ethernet applications. Burst-mode circuits for passive optical networks (PON) and analog circuits for hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) cable-TV applications also are discussed. Learning aids are provided throughout the text to help readers grasp and apply difficult concepts and techniques, including: * Chapter summaries that highlight the key points * Problem-and-answer sections to help readers apply their new knowledge * Research directions that point to exciting new technological breakthroughs on the horizon * Product examples that show the performance of actual broadband circuits * Appendices that cover eye diagrams, differential circuits, S parameters, transistors, and technologies * A bibliography that leads readers to more complete and in-depth treatment of specialized topics This is a superior learning tool for upper-level undergraduates and graduate-level students in circuit design and optical fiber communication. Unlike other texts that concentrate on analog circuits in general or mostly on optics, this text provides balanced coverage of electronic, optic, and system issues. Professionals in the fiber optic industry will find it an excellent reference, incorporating the latest technology and discoveries in the industry.

Acknowledgements are not just thank you notes: A qualitative analysis of acknowledgements content in scientific articles and reviews published in 2015
Acknowledgements in scientific articles can be described as miscellaneous, their content ranging from pre-formulated financial disclosure statements to personal testimonies of gratitude. To improve understanding of the context and various uses of expressions found in acknowledgements, this study analyses their content qualitatively. The most frequent noun phrases from a Web of Science acknowledgements corpus were analysed to generate 13 categories. When 3,754 acknowledgement sentences were manually coded into the categories, three distinct axes emerged: the contributions, the disclaimers, and the authorial voice. Acknowledgements constitute a space where authors can detail the division of labour within collaborators of a research project. Results also show the importance of disclaimers as part of the current scholarly communication apparatus, an aspect which was not highlighted by previous analyses and typologies of acknowledgements. Alongside formal disclaimers and acknowledgements of various contributions, there seems to remain a need for a more personal space where the authors can speak for themselves, in their own name, on matters they judge worth mentioning.

Construction of health status recognition and prediction model for power communication equipment based on TFIDF-COS
When power communication equipment malfunctions, the stability and safety of the power grid are compromised. This is due to the health status of the equipment. The safety and stability of the power grid will be impacted if dispatchers take too long to identify the fault’s origin and kind, which will disrupt the power communication system’s regular operations. In order to solve the problem of poor health status of power communication system due to the inability to timely determine and deal with the faults of power communication equipment, the study proposes the construction of health status recognition of power communication equipment with prediction model based on term frequency-inverse document frequency and cosine similarity. The model firstly extracted the fault information of power communication equipment and builds the fault knowledge graph. Secondly, the study identified and built a prediction model for the health status of power communication equipment based on term frequency-inverse document frequency and cosine similarity model. The outcomes revealed that the training model had the highest accuracy and the lowest loss rate when the learning rate was set to 1 × 10−5. When the iterations was set to 70, the training and test sets had the highest accuracy and the lowest loss rate. When the model utilized in the study was compared to other models with varying numbers of samples in the dataset, it performed well in terms of runtime and fault diagnosis accuracy. The model developed by the study improves the accuracy of fault extraction and recognition and can better ensure the normal operation of power communication equipment.
Intelligent patrol inspection of low code enabled electric power communication equipment based on digital transformation
In order to meet the needs of digital development of power system and ensure the safety of power communication equipment, an intelligent patrol inspection method for power communication equipment with low code enabling based on digital transformation is proposed. Build an intelligent patrol platform for low code enabled power communication equipment based on digital transformation. The data acquisition module of the infrastructure layer scans the RFID tags on the communication equipment through the patrol personnel’s handheld devices to obtain the specific information of the current equipment. The UDT data transmission protocol of the data transmission module transmits the equipment information collected by the patrol personnel to the patrol application layer; The fault diagnosis module of patrol application layer uses convolutional neural network to analyze patrol data and complete fault detection of power communication equipment; The integrated component layer uses the application components developed by visual tools to enable the platform with low code through the low threshold platform development technology; The front-end service layer, supported by the technology of the integrated component layer, implements the simplification and configurable processing of front-end display results such as patrol results display, and views and manages the patrol results of the platform through the user terminal layer. The experiment shows that the method is accurate in data acquisition, fast in data transmission and high in fault diagnosis accuracy. It is a highly practical intelligent patrol method for power communication equipment.
