Big Cardiff chance for Welsh Olympic hopes
The International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) has decided to hold its final 'Road to London' preparation training camp in Cardiff - and are encouraging Welsh boxers also hoping to be selected for the Olympics to take part in the camp with the visitors from a number of emerging countries. Duffryn High School pupil [Sean McGoldrick] was the WABA youth champion in 2006 and again in 2009 before claiming a silver medal at the GB Championships in the same year. Teenager [Fred Evans] is from St Mellons and boxes out of St Josephs ABC, while [Joe Cordina] is another St Mellons lad, who says: \"I started just to keep fit between rugby seasons.\" Seb Coe, chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Organising Committee, said: \"This is great news for Cardiff and Wales. Cardiff will be a great training and acclimatisation base for these emerging boxing nations to make their final preparations prior to one of the most important competitions in their sporting careers.
