The Minister of Health proposed a Dentists' Amendment Bill to allow about thirty unregistered dentists to be placed on the official register. Previously, examination standards had been lowered after World War I for returned soldiers. The current minister justified the measure by citing the \"paramount interest--in the health of the community.\" The Journal noted that this provided another opportunity for those who had previously failed the examination.
