The Study Progress and Analysis of Preventive Measures of Nursing Care for Chemotherapy-Induced Oral Mucositis in Pediatric Patients with Hematologic Malignancies: A Retrospective Study
2024
To analyze the preventive and therapeutic effects of comprehensive nursing interventions on chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in pediatric patients with hematologic malignancies.
A retrospective analysis was conducted, and 80 pediatric patients with hematologic malignancies who underwent chemotherapy in our hospital from January 2020 to December 2023 were selected as the research subjects. According to different nursing intervention methods, the patients were divided into an experimental group (45 cases) and a control group (35 cases). The experimental group received comprehensive nursing interventions, including oral care, dietary guidance, and psychological support; the control group received routine care. The observation indicators included the incidence of oral mucositis, Oral Mucositis Daily Questionnaire (OMDQ) scores, pain index (Visual Analog Scale), and levels of inflammatory markers (IL-6 and CRP) in saliva.
In the first, second, and fourth weeks of chemotherapy, the incidence of oral mucositis in the experimental group was significantly lower than in the control group (P < 0.05), with a total incidence of 51.11% compared to 77.14% (P = 0.017). Before chemotherapy, no significant difference was observed in OMDQ or VAS scores between the groups (p>0.05). However, in the first, second, and fourth weeks, OMDQ and VAS scores in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.001). Similarly, levels of IL-6 and CRP showed no baseline difference between groups but were significantly reduced in the experimental group during these weeks (P < 0.001).
Comprehensive nursing interventions significantly reduce the incidence and severity of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in pediatric patients with hematologic malignancies, alleviate oral pain in pediatric patients, and effectively reduce the levels of inflammatory markers in saliva. The application of comprehensive nursing interventions in clinical nursing practice can improve the quality of care for pediatric patients with hematologic malignancies.

Impact of comprehensive nursing on operation time of myomectomy and intraoperative blood loss of pregnant women with co-existing uterine myoma
2025
We aimed to assess the impact of comprehensive nursing care on the operation time and intraoperative blood loss of pregnant women with uterine myoma. Sixty pregnant patients treated between January 2018 and September 2020 were randomly assigned to a routine nursing group or a comprehensive nursing group (n=30). The comprehensive nursing group experienced significantly reduced operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative ambulation time, and overall duration of hospitalization when compared to those of the control group (P<0.001). Pain levels were also significantly lower in the comprehensive nursing group 12-48 h after operation (P<0.001). Comprehensive nursing led to significant improvements in anxiety and depression scores, with higher nursing satisfaction rates. These findings suggest that comprehensive nursing provides substantial benefits for managing the surgical and mental health outcomes of pregnant women with uterine myoma.

School nursing in Germany - a developing field: results of a mixed methods study
2025
Background
School nursing is a well-established part of school health services globally. In Germany, school nursing is limited to a few model projects. Little is known about the school nurses’ role, its related tasks and goals, and the collaboration with interest-holders. The aim of the study is to explore to what extent and how school nursing is currently implemented in Germany, to provide a basis for further development.
Methods
We conducted a context analysis, guided by the UK Medical Research Council’s framework from December 2022 to June 2023. A convergent mixed-methods design was used to gain a comprehensive understanding on the role, needs, working environment, and goals of school nurses. Quantitative data were collected via an online-survey and analysed descriptively. Semi-structured, guided focus group interviews, non-participatory observation of school nurses and expert interviews with interest-holders were conducted and analysed via content analysis for qualitative data, and typology formation was carried out. The findings were subsequently triangulated.
Results
We analysed 65 survey datasets, qualitative data from five participatory observations, two focus group interviews, and ten expert interviews. School nurses work across various school types, caring for students of all ages. Of the respondents, 97% are registered nurses, with 34% holding a Bachelor’s degree. Their tasks, employment relationship and funding vary across federal states. Health promotion, prevention, and counselling are performed by 92%, addressing diverse topics depending on needs, 85% aim to strengthen health literacy among students, parents, and teaching staff. School nurses collaborate widely with internal and external interest-holders, are recognised as health experts and their work is valued supportive and accepted. Three different approaches for school nursing in Germany were identified. Using models and frameworks to inform school nursing was rarely reported.
Conclusion
School nurses in Germany aim to contribute to students and their communities by health promotion, prevention and inclusion. Their role is multifaceted, combining nursing, education, and counselling with different emphases across schools and supporting broader public health efforts. When implemented, they reach students, school staff, parents and partly their community. Given its development stage, established international concepts could serve as a foundation and orientation for further implementation.

2025
Objective
This research aims to analyze the effects of total, continuous nursing interventions as a perioperative care system for patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) with upper urinary tract stones on postoperative: inflammatory response, oxidative stress, and stress hormones.
Methods
In the study, 150 patients with upper urinary tract stones (renal and proximal upper urinary tract stones) underwent PCNL from January 2023 to December 2024. The patients were then randomly assigned into two groups; the control group (75 patients) received conventional nursing care interventions, and the study group (75 patients) received comprehensive and continuous nursing interventions. Postoperative levels of inflammatory markers (CRP, IL-10), oxidative stress indicators (MDA, SOD), and stress hormones (COR, ACTH, NE) were compared between the two groups. Additionally, the incidence of postoperative complications and length of hospital stay were recorded.
Results
The study group exhibited significantly lower levels of postoperative inflammatory markers compared to the control group (
p
< 0.05). Improvements in oxidative stress indicators were notable, with a significant reduction in MDA levels and a marked increase in SOD levels (
p
< 0.05). Furthermore, stress hormone levels (COR, ACTH, NE) in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (
p
< 0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications in the study group (5.56%) was significantly lower than that in the control group (20.83%), with a reduced length of hospital stay and increased patient satisfaction (
p
< 0.05).
Conclusion
The collaborative and continuous nursing strategy almost completely avoids postoperative inflammatory responses, reduces oxidative stress, and regulates the secretion of stress-related hormones, greatly improving recovery outcomes for upper urinary tract stone patients undergoing PCNL.

Comprehensive nursing care for advanced digestive malignancy patients during chemotherapy based on probiotic intervention: a randomized controlled study on improvement of gastrointestinal function and prevention of complications
2026
This study aims to investigate the effects of a comprehensive nursing protocol combined with a probiotic intervention on improving gastrointestinal function, reducing non-infectious complications, and enhancing the quality of life in patients with advanced digestive malignancies undergoing chemotherapy, thereby providing evidence-based support for chemotherapy nursing care.
A total of 300 advanced digestive malignancy patients undergoing chemotherapy at Our Oncology Specialty Hospital from January 2021 to December 2024 were randomly divided into a control group (150 patients) and an observation group (150 patients) using a random number table. The control group received conventional chemotherapy nursing care, while the observation group received a combined probiotic intervention along with comprehensive nursing care. Baseline data, gastrointestinal function scores (bloating, diarrhea, constipation, nausea/vomiting), nutritional status indicators (serum albumin, prealbumin, BMI), and quality of life scores (EORTC QOLQ-C30) were recorded before and after 2, 4, and 8 weeks of intervention. Non-infectious complications and nursing satisfaction were also evaluated. The dynamic effects of the intervention were analyzed using Generalized Estimation Equations (GEE).
No significant differences were observed between the groups at baseline (P>0.05). However, after 2, 4, and 8 weeks of intervention, the observation group exhibited significantly improved gastrointestinal function, with lower scores across all dimensions compared to the control group (P<0.05). At week 8, the total gastrointestinal function score in the observation group (1.57 ± 0.58) was significantly lower than the control group (3.74 ± 1.05) (t=22.156, P = 0.000). The observation group also showed significantly higher nutritional indicators: serum albumin (41.53 ± 2.96 vs. 36.18 ± 3.42), prealbumin (276.41 ± 17.53 vs. 218.65 ± 20.37), and BMI (23.58 ± 2.86 vs. 22.37 ± 3.21) (P<0.01). Additionally, the observation group had higher quality of life scores and lower complication rates (P<0.05), with increased nursing satisfaction. GEE analysis confirmed that the observation group showed greater improvements in all measured indicators over time compared to the control group (P<0.01).
The comprehensive nursing protocol with probiotic intervention significantly improves gastrointestinal function, enhances nutritional status, reduces non-infectious complications, and boosts the quality of life in chemotherapy patients with advanced digestive malignancy. This intervention demonstrates substantial clinical benefits and therapeutic value.

Effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on the formation of pressure sore in patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery in prone position
2024
Pressure ulcers are a common complication of prone orthopaedic surgery, causing pain and inconvenience to patients. This study aimed to evaluate a comprehensive nursing intervention for pressure ulcer formation in these patients. A total of 120 patients undergoing prone orthopaedic surgery were randomly divided into two groups. The study group (60 patients) received a comprehensive nursing intervention, whereas the control group (60 patients) received a routine nursing intervention. After 2 weeks, the comprehensive nursing intervention significantly reduced the incidence and degree of pressure sores and led to a shorter recovery time than the routine nursing intervention (p < 0.05). The incidence of postoperative wound complications was decreased, and patient satisfaction was significantly improved (p < 0.05). The Hamilton Anxiety Scale, Hamilton Depression Scale and visual analogue scale scores of the study group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire scores were higher than those of the control group (p < 0.05). A comprehensive nursing intervention can significantly reduce the incidence and degree of pressure ulcers, accelerate recovery time, reduce postoperative wound complications and improve the quality of life and satisfaction of patients undergoing prone orthopaedic surgery.

Background
Advancements in information technology, have made hospital information systems (HIS) essential tools for clinical nursing. The integration of HIS into undergraduate nursing education is a growing expectation within healthcare institutions. To meet this demand, nursing educators have promoted the incorporation of HIS into curricula to foster educational innovation. In response, our research team developed the Nursing Simulation Teaching Information System (NSTIS) to facilitate nursing operations related to HIS. We designed a comprehensive training course for senior students to prepare them for clinical rotations, with case simulations as a central component. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of NSTIS in the training course and refine both the system and teaching scheme based on student feedback.
Methods
A total of 114 nursing students were assigned to either the experimental (
n
= 55) or the control group (
n
= 59), with only 114 students completing the intervention. Both groups worked on the same simulation case. The experimental group used the NSTIS to obtain complete medical records, whereas the control group used traditional Microsoft Word documents and printed materials. With informed consent from the participants, data were collected using a self-designed classroom teaching effect questionnaire and a case workshop scoring form.
Results
The experimental group scored higher than the control group on the total scores of the self-designed teaching effect questionnaire, with significant differences observed in specific items related to teaching objective achievement and learning outcomes. Qualitative data indicated that the experimental group reported acquiring skills in HIS operation. Both groups recommended adjustments to the teaching structure to enrich the case study resources, while the control group expressed a desire for measures to enhance their learning motivation.
Conclusion
Integrating NSTIS into a comprehensive training course can help enhance the effectiveness of case simulations. Further improvements to the NSTIS and teaching strategies are necessary for effective teaching. Future research should explore whether the application of the NSTIS in comprehensive training courses can improve students’ abilities and investigate how to integrate the NSTIS into other courses.

Background
Simulation has been widely used in the teaching of pre-licensed nursing students and has shown positive results. However, there is limited evidence regarding the application of a comprehensive nursing course with simulation for Associated Degree in Nursing (ADN)-prepared nurses with different work experience times. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the satisfaction, self-confidence, and perceptions of scenario simulation among Chinese nurses in a comprehensive nursing skills course in an RN-BSN program.
Methods
A single-group post-test approach was used in the current study. Participants that completed a comprehensive nursing skills course with simulation in an RN-BSN program were enrolled.
Results
The mean satisfaction, self-confidence, educational practice, and simulation designs scores were rated highly. Self-confidence (
p
= 0.002), active learning (
p
= 0.020), collaboration (
p
= 0.030), support (
p
= 0.008), and problem-solving (
p
= 0.007) were significantly higher among students with more work experience compared to those with less experience. Then, four themes were analyzed: enthusiasm for learning, ability to experience different feelings during role-play, hybrid teaching format, and simulation fidelity.
Conclusions
Results demonstrated that a comprehensive nursing skills course with simulation might improve Chinese ADN-prepared nurses’ satisfaction and self-confidence in learning. Nurses with work experience gave a high rate to the scenario simulation, demonstrating that simulation can be widely applicable for students with different characteristics. Finally, the teaching strategy in the present study can be applied to more RN-BSN programs.
