Love in the face of death
Grandparent deaths are like practice deaths, a step above pet deaths, to help you have the barest preparation for a truly painful death. Delaney may be enraged, impotent, fractured, and heartbroken—a “decaying disused train station while freight train after freight train overloaded with pain roars through”—but it is the innumerable acts of kindness from friends, health professionals, volunteers, and family that knit him back together. Delaney wants the world to know that when everything else has been stripped away, love is all there is and all that matters.
DYING FOR SEX
Humor is laced throughout showrunners Elizabeth Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock's adaptation of a terminal cancer patient's sexual awakening - except for one thing: \"lt was never her desire that was funny' DYING FOR SEX'S Elizabeth Meriwether, who co-created and executive produced the FX series alongside Kim Rosenstock, was, ironically, in a doctor's office when she learned they'd been nominated for an Emmy for outstanding limited series. [...]I was like, 'Well, all right\" The humor with which Meriwether retells the unfolding of her Emmy news on the East Coast is the same she and Rosenstock brought to the story of the real-life Molly Kochan (Williams), who, before succumbing to a terminal cancer diagnosis in 2019, detailed on a podcast with her best friend Nikki Boyer (Slate) her journey of sexual exploration after leaving her husband of 15 years. Itwas such an incredible thing to hear her voice in those final moments, to hear her still trying to figure herselfout, still making jokes, still having so much love for her mom, against allodds, and also Nikki.
